Roger Federer might soon own every record in the sport, but he put a huge one on the board by winning the 2007 US Open title with a dramatic and hard-fought, 7-6 (4), 7-6 (2), 6-4 victory over Serb Novak Djokovic that might not be broken this century: going back-to-back-to-back-to-back at Wimbledon and the US Open four consecutive times.
World number one tennis player Roger Federer of Switzerland has become the first man since American Bill Tilden in the 1920s to win the U.S. Open championship four times in a row.Federer won a hard-fought final Sunday over third seed Novak Djokovic of Serbia, 7-6, 7-6, 6-4. In each of the first two sets, Djokovic led 6-5, but Federer fought off five set points in the first set and two in the second - taking both sets to tiebreakers, where he prevailed.
The Swiss star now has 12 major titles, just two short of American Pete Sampras's career record of 14.
