LOVE BEYOND THE SANDSTONE WALL

Sandstone won't forever
withstand the ravages of time
as wind and rain beat upon it's walls
and lovers come and go

as beating hearts are pressed against
it's grainy earth, it whispers and
hopes their hearts are as firestone
withstanding the intensity that heat
can often destroy without a thought

and then the sandstone whispers more
may their hearts be as the holystone
that scrubs away all imperfections

for the Tajmahal has long-ed stood as poetry in stone
and yet no love is found upon the cool surface
nor deep within it's grains...

....a million times over
.......this love in this time
...........is but a tiny grain.....
...............collect the grains of sandstone
..................and build the sandstone wall

build your love why you may
and cement it well with family and friends
build it strong with prayer, hopes and dreams

Let there be engraved into these lives
of extremely delicate detail,
forming twining vines, fruits that flower
build your lives upon a solid rock

decorate with intricate inlay of
Psalms and wisdom and spend time building
the inner walls that long to stand
...........................the ravages of time

SANDSTONE

sedimentary I lay
resistant to the weathering
how valuable I am that
filters the pollutants
for the surface dwellers

blend of clear quartz with
dark amber feldspar
buried beneath the layers
as the world passed me by
with nought rememberance of I

till they be in need to prod
deeply my rich aquafir
for I have seen the lakes
and deserts glacial outwash
and ocean shores

you've walked my beaches
carved my face and admired
my beauty and color, and built for
me your house and I have contained
your history kept close to my breast

for I've travelled Russia
Petria and Elita and let you walk
beneath my delicate arches
and let you ponder the your fate and that
of other surface dwellers that be

river deltas and desert dunes
records idly the time that did pass
between me and thee and I have
been the cornerstone of many a heart
and home that applied me well

for you have known the mighty
of my strength that supports the
beams of your dwelling places
that keep you cool and
safe within my frame
