Married Young

A blog about life.

The other day, my mother was at my house to have lunch since it was my day off. She noticed that I had not made the bed, and asked, “Doesn’t your hubby get mad if you don’t make the bed?” I stopped at looked at her, thinking it was a joke, but she was serious. I answered this too quickly I guess, “Uhhhh, nooooooo??????. ” And my answer seemed to puzzle her.

My mother is a 48 year old woman. She is not old. She has been divorced before, and had 4 children who are mostly all grown.

It puzzled me that she even asked me that. My husband and I are lazy don’t really mind the bed being undone, especially since I leave before him in the mornings. I make the bed every other day, if I remember.. but by the time I get home, the bed is only made for three hours.
We started talking about different household chores, and how our generations are quite different. Our roles as husband and wife have shifted through the years. This is no news to you, I am guessing. But to stop and really thinking about those things is quite interesting.

I could never imagine my husband yelling at me over a bed not made. Ok, I understand if I didn't do the huge pile of dishes in the sink, that's dirty stuff that might stink after a while.

ACK! It's been months since my last post.In Between
