Back in Sthlm on Sunday morning! :D

A day in Lycksele

, , , ...

Yesterday we decided that we would drive to a city, 24 miles from Umeå, called Lycksele. So after 10 in the morning we drove away and two hours later arrived in Lycksele and to the Zoo of the city. I have not been in zoo since I was around 13 years old.It was so funny to see the animals and take pics of them.

The special thingy with this zoo is that all of the animals live in Sweden only. I will defintely upload the rest of the pics when I am back in Sthlm.

After having been in the zoo, we went to eat burgers from up here, and they are definitely MUCH better than McDonalds and Burger King. The name of the company is Frasses, and you get everything in one menu. :D Should I get this car? p:

After our late lunch we took a walk in the centre of the small town, and paid a visit to a café. I have to admit that my caffe latte was not the cheapest that I have bought but it was the BEST caffe latte I have had (to drink) in my whole life. And that it had a design didn't make it worse.

On our way back to Umeå, we stopped close to Vindelälven (a river) and took pics. Muñeco loved that little outing to the nature, he even went down to the river and was jumping from one stone to another to not get wet. And right afterwards he started to run around the car, a sign that he was at his best and feeling good.

Back in the north

I have had a very good day today, even though I have slept only 5 hours all in all.
As I wrote in my earlier post I met very nice people yesterday on the train. Just before 23 in the evening me and one of them started to watch "Down with love" and when the movie was over both of us were tired and had no difficulty in falling assleep. I set the alarm clock to 0325 but woke up 25 minutes after the time that i had set originally, and I had no idea of where I was, and I presumed that I had passed the station where I had to get off the train. But I calmed down after that one of my travel buddies had told of that the train was over 30 min late.
We arrived only one hour before we were about to take the bus to Ume! So, since i did not want Mune to caught a cold we took a walk and say am old wagon. When we were on our way back to the bus station it started to pour rain as if heaven was crying rivers.
After having arrived in my final destination i slept a couple of hours before we took a trip to a food store.

For lunch we ate 'hot dogs' in a park. The weather hasnt been the best and it will probably continue raining til Thursday at least. Hopefully I will get to see some sun during the last days of summer here in the north. I will be leaving for Sthlm on Saturday, so I may have a chance after all of seeing some sun light.

Annoying long trip<br/>

We are now on our way to Umeå. But this trip will not be as the others that i have done up to the north. We left Sthlm after 18 and for the first time ever I have been talking a lot with my travel buddies and very interesting topics have been mentioned and discussed. The bad part of this trip is that we will be arriving in a station close to Ume, just before 4 in the morning, and will have to wait two hours to take a bus and finally arrive in my final destination at 0630.

Shopping Mania!?

Today was a crazy day, because of several things...but I'll mention only one of them. :right: Okay, maybe two. Perhaps even three. p:

I. What I never thought about myself did happen today! I had a strong urge for doing some shopping! I have to say that this is the second time that it happens this year. That's a record!!! And since there is a realisation of the cloths in every single store I did the most shopping ever in my whole life (at once). I bought about eight (8) articles of clothings. Only six of them are visible in the picture above. Besides the viewable clothings I bought a big (brown) handbag and a light-blue shirt. If you would want to see my new shoes closer, you just have to press on the picture.

II. I finally told my mother what I'm thinking about doing this coming fall. And she took it, by far, better than what I had dread. Although she keeps saying that I should continue with my Engineering studies. :o: But now it has been said. I feel so peaceful!

III. I'm going to Umeå tomorrow (Sunday) evening. It has been almost three months since I was there the last time. And of course, Muñeco is coming with me. I don't really know when I'm coming back to Sthlm, but latest on Sunday morning since I have to work in the afternoon. I will take a couple of books with me, but I'm sure that I won't be bored since I will have a third technological friend over there...a TV! :hat:

Blog+Vlog

, , , ...

Yes, here comes a blog and a vlog. Funny, right? I have been thinking what I can do so that my phonie-friends can follow me at the same time as I post vlogs. Any ideas? The best thing may be to do as I am doing now. Post some in blog-form and a some in vlog-form. :worried: Help me, give me some ideas!!! :o:

I went to the vet today. There is nothing to worry about. We will do Ultrasound on him to hopefully find out what the reason to him fainting the other day is.

