A Canadian in Ireland

Doesn't have the ring of "An American in Paris" (or even "An American at Opera") but what can you do?

More Canadians in Ireland

, , , ,

Purely by chance I learned that RTE 2 is showing Corner Gas. My brother had told me about this sitcom a couple years ago, but I only got to watch it when I was in BC this May.

Corner Gas is set in Dog River, a fictional town, but it's filmed in Rouleau, Saskatchewan.

A fine location, as hungry will attest.

OWhat have I been up to?

What night is it on, I must keep an eye out for it

San 11. September 2007, 01:11

That's one of my favorite shows. Glad you can see it there.

Mick-E 11. September 2007, 09:12

Oops, should have said it was on last night /this morning @ 1.20 am. Next week it will be 12.40.

In classic RTE style they put a new "foreign" show on in the middle of the night whenever it fits in the schedule

I hope you'll like it sprogger, it's best described as a Canadian Kilinaskully

You like Corner Gas San? Brent Butt is great!

Eliane a/k/a Elly 11. September 2007, 17:19

I wonder if BBC America will carry this show soon? I'll keep an eye out!

San 11. September 2007, 17:28

All the characters are great. I love how they pick on Lacey, and Hank's stupidity, and Davis the cop. And all of these actors are very accomplished as well. I don't think I'd ever seen Eric Peterson in a comedic role before.

Mick-E 11. September 2007, 18:45

Hi Elly, it was just announced that the show will be on "Superstation" WGN in the States. You can read all about it here.

And be sure to watch the youtube clip at the bottom of the page.

Mick-E 11. September 2007, 18:48

Yeah they are Sandy  I like Oscar and Emma. They really compliment each other.

Eliane a/k/a Elly 11. September 2007, 19:22

Cool, I'll check it out! WGN -- gosh, you amaze me, MJ! You always get the info! Thanks

Eliane a/k/a Elly 11. September 2007, 19:22

I'll watch the clip later! Got to get son at school.

Mick-E 11. September 2007, 21:29

:o: It's nothing really. I was looking at the Corner Gas site and they were making a big deal about the fact that the show was coming to America.

hungryghost 11. September 2007, 21:33

I have no telly so have never seen the show, but if it's filmed in Saskatchewan, which has many rolling hills, and once used to be home to the majestic Grey Wolf, I'm absolutely certain it must be a great show like all things Saskatchewan are.

:D :D

hungryghost 11. September 2007, 21:33

Sanhsan, you watch too much t.v.

tsk tsk tsk

Mick-E 11. September 2007, 21:52

You don't know what you're missing hungry.

hungryghost 11. September 2007, 23:36

au contraire....Sanshan will know what I mean...

San 12. September 2007, 02:07

It's an excellent show...with sumfink on every level.

Mick-E 12. September 2007, 07:37

Wish I knew what you meant hungry

San 12. September 2007, 14:02

I think it has something to do with now having soul possession of the channel changer.

hungryghost 12. September 2007, 15:34

He who has the remote has the power! Let none gainsay this!

Mick-E 12. September 2007, 19:24

Having the remote is great, though I question it's usefulness without a telly.

hungryghost 12. September 2007, 20:04

this is true...but remotes can get out of hand. In my parents' house, my sister and I once gathered all the remotes together and counted them. 11 for various appliances including cameras and air-conditioners.....

Mick-E 12. September 2007, 21:03

:faint:

Eliane a/k/a Elly 12. September 2007, 21:05

Hey, gonna try to watch Corner Gas today!

Mick-E 12. September 2007, 23:14

Look forward to hearing what you thought.

Eliane a/k/a Elly 13. September 2007, 20:55

Shoot -- baseball game preempted the show :faint:

Will keep an eye out for it!

Darn it!!!! :eyes:

Mick-E 13. September 2007, 21:45

 I think it's only previews this week. They start showing full episodes on the 17th.

Marcus 13. September 2007, 22:00

I've never seen this show before and will have to see if I can get it here this fall.

Mick-E 13. September 2007, 23:08

Where is "here" Marcus? I can try and find out.

Marcus 15. September 2007, 15:24

Homer: Doh! I'm on the east coast of America lol

Mick-E 15. September 2007, 17:50

Ok, then WGN is your best bet, I think. If you're close to the border you might be able to pick up CTV.

Marcus 17. September 2007, 22:09

I'm nowhere near the Canadian border, but we do get WGN on cable here.

Marcus 17. September 2007, 23:12

Thanks for the link.
