World champion Jenson Button says he has struggled to get to grips with his McLaren MP4-25 round the Sepang circuit.
"I'm getting there slowly but it's been a long afternoon," said Button. "I haven't really got to grips with the car round here, I really struggled with the balance and I haven't found something I like.
"Very twitchy rear end and I just can't deal with it at the moment so we've been working with that. Eventually, towards the end of practice, I started feeling better but there's still a long way to go before I'm happy, so it will be a long night tonight."
2008 world champion Lewis Hamilton believes that the team have made ground, and is confident that the MP4-25 will be in better shape than it was in the first two races of the season.
"It's not been a bad day - I've got a good feeling in the car, probably the best feeling I've had in the car around this circuit," he said.
"Every time I go to a track this year, it always feels like light years better than last time I was there, from what I remember.
"We had a good programme, we stuck to it. Still trying to get a good understanding of the tyres, but generally a good feeling. There are some changes I need to make, but nothing too serious."