Perfect Model

Yesterday and today I have been working in a grocery store, and I like it. To walk around in the store, putting goods in their right places, thinking my own thoughts, listening to music/books, is not very bad. And the best part of this two passed days was that the atmosphere was somehow better that the time before this one. There was more laughter in overall. Could it be because this time there were more guys than gals? Or maybe simply because the different personalities connected?

Afterwards, my little family (mother, me, Muñe) went to do some shopping. But what you probably are not completely aware of, is that dogs (that would be Muñeco in this case) are not allowed to walk (be) in shopping malls. So, we...being CLEVER, put him in a wagon for groceries. And he is just the PERFECT model ever! I am so proud of being his "mother" :headbang: We will go to the vet tomorrow.

Scared!

I got home after having worked all day, and Muñeco was waiting at me. He got so excited that he finally had difficulties to breath. It happens from time to time. But this time it was horrific! :frown: He was sitting when he started to caugh without managing to breath...and then he couldn't manage to be stable on his legs, his body was falling down to the floor. I took him up at once and then he fainted. I started to scream his name. I could not believe that something as terrible as this was happening to my sweetheart. Even though I yelled a lot, he was still in the 'middle-world'. I poured water onto his head and had to give him air through the mouth-to-mouth method. After a couple of seconds he came back to this world. I thank God for having helped us come back to each other. I would have been devastated without my best friend and follower. awww

We took a walk directly after he recuperated. Can you see that I love him?
Click on the pic to see my heart (Muñeco) lying on a hill (my favourite place in this area) with the view of the centre of Bredäng (the place where we live).

Last post of the day

Okay. I know that I have bombarded some people who are subscribed to my blog with posts today. And I have no idea where I got all my motivation from. But I promise you that no more posts will come today. Expect this one of course! p:

I have been working on a secret project today, and if everything works out as I want to I will post it. The question is when...but I will try to finish it before the end of this week. Oh well, I noticed that I was late for my meeting with a family friend, I ate very fast, took a shower, got dresssed and ran out with my follower, Muñeco. The three of us went to a café in the surroundings of my place and bought some delicacies. Well, he ate the pie and I drank coffee (with a LOT of milk). The area was wonderful. We could see the lake Mälaren.

What do you think about the view?
Of course I had to take pics on the only day that hasn't rained since I got back from Bolivia!
And Muñe could walk around as much as he wanted.

Right after we got back into the car, it started to pour rain, but as soon as we got to my place it had stopped. *phew* Now the sun is shining. Strange weather! :right:

Now I have some duties to realize.

André a.k.a. Decaspecht

One of my first friends here on MyOpera was André. When I was in Bolivia, online we used to chat. The problem was that at the same time as we chatted I used to write my updates for this community...and he thought that I did not want to talk to him. Oh well, he just logged out without letting me give him any explanation and from that day we have not spoken to each other.

When I was 9/10 years old, I went to a party in Bolivia. It was the first party where girls and boys danced with each other because we wanted to...and I always remembered a special song from that party but I never knew its name nor the singer, and I always tried to explain the song to André. Today, when I was looking at my Hitslink I found that somebody had looked for the lyrics to the song...and a bit down on the list I found THE SONG! So, here it is...I will simply dedicate it to André.

Bright future

, , , ...

These two people in the picture are both bolivians. The one in the left is the vice president of the country and his name is Alvaro García Linera, and the one in the right is Evo Morales, as all of you should now.

This picture is lovely, beautiful and just awesome. Can you tell that I like both of them? p:

/// Mizz Martínez

Victory for Bolivia and Evo!

Evo Morales got a lot more than I expected. Evo got a lot more than he got when he won the elections back in 2005. This can be resumed in one word:

VICTORY!

This is victory for freedom and for a much better future. This time, the people of Bolivia made a very wise choice. According to a national TV-station, he got over 63.27% of the support while 3 years ago he got only 54%. Only three prefects have been removed; the prefect of La Paz (opposition), Cochabamba (opposition) and Oruro (officialist), the others remain.

At the moment as I am writing this, Evo Morales - The President of Bolivia, is having his speech. I just have to thank him for all the good decisions that he has taken.

