A Canadian in Ireland

Doesn't have the ring of "An American in Paris" (or even "An American at Opera") but what can you do?

Patiently waiting for the house to blow away

, , ,

It is SERIOUSLY windy outside.

So I'm sat here listening to the gusts howl around the house and the rain hammer down. Wondering if there will be any damage. :worried:

That, and getting annoyed when the Sky goes down 'cause the dish is being blown about. I'm trying to watch Scrapheap Challenge. :irked:

It's starting to, though not before the power went out for a minute.

hungryghost 17. January 2009, 19:36

It's sounds like the big bad wolf story!!

Hope all settles down soon Mickey

Sprogger McSprog 17. January 2009, 20:24

Ya, Ive been hearing tearing sounds form the roof all afternoon, hopefully it (the roof) will still be there in the morning.
Good luck

Mick-E 17. January 2009, 20:30

The power went again, but it does seem to have died down a good bit. On the weather they said there were record gusts of 174kph and 10m waves off the Atlantic coast :yikes:

Mick-E 17. January 2009, 20:36

That's not good sprogger. :frown: Good luck to you too.

Léazz 18. January 2009, 03:46

Hope Everyone will be safe. Amin.

Mick-E 18. January 2009, 16:10

Made it so far. Some branches came down, wind caught the garden furniture and blew it around a bit, but nothing major.

The wind has died down a good deal, it snowed in the night. Now we're having showers of sleet and hail. :yuck:

Sprogger McSprog 18. January 2009, 16:33

pretty much the same over here but without the snow, just massive amounts of hail.
Glad to hear you got through in one piece

Léazz 18. January 2009, 16:43

Glad everyone is ok. Take care Sprogger and Sir Mick. I will bid ya all goodnight now. God bless.

Mick-E 18. January 2009, 17:19

How's the roof sprogger? And the temperature? It's bloody freezing here.

Thanks for your concern Leazz. Good night

Sprogger McSprog 18. January 2009, 18:47

well none of the rain came in at least
it is bloddy freezing here too and an "interesting" week of weather ahead if the forecast is to be trusted.

Léazz 19. January 2009, 02:56

Mick-E 19. January 2009, 17:20

That's good sprogger. Though now you probably have sleet and snow to deal with like we do. Interesting driving this morning, once I'd unburied the car.

David Scott Aubrey 25. January 2009, 08:18

Do you have a fireplace? 'Cause sitting in front of the fireplace with a good book while all that's going on outside would be the best place to be ...

Léazz 25. January 2009, 14:30

Hi Sir Mick and all, everything's ok now? How are you?

Mick-E 25. January 2009, 21:53

On the plus side: The winds stopped several days ago, though since it has been quite cold and wet. It's been frosty at night, which means the roads are slippery in the morning.

On the minus: I picked up a bad dose during the week. I've been off school and the doctor put me on antibiotics. It's left we basically wiped out. The forecast says the rain and cold will continue and the winds will be coming back. :frown:

Léazz 26. January 2009, 00:42

Oh, you take care Sir Mick and hope you recovered well.
