Dance of Autumn Leaves

Dance of Autumn Leaves

Carefully crafted the third season
of deciduous trees and leaves
gently swaying and basking in
sunlight amidst a back drop blue sky

the autumnal equinox staves off the winter solstice
taking joy in all the colorful hues
of browns and golds, deep reds and ambers
as it waves goodbye to Summers bliss

and now awaits the first leaf - must fall
and to the world - Autumn, Autumn, Autumn it must call

feel the breeze whip around the bark
Autumn winds crisp and stark

and so the leaves dance and play
to the winds song that has travelled afar
beyond the north as we know it
to revel in this beautious season

though at first glance one sees the season
as one dying as it lays and dry upon the ground
and we see not, we feel not the life that might be emerging
only seeing the browns and golds, deep reds and ambers

and now awaits the first leaf - must fall
and to the world - Autumn, Autumn, Autumn it must call

feel the breeze whip around the bark
Autumn winds crisp and stark

strange it seems, this change of season
that bursts into colors beyond our senses
silhouettes and shades that cast it's shadows
sprinkled beween stark limbs soon to be naked

unremembered sleep of Autumn wrestling with
the nearing of winters cry - yet but a snap
of time that passes this way all to quickly
artfully and splendidly crafted color

and now awaits the first leaf - must fall
and to the world - Autumn, Autumn, Autumn it must call

feel the breeze whip around the bark
Autumn winds crisp and stark

and so this dance of Autumn soon must end all but too quickly
as autumn's quilt lies silent on the ground beneath
the great trees, the teller of time
and bid the north winds song of frolic goodbye.....

Twighlihgt comes in mornings hour

TWIGHLIGHT...

Twighlight comes in mornings hour
and meets again in the eve
when time has passed and dif-fus -ed light
reflected below the suns horizon

as evening light falls accross the lake
and dusk ushers the twighlight glow
as sillohettes form on the fields
tall beings with many limbs and fingers

bow at the close of day and greet the
mist that settles in between the intervals
of space and tim,e so faint the light
that begs the onset of mystery

perceiv-ed illumination shaded and obscure
at days end and yet I see with clear mind
and clarity the truth that is blinded by the
bewitching hour of the shadows that often

lay in wait and lurk and want for the cracks
in youth's mind to bend and weild and shape
for the misdeeds that twighlights hour did
not give rise nor permission

For twighlight offered many truths of
what the stars decree - so who can live
with one foot in darkness and one in light?
and poor the spirits that enjoy the mocking

and see not the darkness' entrapment but
wise the owl that sees acutely and lives to
tell the tale of twighlight and forewarns
the other creatures who enter into

twightlights grandeur of rooms that walk
beneath the green gums and stay on the well
trodden path of what hovers between the
day and night

Can sunshine fade from a loving heart?
can dusk fall and grapple with the mind?
Can evenings fall darken the night sky?
Can man triumph in the twighlight?

I wake.......

I wake
and breath comes with mornings light
the doves coo in the trees

I wake
and breath comes with mornings light
as cool is felt in Autumns breeze

I wake
and breath comes with mornings Light
and life has come to me

I wake
and breath comes with mornings light
of grandeur and possibility

I wake
and breath comes with mornings light
as lifes pulse quickens my heart

I wake
and breath comes with mornings light
for the joy felt at days start

A Maple Autumn

, , , ...

A Maple Autumn

never under-estimate foilage of rich color
the deep reds and purples
nor the oranges that radiate from
deciduous trees in Autumn

joy of seasons change as trees
put on a beautiful display so
cool and clear are the days that
are made even more spectacular

when brilliantly set against a
blue skyas the claret ash with
glossy green leaves in spring
turn to deep claret in Autumns wake

vivid autumn color puts warmth into
our days and give tranquil thought
as leaves fall in Winter and show
your grand structural form

you trunk and branches that said
goodbye to the graceful leafy surround
shade me in in my summer, and
give me my sun in my winter

NEEDLE PINES

NEEDLE PINES

Tall green pines slanted
to the years of winds
seasoned ocean breeze

and there falls the
needles of pine that
fall and weep with ease

the needles they gather
upon the soft grassy
slop-ed grounds

until they too change
over time and their
color turned to brown

JOURNEY

, , , ...