/// Mizz Martínez

Referendum Revocatorio

Today is a very important day in Bolivia, since the future of the country will be either bright or dark. A Referendum has been taking place today since 8 in the morning, local time. I don’t know if you have heard about, and no matter if you have or not I will be grateful if you tell me either way. In Bolivia there are nine states (La Paz, Chuquisaca, Beni, Pando, Tarija, Potosí, Oruro, Cochabamba and Santa Cruz) and each of them have their own prefect who has most power in them. When Evo Morales won the election back in December 2005, six prefects with opposite views to him won in six of the nine states. Right from the start there has been a lot of defamation in the whole country, mostly against the honourable President of Bolivia. Last year, after many problems that Evo had to endure, and many changes in favour of the people instead of the oligarchy, six of the prefects demanded a Referendum where the support of Evo should be put at stake. Their demand would have had no effect unless Evo Morales would accept it, something that he also did. But the interesting part is that he added something to their demand. It would be a Referendum where either he would stay, or where the prefects would. First, the prefects were gladly surprised since they had definitely not expected that reply from the President but when the time passed they started to wonder if the Referendum could be constitutionally correct even though it had been themselves who had proposed it from the beginning. Rumours started to spread around that there were terrorism going on in Bolivia supported by Venezuela when a former military had been in nearby a channel station in Yacuiba, Tarija. Those rumours had not exactly been confirmed even thought there has been a couple of illegal interrogations by the opposition. What they never mention is the terrorism created by the broadcasting media, mostly owned by people in the opposition. About two or three weeks ago, when I was still in Bolivia, five prefects accepted to go to the Referendum after all. The only one that did not is the prefect of Cochabamba, who still refuses to accept it. What is important to remember is that it is not only the prefects in the opposition that are participating in the Referendum of today, but eight out of nine. Why the prefect of Chuquisaca is not participating is because she was elected back in July and should not be removed from her position.

So, here I am, waiting for the polling stations to close in less than an hour and hoping for good results. Now, what many of you probably don’t know is how the elections take place. Once you are voting, you have two choices to make; one about the President and Vice-President and the other about the prefect of your state. You can choose if you want to keep both the President and the prefect or just one of them. More than 4 million of Bolivians will have voted today. The President needs to have 47% to continue his work, while the prefects need to achieve the same percentage as when they was elected, plus one. This percentage lies between 37% and 48%.

What I don’t really understand is why the opposition are questioning everything that Evo Morales is doing. Okay, I am lying. I do understand. They want to benefit themselves and not the whole country. When Hugo Chávez and Venezuela help Bolivia, g.e. with money, the opposition starts talking shit about that action. But if Bolivia would get money (take a loan) from USA, they would not even open their filthy mouths. :bomb:

It would be a lie to say that this day’s Referendum has been without any problems. Even though the preparations for today have been very carefully planned there was an incident in Yucumo, Beni. The voting papers were stolen early in the morning. The good news is that new voting papers were transported by air to Yucumo as soon as the theft had been reported. In one suburb, that gives its massive support to the current government of Bolivia, of Santa Cruz de la Sierra, in the state of Santa Cruz, many young militants of the opposition went to attack those who wanted to vote.

The only thing I have left to say is: May Evo Morales win. He is the best leader that Bolivia has had in years if not in the entire history of Bolivia. Bolivia deserves to have a bright future. That future goes hand in hand with Evo.

Thanks to all the international support. Thanks Spain, Thanks Venezuela, Thanks Sweden.

08 nightlife

, , , ...

Last Friday was a day of a surprise, laughter and cry. When I was on my way to uni to do my test I got a call and I was told that I could pick up my Macie the same afternoon. A couple of minutes before I had decided that I would go with Erik (one comrade from Youth Left) to a meeting about Bolivia, between my test and the reunion with my high school class. So I was already stressed about how I would manage with everything when I got the call. The test was much harder than what I expected but on the other hand I think (hope?) that I will pass it this time. Right after having done the test I went to pick up Macie, ran back to the tube and home, to change clothes, walk with Muñeco and then out again to the meeting. By the time I arrived in Kafé Marx I was late by 40-45 minutes. But I did not have to shame about it…after all people came and went all the time. At around 20.30 I felt like leaving and so I did. Just before the test I received a text message from Lisa telling that the reunion had been cancelled and that only our group was left…and that we could still hang out, eat dinner, take a couple of drinks. And therefore, when I arrived at the coffee-shop where they had been eating I was not entirely surprised that they were few people, but I was surprised that there were only three of the gang out of seven. Oh well, we decided that we would go to Stureplan since Wen wanted to buy a diadem (?) and at the same time we could watch the transformation of the place to a big bar/discoteque. When arriving in Stureplan we were six all in all; me, Wen, Sofia, Halif (Wen’s buddy), Christian and Agnes (both German exchange students). Since the time was getting closer to 22.00 we decided to start walking to Slussen to watch the fireworks from there. On our way there, just before leaving Stureplan, Sofia and I decided that we needed some refreshment, and bought ourselves one bottle of beer each…and cool as we are we smuggled them out to reach Slussen in time just before the beautiful game of colours in heaven. But we did not drink our bottles all the way there, we had to drink them up before the police would caught us (since it is illegal according to Wen to drink alcoholic beverage on the streets of our city), and therefore our happy-level was perfect even though it had already been good from the start. :hat:

