Spirit of Liberty

SPIRIT OF LIBERTY

I am the archetype of all things free
I move upon the earth unconstrained
spirit of liberty feeds my soul

convention can not anchor me
nor morality keep me paced
to the rythms and tides

and yet my spirit longs to dock
along the shores where palms
sway silently in the oceans breeze

I am the non conformist
for I know how I have been richly made
and life is for the choosing

I long to feel the breath of the creators touch
I long to be free'd from, - yes
free'd even from the spirit of liberty

Should I anchor now and risk
damaging the earths hold
would I dare anchor here?

should heavy cable and rope
be cast overboard and there by
its sheer weigh grip me to the bottom

should I rise above the fears
and reach out to security and stablity
and peform the last stage

of lifes race and anchor
my hopes and dreams upon the rigid
unmoving and unchanging heart

should I let my life be pierced
and secured to lifes eternal flame
and rest finally in the Spirit of Liberty

so now anchored upon the solid rock
I now draw the ships to me that
bring me the adventures I have long-ed sought

Wishes

Wishes

Invoke the the orb
to shine upon me new
and never let it say goodnight

let me not strain
for all that I desire
let peace come to me

willingly in the dead of night

celestiele beam
that orbits my heart
dispelling the darkness

captivated by pure light
in awe and wonder
I stare and gaze

and hold you in my palm
but all is illusion
and small am I

beneath your rays

as if passing time
languidly, you stare
back and look out for me

is it too much to ask,
to desire and wish
for the moon?

counter clockwise you
encircle my heart

and you affect the rise
and fall of all my emotions
as easily as you control

the tides of the very
depths and breath
of the oceans

and who can but nought
stand still beneath
your haunting gaze?

for you are my protector
in the darkest part of my day

and if I could but steal the kiss
that would make all wishes
come true

then I would climb the
tallest tree and reach
into the heavenly realms

and seal the promise of deed

SHELL SONG

, , , ...

SHELL SONG

the hard largely calcareous covering of a mollusc
a place the living call home

crystaline forms of delicate ornate detail
wash up on the sandy shores

fragmented from its travels from beneath
the white foamy waves

You once slowly meandered and decorated
ancient ocean floors

and now found beautiful and perfect in
every way I reach down amongst the seaweed

and bring the shell to my ear and listen
to the song it sings of coral reefs

and ocean beds and the many ships that
passed over head, of whales that

they too shared their song the whispering
of the sea and I continued to listen to

your song and stories of the old man of the sea
of times and tides of rolling waves

of tempest storms and silent graves that
lie beneath the torquoise waters

and now for you loveliness of perfection
I put you in my pocket and take you on

another journey and let your ears be filled
with the wonderment of grandchildrens awe

of you as they too listen to your whisper...

My Valentine

, , , ...

My Valentine

chocolate love sweet to thy lips
red red roses caress thine beauty
your auburn hair drapes your neck
like fine silken fabric

thine heart that shines thine
matchless worth and I will listen
to the Nightengale sing
our love song of endless summers

How I drink thee in like fine
vineyard wine pressed tenderly
with care and thirst not to
drink from any other vine

for thou are that satiates the soul
of all my longing in life
that fulfills all my hopes and
dreams

thou art my valentine, my lovely
lovely sweet sweet wine whos
fragrant aroma fills the air
when thou are near

who's scent of love sent
across the oceans breeze
fills the very breadth
and depth of all ones needs

more beautiful than jasmine sweet
more exotic than rich green
forests more resilant than love
everlasting that give my heart

.............it's resting place.....

IS THERE GOLD UNDER THE OCEAN

IS THERE GOLD UNDER THE OCEAN

Is there gold under the ocean
surely there is for the reflection
I see on ocean surface of
shimmering glistening flecks

Is there gold under the ocean
of soft yellow element resist
the salted corosion that yields
a single precious pearl

and beneath the blue of goodness
lies a heart of gold
the beauty in the coral reefs
that sway with evenings tide

Is there gold under the ocean
and such the beauty of gold
that decorates the oceans floor
and wonderous that life which

swims in and out amongst the reef
that stretches for miles
and is now the worlds heritage
that crowns Australian shores

NEEDLE PINES

NEEDLE PINES

Tall green pines slanted
to the years of winds
seasoned ocean breeze

and there falls the
needles of pine that
fall and weep with ease

the needles they gather
upon the soft grassy
slop-ed grounds

until they too change
over time and their
color turned to brown

OCEANS CALL

, , , ...

OCEANS CALL

The rushing of waves at midnight
pound upon the sandy shores

It's thunderous sound
permeates my ears
with its constant rushing roar

Moonlight on tips of waves
spreads its shimmering
reflective light

And I listen to the oceans call and
am left gazing at his starless
halfmoon night

though bereft of heavens stars
hat would fil the cavern above

The horizon was lit with a
million city lights, as beside
me laid my love

And there we laid up in our loft
embraced in each others arm

waiting for the gently hours to pass
as morining brings it's calm

DRIFTWOOD

, , ,

DRIFTWOOD

fibrous and lignified
floats the driftwood
nearing the sandy shore

hoping to rest from
oceans storm that I would
be wanted for evermore

kiss the foaming sea goodbye
and thank thee for thy trouble
but if I were to say I'm thankful
you'd catch me in a lie

seasoned by the salted water
lie I as though dead on the beach
and recall the journeys taken
that once seemed out of reach

aimlessly I travelled the world
the tide my ship of the sea
waves the rudder that drove me home
and wind the sails that lifted me

THE STING IN LIFE

, , ,

THE STING IN LIFE

Awe-inspiringly large
The giant freshwater stingray
Lives up to its name
Possessing a venomous sting
In its large whip like tail

Crikey, your gone so much
Time has passed your legacy
Lives on despite that your
Ship had to sail

Broad, thin and disc shaped body
Inhabitant of the sandy bottom
Estuaries elusive and only
Strikes in self defense

Wild life protector Steve Irwin
Sheriff on land and sea
Gave all he could
His life was great and immense

venom and mucous contained
within an integumentary sheath
Flat bodied on ocean depths
With powerful shell crushing teeth

As September 4, 2006 rolls by and
Greater than the loss of blood or
greater than the loss of such a man
Was the kind heart, and loving father
That all children deserve and demand

And give ode to the preserver
of natural wildlife
a man of great vision that leaves behind
children and a wife

A man who made sacrifices
By the way he lived his life
Knew the importance of family and love
That held him together in trouble and strife.

So don’t feel sorry for the Irwin’s left behind
Their gifted sight and visionary stand
For they know their place in this world
Infused in their being their love of this great land

"SANCTUARY'

, , , ...

OASIS - I claim you as sanctuary..

A million ton of sand
with only one ally
that sweeps upon the land

erosion burrows deep
beneath your table
where irragated tears
caress and sleep

Pourous grains allow
heaven to reach down deep

and there sprouts the drifted
seed amidst the great Kharga

An island in an ocean
of searing heat that blazes
beneath the sweltering sun

Desert garden watered springs
from earths resting place
provides the refuge soght
