Target syntax for opening background tab wanted
Friday, March 12, 2010 3:39:38 PM
Is there anybody who knows about a proper target attribute for 10.10 to open a new page in a background tab?
I know you can right click to trigger this action but I wish I could code it in naked html without having to launch yet another Java script.

Eureka @ Windows platform!

I knew it!
After removing the wmode="transparent" attribute, I managed to do the missing magic
making the player controls appear at the Windows platform. It's exactly doing what I always wanted and it does so even better than on the OSX platform. On the Windows platform, even the pull-down arrow in the player functions. On the OSX platform it doesn't.
Tx to Shwetank (
who gave me a hard time adding an attribute to my code), I solved a major problem because of that snippet bugging me for two weeks.
Shwetank, if you feel like fixing the last problem of your 10.10 browser on the OSX platform, feel free to do so. I'm only interested a full working version running on the Windows Virtual Machine hosted on that platform.
Tx for helping me to solve this first big time bug.

mp3 is finally playing under Windows but not yet a full victory...Even though I kept repeating myself we didn't have to look for modifying the code,
finally the Opera engineers themselves confirmed it was a plug-in issue.
As a matter of fact (two weeks later) the tune is finally playing on the Windows platform.
Don't tell me this had to take 'that' long...
BUT
We're not quite there yet!
Yes, the tune is playing with a simple audio/mpeg attribute triggering the QuickTime7 player to kick in gear.
(It started doing that after copying a dll in the installation directory and pasting it in the Opera plug-in directory.)
So,
<embed src="../../rootDirectory/subDirectory/tuneTest.mp3" width="140" height="17" autostart="true" loop="FALSE" type="audio/mpeg" wmode="transparent"> </embed>
does the job up to the point of auto-playing the tune without controls being displayed when triggered by XP Pro on the Windows platform. This is an utmost strange behavior of the 10.10 browser since that same browser running on the OSX platform DOES show the player controls.
Do you get it? I don't!
But there's hope. A final solution to this problem can't be far away anymore.
Tx to all at Opera for assisting while trying to solve this problem.Just modified screen-shots in new album

Shwetank,
I can't do anything more than that mate.
It's pretty insane we still haven't found a solution to make an ordinary mp3 file play.
Please don't force me to leave Opera all together just because of that.
Hoping you could still come up with something...

I need a movie before I go ballistic

SD, Mindstein and me solved the OSX problem meanwhile.
I hope you guys can fix that XP Pro problem while I'm watching a film to recover from my repetitive strain injuries.
It doesn't make sense this player runs like a charm on OSX
whereas it refuses stubbornly to that on the paralleled XP Pro.
The only thing it keeps showing is 'Plug-in content' in a grayed-out rectangle.
No song is playing under Windows yet.
I'll be back after the movie.Reducing the height attribute just solved yet another problem
Monday, March 8, 2010 5:14:55 PM
The white space (only visible in the Opera browser) framing the player controls has disappeared as well in the meantime. I fixed that problem by modifying the height attribute. That didn't affect the player control display in Safari.
Now all systems (except for the pull-down options) seem to sing when running them in the secondary Opera on the OSX platform.
They still don't sing in the primary Opera on the XP Pro platform running parallel to the OSX...

adding wmode="transparent" attribute to embedded player code

Adding this snippet didn't do the code nor the player controls display any good.
PRO
it didn't stop Safari from singing!
CON
1) Option pull-down menu doesn't work.
2) The player controls are displayed in a white box.
Houston still has a problem launching that mp3 in Opera 10.10 on the Windows platform though.
We are getting there on the OSX platform...
The tune is already singing but the controls still look and (partially) act differently.