The fireworks were fine, I was not really amazed by it…After all, I am no fan of fireworks. :left: Now, after having seen them we decided to go to some bar in the SoHo-district of Sthlm, since the beer there is much cheaper than in Stureplan, and thereafter go back to the expensive area to see the final transformation of the place. On my way to Slussen I had received a couple of text messages from Lisa where I was told why she had not continued to be with us. Therefore I called her and we decided to meet and have a talk. It was this talk that made me cry since I was vulnerable.

We talked about our friendship, and how my writing in this blog had made both her and Mona angry with me. If you remember (which I think you don’t, but anyways…) I wrote a while ago that I felt more comfortable with Wen than with my other friends. The thing is that I had noticed that I did not want to meet any of them because of my failure in my Engineering studies. But this I did not put on the post, but now I am finally doing it. I feel that I have grown a lot during this last year, and I am pretty sure that if I would have continued to hang out with them I would have not. I just felt that it was for the best. Now, they did not like that I could hang out with them only during a couple of hours, and they felt like they always had to adjust themselves to me. I did not want to be a burden to them, and that was also one of the reasons to why I reduced my contact with them. After all, they would not have been able to help me with anything. I was the one who had to solve it. So, now…Mona and Lisa…I am making my apologies official. I think that my relationship with Lisa is better now, after all we had the talk and could laugh next to each other later. I don’t know about Mona, but I have apologised. Now, if you (Mona) feel that you don’t want to continue our friendship, I will accept it.

In general, I had a very pleasant evening, specially with Sofia, my drinking-partner! We were the ones who drank the most (in our gang) and the ones who left first! :headbang: Ah, and we took a wonderful picture just before both of us left and the others continued to Stureplan.
Isn’t it a really wonderful picture? Me like it.

Today is The Day of Stockholm..and so far it has been marvellous! I went to the Globe (Globen) to eat breakfast, and it was filled with people. A wonderful initiative taken by the leaders of this "state". During and after breakfast a karaoke-competition took place..and as long as I stayed in the Globe the singers were not the best. Not because I would have done it better but it is always fine to criticize, right? p: There will be concerts during the day in the city, big screens around town showing the ceremony of the Olympic Games and the fireworks which will be fired in the evening. Stureplan, a place similar to Manhattan, will be transformed to a big nightclub. When I was going to The Globe I got a bun formed as an "8". I am, definitely, a proud 08! :headbang:

Apparently I look much smaller as well..according to two of my neighbours. :left:

I am definitely looking forward tomorrow evening, even though I dont have very high expectations about the reunion itself. Compared to the reunions in Bolivia it will probably not even reach the same good-feel level..but it gives a chance to party, or at least give it a try. But first I will have to make a test. :yuck:

Sony Ericsson W760i

Yes, that is the name of my wonderful new mobile and if you dont have any idea of how it works you should look it up. I am in love with a second material thing. As you know my former mobile got stolen during my second evening in Santa Cruz, Bolivia..and I have had to live almost seven weeks without it...but now I can go back to my former life. This new term, and the start of my "new" life has started perfectly! On Monday I got my mobile number back, and today I bought this wonderful mobile. But to tell the truth I was very worried about how I would manage to the end of this and next month. I got paid my salary for May..but that was gone yesterday with all my bills. I can not ask my mother for any money anymore, foremost because she will not support me with anything anymore, now that I am not continuing with Engineering. She thinks that everything was a dance on roses before..and she doesnt even care about knowing the truth..so I have to grow up economically now. :right: I was seriously thinking about asking X to give me money..or take a loan to survive these months, after all my economy will be much better in September after having received my August-salary and the money for my studies. But now it has been solved by the return of my taxes..and the best part is that I got back a lot more than what I expected, to be precise..three times more! :headbang:

