Roger Federer might soon own every record in the sport, but he put a huge one on the board by winning the 2007 US Open title with a dramatic and hard-fought, 7-6 (4), 7-6 (2), 6-4 victory over Serb Novak Djokovic that might not be broken this century: going back-to-back-to-back-to-back at Wimbledon and the US Open four consecutive times.
Federer won a hard-fought final Sunday over third seed Novak Djokovic of Serbia, 7-6, 7-6, 6-4. In each of the first two sets, Djokovic led 6-5, but Federer fought off five set points in the first set and two in the second - taking both sets to tiebreakers, where he prevailed.
The Swiss star now has 12 major titles, just two short of American Pete Sampras's career record of 14.
