TO MY GIRLFRIEND

dedicated to my true friend of over 35 years
who brings out the best in me and gives me the best of her

you laughed with me in the summer of our youth
and you were in the shadows waiting patiently as I matured
you helped weather lifes storm as I too grew into a woman

and now grown our lives having taken different paths
you remain my one constant companion of friendship
like jonathon and david weve been inseperable

and I thank God all my days for giving me a loyal friend
that sees and knows my weakness and yet continues to encourage
steadfast by my side for over 30 years

you have watched me cry and given me your hanky
you've watched me laugh and fallen down laughing with me
you have given me hope when I was downcaste

I am so grateful to the Lord for giving me such a friend
that listens to me even when I tell the story over again
if one has one true friend life is much the easier for living
