Yann Tiersen - Very much plugged in

French composer and multi-instrumentalist Yann Tiersen brought his rock band to the Brighton Komedia. Tiersen's delicate compostions therefore had a rawer edge, and probably didn't benefit that much from the extended rock-out moments added to the end of most of them.

Yann wowed with his violin and accordian, but was sadly missing his piano. And a female vocalist. I had assumed that he wouldn't be touring with a string quartet so wasn't expecting the tour de force as recorded in his fantastic live album C'etait Ici.

This YouTube video is pretty representative of what his current tour looks and sounds like.

Sunday

Spent most of the week either side of Easter weekend decorating the lounge. Progress since then has been slow; there's nothing back on the walls, the bookcases are still empty, and so on. Sunday's plan for sorting out Energy Consumption Corner was put on hold in favour of lazing in the park with Matts, Meg & Janine. And daughters.

Then Matt and I sped north to visit Teresa in hospital, rescued her, and took her down the pub.

So, moving Energy Consumption Corner was put back 'til tonight, where it was christened by Mark & Stuart, whose new show pretty much negates the need to put the television on in the evening. There's now a clear stretch of good radio from The Archers at 7, through later Late Junction (Kershaw on Mondays) to Book of the Week / The Seventh Dimension at half midnight.

This easter, Peter began to understand The Quickstep a little better. He learnt how to play Puerto Rico, and spent rather a lot of time in The Pub.

Slitherlink

Japanese puzzle magazine publisher Nikoli created Slitherlink, in which you create a looping line on a grid, guided by the numbers 0,1,2 & 3.

Japanese software company Hudson then added Slitherlink to their extensive range of Nintendo DS puzzle games.

Slitherlink and the DS is a marriage made in heaven, as noted here; I potter away on the puzzles with my afternoon tea.

No word of a UK release, but thankfully, the Japanese version is fairly easy to navigate around.
