MY KEY, WHERE COULD YOU BE?:bomb:
I looked everywhere, all over my apartment, in my purses, pockets, under my sofa, under the fridge!:yikes: (getting desperate, as you can see!), under my many pales of papers, even went through my recyclable trash (papers and plastic bottles).

Chile day 4

VERY VERY SPECIAL DAY!

During this trip I have done many things for the first time in my life. Like sleeping in a tent for instance! And it was interesting experience.
And some other things, but I will tell you more little bit later.
I am still wearing only sneakers since we and not doing long hikes, so my feet are happy!

The whole day was so beautiful and special!
First we visited small 'farm' owned by a family of a German origin where we patted and fed lamas and emus. They even have one puma! (in a cage)
Family owns a breakfast/lunch restaurant on the farm that overlooks the lake and Osorno. They also have several lodges right on the lake that can be rented.
We were so excited to see the animals!
The tree is called 'monkey puzzle tree'. Don't ask me why or how it got that name!

Than we visited Esmerald lake- Lagos Todos Los Santos.

After that we went to the Vulcano Osorno! During the winther that is a ski center and during summer you can hike or take a ski-lift all the way to the glacier that is on the top of the vulcano!
How can that possibly co-exist: fire and ice on the same area?!

and finally I did something i have never dreamed of being capable of doing:

Chile day 3

,

After breakfast (ham, cheese, toast and jam, always) we had time just for a brief walk.

Today we are moving south:
our next stop is Puerto Montt.
Flight with local airline was very pleasant. Hey, they serve food, nice one too! And wine, for free. No, I did not drink despite my NY resolution, but as an option...
In US nowadays you are lucky to get a drink... no, I don't want to complaint, we don't fly to eat in the air, I just can remember those nice snacks we used to get once...

Anyway, flight was nice, view of the Andes from the air mesmerizing... We trying to guess which one is the famous Volcano Osorno...
Hotel was nice and clean in so-so part of the town, close to the bus station, so we decided to go and explore right after we got there.

About 15 min away (500 pesos=$1) by a local bus is a beautiful village Puerto Varas, facing the lake and overlooking 2 volcanoes: Osorno and "Shame on me, I cannot remember". Place has a lot of German flavour because of German and Austrian immigrants from 1800's. Roses are everywhere, some places still have signs written in German.

Some of my favourite photos from the trip are taken on this day.
And there is a photo that one person may recognize as familiar!
We ended day with a great dinner: fish, of course. And I sipped some good local wine!

My dear SF,
this is the closes I got to culpeo.
There are some on the island of Chiloe, which I visited, but culpeos are in one small park that we haven't visited.
I hope you will see the real one some day!

Chile day 2

Hallo everybody!
I am back!
I was sick with a bad kidney infection and couldn't keep my eyes open for days.
Even missed work! You know what that means: I was really ill!

Now back to Santiago:
We arrived to this big city early in the morning. As you leave the customs (and pay $100 if you are US citizen for visa) dozens of taxie-drivers surround you offering transportation to the city center. You must bargain, otherwise they will try to take advantage.
City has grown population wise significantly in the recent decade or so, there are many more cars than it was ever planned for and the traffic can be quite bad.
Luckily our hotel was nicely located so we walked everywhere.
March is warm and sunny in Santiago since it is end of summer, beginning of fall.
Santiago is a vibrant, busy, crowded,(polluted :frown:) city, with beautiful architecture, stores that can compare to any European/US/ whereever stores.
People seem happy and content. And extremely friendly!
Prices? Almost like in USA.
But let me show you some photos, they can tell you more than words!

Chile: Day I

,

Day one is not particulary interesting.

Started our long journey: 3 different planes, many hours in curled possition.
Did I grow taller or something, or plains are somehow smaller nowadays?!
American crew was not very polite (should learn from Chileans).

Highlight: the sunrise!

First view of the Andes: it was all worth!

Back

Hallo people out there!

I returned from my trip to Chile last week,
oh, man it has been almost a week now!?
Started with work right away and just now can drop first few lines.
I will try to make a little day-by-day notes with postcards, will see how far I will go..
Chile, oh, Chile...
