THE STING IN LIFE

Awe-inspiringly large
The giant freshwater stingray
Lives up to its name
Possessing a venomous sting
In its large whip like tail
Crikey, your gone so much
Time has passed your legacy
Lives on despite that your
Ship had to sail
Broad, thin and disc shaped body
Inhabitant of the sandy bottom
Estuaries elusive and only
Strikes in self defense
Wild life protector Steve Irwin
Sheriff on land and sea
Gave all he could
His life was great and immense
venom and mucous contained
within an integumentary sheath
Flat bodied on ocean depths
With powerful shell crushing teeth
As September 4, 2006 rolls by and
Greater than the loss of blood or
greater than the loss of such a man
Was the kind heart, and loving father
That all children deserve and demand
And give ode to the preserver
of natural wildlife
a man of great vision that leaves behind
children and a wife
A man who made sacrifices
By the way he lived his life
Knew the importance of family and love
That held him together in trouble and strife.
So don’t feel sorry for the Irwin’s left behind
Their gifted sight and visionary stand
For they know their place in this world
Infused in their being their love of this great land

I'm also personally appalled at the tall poppy syndrome of tearing downt he Irwin family with comments about how Bindi is being used by her mother Terri - I think rather many parents should envy the time this family had together where family and family values were more important than the animals.....where each person is encouraged and allowed to pursue their passion and life's dream, a mother protective of her children, a family who commands so much respect from close fmaily and friends...
I'm no Irwin fan per say....but have come across many a forum site where sad bitter people have a lot to say about the personal lives of this family when they niether know them personally and only offer negative comments in such thoughtless and judgmental ways..
As a parent I am the envy in my personal community and those that know me closest are most encouraging and supportive and those that perhaps might know me on say a forum (there are those who live bittered lives and are very judgmental) So I can perhaps just a little identify with Terri Irwin and those who would like nothing better than to see them fall....
For me, I wish them well and am proud that Terri is making Australia home and that we have a passionate person doing what only some of us could ever dream..
ok jumps of soap box now....lol
