THE LIFTING OF HIGHER

Higher and higher
my heart is lifted higher
and higher still
my love is lifted

The joy of tender touch
that lifts the spirit
of carefree days
from memories sifted

beyond the shadows
and beyond the clouds
far from the horizons
I am lifted higher still

and light the spirit
released from chains
the beautious views
I drink my fill

I reminisce the face of change
through peaceful slumber
of lightened heart
as I bask in winters days

in awe of what I now delight
the distant past of what
was once a saddened
mysterious haze

BUTTERFLY MASK

beneath the surface
unable to reveal
the innermost secret of
what life has taught to feel

tides and currents float under,
..................the butterfly mask
Prism of color that reflects
lifes expectation bask

the turquoise, the golden yellow
that hides in turmoil within the
the grey and brown of the shallows

wings are worn as time moves on
lifes cycle emerges and signals
it's time to blossom

and sundial dictates the moment cast
as the midnight hour approaches
and melts away the
........................butterfly mask