JOURNEY

regularly I transit this pilgrimage
of not so sacred a place
for this was merely a pleasure trip
through life which I had raced

and saw not the beauty propelled by oceans wind
and felt not the change of season
of this arctic expedition that
should give life its reason

and toured the province of summer
as I felt not the heat of day
and on foot walked through spring
as my mind began to say

from where do all journeys start
and where do they begin?
elect the road most taken as
be taken in by sin

traverse this body of water
that sails through narrow street
aimlessly I compass as
true north it seeks to meet

Will I recognise the destination
as I shortcut through the freeways
or pay the toll that's asked
along life's motorways

SPRING'S LIFE

, , , ...

SPRING'S LIFE

season of growth, outpouring of winters rest
new life that erupts from trodden soil
that fell from natures breast

September heralds early the unfurling of the green
and bear the pink buds of jasmine
that brings delight and want that must be seen

the warbling praises upon the branches
lift voice in choral unison
to be heard they take their chances

and now I dress in vivid competition
with springs joy and color
to rival winters derelection

quiet the spring that whispers in the air
to silence once the bitter cold of
all of winter's despair

lush scent upon wild color's breeze
thoughtful, serene yet bursting forth
loved displayed with ease

and lovely you are to behold
the green shoot that struggles forth
that thaws to close the door so bold

Spring my ransomed soul
rise from your hiding place and
new life replacing the old

forgive the past that hid you so
beneath the woolen jackets
and enjoy this glorious show

For Springs Life will only play this season
then hibernate once more giving rise to reflect
all of life that questions and begs to reason

So take your rest of beautious intermission
and hold hands on springs night dance without an end
for winters dark, at least for now is placed in secluded remission

WINTER WILDERNESS

WINTER WILDERNESS

One mile away from any road
No sight of any trail
I say goodbye to summer’s love
As winter begins to snow

Province of all that is bleak
Your beauty etched in
Short days and low temperatures
That begs no forgiveness

A concert that heralds & warns
A deathly chill, the left hand of
Darkness that depresses
The mind greater still

And softly falls the snow
That hardens the heart of ice
Snowflakes of rare ice crystal
Elaborate matrix of perfect symmetry

And there on the ground snow
Remains waiting for summer to melt
Only to find winters stain
And glacier of winters’ night

BALMY SUMMER DAYS

, , , ...

BALMY SUMMER DAYS

hot summer has arrived
crackling thunder breaks and cries
and rolls through the air

warm filled pleasant days
as one lazes and reclines
and with ease reflects and stares

beyond the garden of greenery
and little purple stalks of flower
cooling herself with bamboo fan

thinks of the evening to come
when cool breeze and twinkling lights
fall down on her and her man

Balmy summer days allows the mind
to dream and drift to a wonder world of
imagination that flashes back to summers past

kids playing in the street till after dark
parents drinking laughing around the backyards table
as a game of hide and seek forever lasts

iceblocks and sunnboys all round for girls and boys
fighting over the red and orange tubes of ice
as maddening water fights burst out

and at last kids all soaked and dripping wet
have exhausted all but there last breath
and protest with dropped lip and pout

and now the wind picks up and cool breeze
rises and brings relief for all
so no the kids won't be going to bed

on that summer night they will be dancing
in the summer rain like droplets bouncing
as parents soon join the frey of what the kids have led

balmy summer days of the past
of those days and nights
we wish to relive over and again

but am I too much older and wise
will I watch from a distance the change in sky
or let my guard down and be a child once again

أنا أحبّ أنت مع كلّي قلب

Dedicated to my
own true love my own habibi
of many faithful years

that stems the tide
of loneliness that is oft
found on earths wilderness

Ana Bhvibbak habibi
with imperfect heart
that spring has blossomed

Ana Bhvibbak habibi
sweetly sings the
the nightengale song

Ana Bhvibbak habibi
love with a beginning
that accepts this time

Ana Bhvibbak habibi
that tastes the joys
before the seasons end
