SMILES AND WHISPERS

,

SMILES AND WHISPERS

the corners of the mouth turn up
and a smile forms
but this is not the smile of pure joy

their pleasure is not in the good of others
but in mocking amusement
their pleasure is in the whispers

and under their breath they utter
the sounds of destruction
that speak with suspicion

and timorous caution
secreting plotting insinuations
that delight their deceiv-ed heart

they are all smiles and whispers
they are all smoke and mirrors
they are but a shameless form

whispers of scandal like the
whispering of wind in the pines
that mimic the hush tones of lullaby

like the brush of silken cloth
or the rustling of velvet
sweet the gossip to the ear

so be careful of those who whisper and smile
and take delight in your demise
for they are a deceiv-ed heart

UNTITLED

, , ,

the haunting of life's trials
that overwhlem the senses
that beat you into submission
foreboding menace that you are

do you not realise that you cannot win
that there is nothing to be gained?
do you not realise the fate that is yours?

amidst all the fears you send
and all the pain of discontentment you bring
is not enough to shake off the love of God

and though you may bruise and crush me
though you may tie me up in knots
and cause me to blinded and winded and wounded

My God sustains me through all of this
and holds my life dearly in His hands.....

REFLECTION

REFLECTION

Many a man would gaze and reveal
their hidden desire, but now trapped
by known beauty that weilds it's power well

Ability beyond one's years and beyond
the yearning of this form, sets forth
the challenges of life

Releases all but one man's heart for
this will be the founding father of a
family legacy

Eloquent and clever words that express
hidden thoughts and life that springs
from the heart

Ever moving forward never standing still
this life that quickly dances this way
and that

Lovingly towards the family she has born
leaving all else behind understands too
well that in the end all is one

Obediently she yields to the restraints
of life that conform and shape her life
ensuring that eternity is held fast

Nourishing no more of the youngens for
they have grown and walked out the door
for lives they now their own seek

Grows a new heart and new love for life
that beckons her soul, that desires to show
her heart many a wonderous thing

Heavens Door

, , , ...

HEAVENS DOOR

molded the rugs that were
spun into angels wings
the dust of hidden past
that clouds the mind

as those wings carry
us to futures present
higher and higher
lifted up were I carried

away beyond the heavens
rainbows that let me not
be just blown in the wind
or mere breath of strange

lands I care for nought
for there I tarried far
too long where moldy angst
tried to cling to my form

and let the wings carry me
to the oceans shore and drink
from the drops of thy gift
the wealth of life before

...................I enter heavens door

I CRY

, ,

I CRY

your tiny hand in mine as you entered this world
you were joy to me and I could not help but cry
when you deceived me so I wept so agreived
at the thoughtlessness of your lie

the quiet sobs of weeping
the salted shadows that falls from windows pain
and there always will be one, shedding crocodile tears
when in life something you seek to gain

or Job's tears that adorns the ladies neck
tear shaped beads that enclose the seeded kernel
and a single tear drop the heart it so can fracture
while love at ends time is wiped away eternal

so I stood under heavens roof
as dew drops melted with the rain
while I cry from my soul the ache of hurt
and I cry life's song from which I cannot refrain

My Dear Albert

, , ,

Is all words, that fall upon the deafened ears
the philosophy of mankind that holds a wealth of tears

articulation for the reverence of life
the paradox created for the ages of strife

what be the moral value if lesson not be learned
what value be the ethic if not heeded and heard

if ethical means to think sincerely
then surely love is to know the Lord so dearly

mystery that stirs the heart entangled in a deadened world
Albert, Albert my dear Albert

what more value can man have save he knows his own creator
then purpose and value reveal

"ghastly drama of will to live divided against itself"
that leaves the capacity of man just sitting upon the shelf

enigma of evolution seemingly so destructive
devoid of knowledge that is unlimitedly creative

what can be greater than to know the fullness of life's love
what greater than to know forgiveness from heaven above

Does not all man strive more purposefully when God reveals?
to step away from the darkenes that the heart of man seeks to steal....

DRIFTWOOD

, , ,

DRIFTWOOD

fibrous and lignified
floats the driftwood
nearing the sandy shore

hoping to rest from
oceans storm that I would
be wanted for evermore

kiss the foaming sea goodbye
and thank thee for thy trouble
but if I were to say I'm thankful
you'd catch me in a lie

seasoned by the salted water
lie I as though dead on the beach
and recall the journeys taken
that once seemed out of reach

aimlessly I travelled the world
the tide my ship of the sea
waves the rudder that drove me home
and wind the sails that lifted me

LAUGHTER RISES

, , ,

LAUGHTER RISES

the corner of her lip curls
and begins to produce an auditory sound
manifestation of joy
ti's the brightness of day
that shines through the night

that sound that makes one brave and bold
that sound that unclouds fear of man
that sound that gives myrth of a story untold

transforms the sorry heart
the secret of longevity
that culminates the period that marked

be on your guard laughter of antiquity
for you will find some will reject
you as educated insolence

but triumphant your joy and deep
is your sole the release of magic
that makes your being whole

sudden glory that rises deep within
so what be the cause for such cachinnation
that which may sound exultantly at my success
or bitterly at the failure laid to ground

pure joy unrestrained or
the lack of skill that bursts forth untrained
at the demise of character in another

defuses potential conflict,
disjointed qualities that trespass
against the essential spontaneity of life

brings the life of expression
laughter rises, for it must!
that infects the once held in remission

VANILLA COMES MY WAY

, , ,

VANILLA COMES MY WAY

Yesterday , Vanilla filled the room
as love walked out the door
so to say goodby
to what was and is no more

Warmth and simple pleasures
and your turned up smile
and my own actions
the pure I made so vile

Yesterday - now lonely times
filled with regret
full of the misdeeds
that I alone beget

and if "future" decides
to visit me again
a new form present I am
sure he will see

and perhaps let vanilla
walk through this door once more
and fill my senses with pleasing love
for the lessons I have learned

and let vanilla come my way

WINTER WILDERNESS

, , ,

WINTER WILDERNESS

One mile away from any road
No sight of any trail
I say goodbye to summer’s love
As winter begins to snow

Province of all that is bleak
Your beauty etched in
Short days and low temperatures
That begs no forgiveness

A concert that heralds & warns
A deathly chill, the left hand of
Darkness that depresses
The mind greater still

And softly falls the snow
That hardens the heart of ice
Snowflakes of rare ice crystal
Elaborate matrix of perfect symmetry

And there on the ground snow
Remains waiting for summer to melt
Only to find winters stain
And glacier of winters’ night
