Just thought I'd take a minute now that lectures have finished and before my final exams start in two weeks to check in and see how you all are.

It was a bit mad coming up to the end. All the lecturers trying to make sure they have all the material covered and the assignments assigned. Three tests and two papers in the last two weeks. Overall my marks are ok. I'll still want to do well on the exams, but I'm not panicking... yet.

Otherwise we've been trying to get all the arrangements for the trip to Vancouver organised - accommodation, car rental, etc. Though the brother has been a big help with local knowledge.

I was going to surprise him with a pair of Guinness cufflinks for his tux, but I wanted to make sure that he would need them. So, trying to be sneaky, I asked the maid of honor if she could try and find out.

Turned out he was going to ask me to get him a pair. Great minds think alike (and something about fools  )

I'll be popping in and out, but don't expect to see too much of me 'til the end of May. :spock:

It just hit me

The other day I was talking to someone about my brother's fiance, and I referred to her as
My future sister-in-law.

After I'd said it, the full meaning of that phrase suddenly dawned on me.

I got Nothin'

but a dose of gastro-enteritis :yuck:

What next? (Your opinions matter, please vote in the new poll. >>> :D )

The hand is improving though, small mercies.

So when I say I got nothin' what I'm really saying is don't feel offended if I haven't commented on your blog for a while, I'm still reading.

Just with everything that's been happening lately I'm not much in the humor. But I'm getting there slowly.

In the meantime, patience is a virtue

A Health Update

, ,

First the good news.

I was back to the fracture clinic on Friday for a check up. The doctor was pleased with how my hand was progressing and said that I was ok with just the splint. In fact I didn't need to use that all the time, just to protect my hand. I could get away with only taping my fingers up. I can also start exercising my fingers to get them moving again, by squeezing a balled sock.

Now the bad news.

I'm moving, but it's hurting. Specifically when I move the wrong way and put pressure on the break. :yikes: And I've given myself a couple of knocks getting used moving without the protection of a cast.

I'm still not sleeping great, which has left me a bit run-down and susceptible... to stuff like the dose I seemed to have picked up yesterday. :yuck:

So on top of everything my head aches, I'm stuffed up, and my stomach is "off" (the less said about that the better  )

The worst thing though is that I have to make another whiny blog post about all my troubles.

I hope the rest of the OC is faring better out there.

PS I have another appointment in three weeks, hopefully that will be the end of this broken hand record saga.

Lines are now closed...

, ,

But I can't find a way to stop people voting in the poll so I'll just have to ask you nicely not to.

My hand was really hurting all last night and I just couldn't stand it anymore, so I rang the hospital this morning and they told me to come back to A & E.

The doctor had a look, and then

:wait:

he cut it off. :yikes:

No, not my hand, the cast. :D

I'm in a sort of fabric splint now. Still sore, but better than it was. Hopefully I can get back to school tomorrow.

Not how I intended to get plastered for the holidays

My hand is broken and in a cast. Using computer is very tricky, typng almost impossible.

But please don't worry, I'm basically ok.

Full story when I can manage. Signing off for now.

Have a Happy New Year. :spock:

Tea and Sympathy

I do NOT need this right now. :irked:

I'm supposed to be studying for the Christmas exams, but I woke up Saturday morning feeling like death warmed over. :yuck:

Stuffed up, achy, and I think somebody has been at the inside of my throat with a Brillo pad. Of course the last thing I feel like doing is cracking a book.

Anyway, misery loves company and I sense a certain ennui present in the OC. So there's a brew on and coffee too. Pull up a chair and tell us your troubles. :coffee:

Not much of a friend

, ,

That would be me Homer: Doh!

I make all these sweeping statements about the importance of friendship, and then I go and all but disappear for three weeks.

:yuck: I don't even want to think about all my friends' important events that I've missed.

Sincere apologies to:

Louis and San for missing the football.

The Sproggers for missing their anniversary.

Elly for missing her birthday.

Duplo for missing his MOTW.

And this is just the stuff I know I missed. I'm sure there's lots more. :frown:

So just a general "Sorry" to all the OC who I feel I've slighted.

But what has Mick been doing with himself, you ask.

Well, I answer, lots of fun things. Like

All of which involves healthy amounts of study and homework :hat:

(Before you feel too sorry for me, I'm actually enjoying my course overall.)

So I wouldn't count on seeing much of me before the middle of December. As someone kindly pointed out today, there's less than three weeks to midterm exams. :faint:

And there was much rejoicing

All together now, "Yaay" :D
