Connections

Well, in this middle of the night between February 14 and February 15, I have made some rather startling connections. Insomnia, being another condition of old age, awakened me to reflections of the prior day's events. Those events were terrible and maddening, especially when I started making the connections.
Yesterday, the Republicans in the US Congress pulled another of their spoiled brat pranks and walked out of the House. It seems that their version of the domestic surveillance act was being rejected. The Protect America Act is going to expire. I'm sure the Replicants, uh, Republicans would rather deal with more important issues like the latest athlete on steroids. Such important business!
Ironically, across the country, in Illinois, another horrific campus shooting was taking the lives of innocent young students. (Didn't the Virginia Tech massacre take place around the time when Congress was discussing the idea of considering impeachment proceedings?) Now the media can concentrate on the slayings instead of what is going on in Congress.
Speaking of the massacre in De Kalb, isn't it ironic that the shooter killed himself! The Virginia Tech assassin conveniently killed himself, too. No one left to question! After all, we can't have them talking about missing time like Sirhan Sirhan did. We might begin to think they were those M K Ultra dudes who awaken at opportune times. Things have been going so badly for this vile government; they have had to awaken a number of the sleepers recently. Of course, these occurrences fuel the arguments of the gun control groups.
Gun control? You know, I live in Texas. There are more guns in Texas than people. A lot of people here are fairly ignorant. After all, they voted for George Bush. They watch football and drink beer and berate those athletes on steroids, but under that ignorant exterior beat the hearts of people who still have the spirit of the Republic, both the dead Republic of Texas and the almost dead Republic of the United States. When you gun control people show up in Texas to collect our guns, these armchair quarterbacks will rise up out of their chairs and say, "Over my dead body!"
Strange how my brain has made connections from the idiocy in Congress to thoughts about gun control! And in the middle of the night, too!
I have a message for you people in Congress. You are supposed to be representing We the People! I don't EVEN see that happening. I see selfish, greedy people who sell their votes to the most lucrative lobby, people who have sold our country out from under us. I see people who allow wire-tapping of their own citizens, because they are so afraid we will find out who the REAL terrorists are. I see people without souls, people who have agreed to let our sociopathic administration have the right to torture. Torture! It's bad enough that they continue this monstrous war! What have you become? What have we become that we continue to put up with this? Protect America Act? Who is going to protect us from you?
Wake up Americans! Wake up before it is too late! Put down your beer. Turn off the images of Britney on the tube. Wake up and pay attention to what is going on in your government! Wake up before you have nothing left to lose! Wake up and hold your rogue government accountable!
