WHAT IS POETRY II - IN MY WORDS
Distinguished ability to move us deeply
evoke us emotionally and please us by it's form
depth and substance enter I into new realms of thought
What is poetry? and in my words reflect.
Impatient grasping like one trying to capture the wind
a chameleon ever changing refusing to stand still
a revelation of insight that leaves bereft
the economy of the heart
Compressed the form of literature
restrained crying to break free from tradition
shades of thought and meaning that
rebel against the standards vision
Listen carefully as you tread along the cobblestones
pay heed to the winding roads
be careful as you travel dark corridors
and what the mind is willing to unload
create in my minds eye a new world order so
visual an imagery that it stimulates the sense of sight
and takes me to places only dreamt about
in which the body can take flight
that word which holds the judgement of my soul
aesthetic and evocative the quality-
ambiguity, symbolism and irony
all fall by the wayside of the truth that be
That save here in my words
I will create the worlds and dispel with them
at the stroke of pen for all words
are clanging symbols torn away from the hem
and just as the flesh is stripped away
as my fingers no long at the keyboard bash
this lifeless form will return to the earth
and just I as my words will return to the soil as ash.

WHAT IS POETRY?
What is poetry but carefully chosen
words plied in rhyme or verse
that talks of things most
common to all manner of man
the reading between the lines
the hidden words and meaning
reflective thoughts and memories
that once in print they stand
Words and thoughts that create
a veil of mystery to be lifted
for those that seek a truth of
words that paint a picture
A piece that gives voice for the poet
that had long remained silent
but for the pen and ink that
glides and etches
a journal of a journeys never taken or
that records a life time of events
where the past comes alive
and imagination wages war and vents
where perception and process meet
and dare I utter those things I am
yet to understand and bring forth
life to words that I think are grand
illuminated reality a practice
of talking art as I give permission
to feel the interior of my being
no longer an orphaned silenced
carefully framed is the speech
not philosophy but my humanity
that evolves to share fragrant knowledge
and heartfelt passion
keepsakes of the wise so
exile not the words lift your
pen and make sound and lift
your eyes and not be cast down
solid is the clay tablet
as if lifted down from the mountain
that yeilds the ordinance of man
and this his frame work be
if anything rises of importance
keep the pure heart pure
and keep one's mind clear
before emotions and thought dissappear

empty, foolish, Religious
How glorious the creator
His word declared and it is so
from the emptiness of space
and time beautiful winged
companions are created
All hail the stars out of man's reach
All hail give praise to natures land
and empty are such words that be
that one day will fall into
the abyss and remembered no more
for there is something beyond the
"nothing" the "emptyness" devised by man
to fill the void where once
empty nothingness was full of hollow
vane little such little things
darks space once filled with light
grows dim with the eve
that sucks and draws in that
warps the now senselss mind..

EQUAL
Death comes to all men equally...
as God shines on the righteous
and the unrighteous
All men both the Christian
and the non Christian are judged by God..
A rich man cannot buy
his way into heaven
AND
A rich man though he may be
and able to buy a kidney
from a third world country...
he cannot buy the pure heart
of oft a poor man
that was gift to him from the start

That now the godless have refrained

Under heavens light
