life, friendship, love, heartache

LOVE THAT SMILES
love that smiles
and lights the face anew
the warm embrace of friendship
from sweetness of invitation grew
the yearning of all desire
sincerity of heart and pure the joy that be
your love that calls each one near
the indian jewel that time reflects the beauty that we see
For God alone placed the precious gem among our midst
so give praise to the creator that let passion burn so bright
and shared with us but a moment
strength today and bright hope we call tomorrow (kal)
Shukhriya, shukhriya for the blessing (so thank you for the blessing)
for life is niether kala nor safed (black nor white)
and you are the sweetness of grape..अंगूर (angur)
you are air to me ( Hava हवा )
meetha, meetha Bay-hen (sweet, sweet sister)
and now you will feel a warmer Bay-hen (sun)
and dance under a brighter moon (chandspogmai)
where the sky's are deeper (asman asman)
and stars shine more brilliantly (ek tara)
and rain is purer (baris baran)
that falls into the river where many a tear is falling (daryasind)
and all that is left is the smile you put on our face.....

Dedicated to my Japanese Friends who have taught much the value of
savoring the moment as I reflect our time sipping tea
in the gardens of Iris in full bloom
Kariya & Ezoe my dear Japanese families of my heart
WHAT IS POETRY V - My Island
Poetry is my island
secluded in a land so far from home
where my mind continuously wanders
and drifts often longing to roam
The people in my mind look
so very different to me
as they peer out of narrow slits
from beyond the widened sea
words clothed in detailed
ornamental fabric that bow so lightly
and tread carefully upon the feelings
that have been practised so politely
cha-no-yu the ritual begins
of prescribed gestures and phrases
that take a lifetime to learn of
accomplishment that brings the gentle praises
medicinal often a spoken word
that now transforms for pure delight of pleasure
ichi-go ichi-e - one time one meeting
that this is the moment to be treasured.

I SPY (a look at your blog)
I look through my minds eye
narrow visions of whom you be
beyond the square of screen and glass
A quiet visitor in your space
that often looks from afar
determining whether I would be welcome there
to find a kindred spirit
that roams the net
able to travel without a visa
to places only dreamt
and in the hope that you
would exchange one reality for another
if only for but a moment
of pleasant rhetoric that
balances on the scale of friendship

the sprinkling of soft velvet longings

Where like Ruth & Naomi
would be prepared to
travel over land and sea
Your friendship that has spanned
the years and withstood
the test of time
You honor me "Mon Cher Ami"
and in you have to be true
A single soul that dwells in two bodies
That when the last Autumn leaf seen
has fallen, there you'll
be standing, waiting, evergreen
and so the attachment of the heart

spring, Cherry Blossom, friendship, love

B]CHERRY BLOSSOM
Dedicated to my loving husband who recommitted
our wedding vows in the season of Sakura
in Fukuoka 2007 where friendships blossom
and always in season
You whispered and called
to me from a far land
across the sea
Sidaresakura the weeping
cherry tree cried
tears of joy
For the blessing of
union your beauty
did deploy
Fresh new buds appear
full bloom -the green
leaves follow your lead
Cultivated Sakura as
we gather for the mount
of hanami
five, twenty, one hundred
petals lightly tinged
with pink white hue
Gather and line the
streets and scape
the parks and waters edge
Imperial households gathered
under your beauty
but rivalled not your
own nobility
Spring time blossoms
herald the coming season
gentle slmost unnoticed
flowering of enlightenment
New life emerges on
wooden dead branches
as winter withers away
Skies open and bestow
looking upon with pleased
affection
And in the blink of a
passing eye you came
and conquered hearts a many
such intricate floral design of
nature gift of God
lakes shimmered water
receives your petalled kiss
that floats down upon
wings of gentle breeze
That gathers one last
glorious display to bid
us evening at the end of day