I am pretty happy with this mobile (should I give it a name? ), mostly because it is GPS-compatible but also because it is yellow (my fave colour) and black. And that it has Edge, 3G and Turbo3G makes it only better! Some of you, my beloved friends, are tech-freaks (g.e. Mik, Kimmie, Alla, etc.) so why dont you tell me your opinion about my new friend? p:

Some more news about my life? I am desperatly looking for a new job where I can get a better salary so that I can start paying my mother all the debts I have to her..but also to feel much more independent and save money for future trips and things. Most of the money I got back from the tax-agency will be gone this month after having bought a two years garantee for my Macie, paid my internet conection and books for my courses.

The strangest thing with my mother is that I can never be sure were I have her. Last Friday I thought that she had accepted my decision about my studies since she did not put up with a fight..how wrong I was! She continues asking if I will continue studying what I once started and when my answer is the same as on Friday she says that she will stop every kind of relationship with me. I just keep quiet after that comment..what could I possibly reply to that? It is better to just let it be. She knows that I will be studying this coming term but she has not even asked what I will be studying..funny, isnt it?

Ok, I better finish this post, install MiniOpera and start cleaning my room. See you around!

Go 08

Something that many of you may not know is that 08 is the codenumber for Stockholm in Sweden...and on Friday, on the 8th of August (8) of 2008 = 080808 there will be big celebrations taking place here in this wonderful city. I don't think that I will be able to participate in many of the arrangements but the idea is wonderful. To celebrate the city on a day just because the date fits in with our codenumber! I love the idea! :headbang:

Back in town

The trip back to Europe went just fine with a two hours long delay in Sao Paolo but since Lufthansa is on strike we had to check in our bagage once again (not literaly). The girl from TAM Mercosur was very helpfull and as soon as it was our turn to get hel the personnel for Lufthansa was changed and the woman we got was the most non-serviceminded woman I have ever met. Her name is Susanne Walter. Just thinking about her makes me sick! :yuck: Anyways, we got got to Sweden very late in the evening/early in the morning. As soon as we got home we began to unpack and fell asleep between 4 and 5 in the morning (22-23 Bolivian time).

I had planned to call Anna early in teh morning but I woke at 11, so it was not very early after all. After midday, I was finally reunited with Muñeco. He has a slightly different appearance but he is still the little beautiful thing I left behind. I am happy that he has been fine here...I can see it in him!

The following days, very little has been done. What all three pf us have done most is...slept. My mother and I have had a difficulty adjusting to the long summer nights and both of us are longing for our next trip to Bolivia :o:

You know something? My mother knows about my plans for my coming future...and I am a bit surprised about her reaction...but I guess that I have let her know about it by not answering completely with interest to her questions. So, now she knows that I wont continue studying Engineering...but she thinks that I will get back to it sometime in the future when I am OLD!

This week much will not happen. I will probably get my chip-card with my old mobile number by the end of this week. My Macie will be repaired and at home as well...to the end of this week. I will have applied to several jobs. I will have paid several bills...and my internet connection will start working again. On Friday, under the 080808-term, I will be having a reunion with my high school classmates. And next week, I am planning to travel to Umeå. We will see about it...right now I have to go to the bank and deposit some money. Oh...and I have a couple of posts planned only for YOU!

6 hours away

I don´t want to leave Bolivia! When we left La Paz a couple of hours earlier I cried! I want to come back...but it will not be possible except for next year.

How can someone (ME) love this country so much?

