bestowed gratuitously
needy and suffering sweet relief

benevolent and worthy
generosity for those in grief

liberality so given to the poor
graced bestowed upon their heads

which allows all men to slumber well
as they lay quietly in their beds..

charity without justice
is the poor cousin indeed

chairty without justice
leaves everyone in need

caritas caritas oh sweet sweet caritas

philanthropic my heart yields
to the call and cry of humanity

as theological virtue
demands my all for charity

altruistically can there be a love
that is given so freely

I think as the Father giveth
the myth is dispelled

for even son of God who gives life
so that all sin is repelled

gives caritas with intent to serve
to show the Father's love

ensuring my redemption
through His Son sent from above

caritas caritas oh sweet sweet caritas