I will be arriving in Sweden on the 31st of July, in the evening. :o:

Not fair

I don´t want to leave this wonderful country...and specially not after what happened this weekend.
On Saturday there was a big folklor festival (pics and vids will come later)...I watched a bit of it after having bought the most essential stuff for my trip back to Sweden. Later in the evening I met Rita and her friends...and amongst them people from my school here in Bolivia. After having been drinking some beers (Paceñan and Bock) I was dared to kiss one of our fellow mates...and later I found out that I was the most interesting girl on the party three weeks ago. All of the guys had spoken highly of me...even though I was pissed drunk at the end of that night. :o: Anyways, since this would be my last opportunity to party hard we went to a discoteque that was situated 6 floors above in a building...and our group of five people started to dance. After a couple glasses of beer a guy that I know from before (since we were both 6 years old and the one that I was dared to kiss earlier in the evening) started to teach me some "cumbia"...and before 1 in the morning we were suddenly a couple. It was not only the two of us...but all of our other friends (even Rita) were making out...All in all, a very special feeling. And I didnt even get drunk...I was actually sober when he kissed me ´Goodbye´ outside my place. This guy is not as the guys that I have met in Sweden...he acts more as I like it.. Too bad that I am leaving soon though...he says that he will wait for me, bla bla bla....but I dont want him to wait. It is simply not fair. Not fair against him. Well, no matter how this relationship works out I will always look back at this 6 weeks in Bolivia as one of my most precious moments in my life.

The good thing with the parties in Bolivia is that everybody are there under the same rules. Everybody is there breaking rules that parents have set...and makig their own. I just love it!

Today it is!

I have been online every day since Monday, but I havent written anything. The reason is simple, I did not have much to put! I have accepted my places in both courses/programs that I got accepted to...and looking at the schedules for this next term. I have the points needed to get money from the government for studies..but I just realized that I havent passed one course in Spanish. That sucks.

Anyways, in just 4 hours I will be getting tattooed! Yay!

See you hopefully tomorrow!

Now it is up to YOU!

Two days ago, on the day of the state of La Paz, besides being the 199th anniversary it was also the 28th year since one of the worst days in the history of Bolivia took place. That was the day that a man by the last names Garcia Mesa, made a coup d'état and started to kill people as flies. My uncle Jose Luis Martínez Machicao was not even interested in politics. Back in that time he used to work for the bank of the Bolivian state, and one day he was simply at the wrong place at the wrong time. Several months after the coup d'état of Garcia Mesa, there were demonstrations going on. one of the first socialist leaders in Bolivia was killed on the 16th of July...his name was Marcelo Quiroga Santa Cruz..and during the demonstration, my uncle was on his way to work. He got caught in one picture that was printed in a newspaper the day after. On the 12th of December 1980 he was taken away from his home and there is absolutely no knowledge about what happened to this very good and handsome man, whom I am sure would have been a perfect uncle, after the 21st of the same month and year.

Today a very honorable man is arriving in Bolivia. Hugo Chávez, the president of Venezuela, will be in Riberalta (a town in the north of Bolivia, in the state of Beni) together with the BEST presiden of Bolivia (Evo Morales) and the president of Brasil. They will be havig a ceremony since both Venezuela and Brasil are giving credits to Bolivia to build roads from the state of La Paz to the state of Beni and Pando (both situated in the north and in the amazons). And since it is very sad that I cant be in Riberalta when two of my favourite leaders are in the same country as myself, I am wearing a shirt to honour one of them...Hugo Chávez. My shirt has his face printed..and I am very proud to be an owner of such a beautiful shirt...I will post a pic of myself and the shirt another day (I forgot to bring the cable of my camera with me!)

I have a couple of good news to you all. Firstly, I am taking care of my hand. It is no longer infected but pretty swallon (?). I will begin a treatment against rabies on Monday, just in case of. Secondly, I will put a vlog during next week..so no you definitely have something to look forward to. Thirdly, I got in to the university that I wanted...and to the program that I wanted too! And...I got in to another course for the evenings, it is the first course in International Relations. Isn´t it awesome? :eyes: :hat: Now I will just have to tell it to my mother...the question is when. :worried: Oh...and fourthly, I will get a tattoo before leaving Bolivia. And here I need your help!!!! I cant decide what to tattoo. I have a couple of suggestions and you will be the ones who have power in this decision!

  1. "Machicao" tattooed below my Trinity-tattoo. Machicao is the surname of my maternal grandmother, and since I am not having it as my surname I would still want to wear it...and why not as a tattoo?
  2. A heart with "Bo+Swe" in it, to represent to two countries that I love the most.
  3. A collection of leaders that I admire (Either Ché Guevara, Hugo Chávez, Evo Morales or all of them together)

VOTE!

I got to go and eat some lunch now, I will get online on Monday...after my trip to the countryside and the Titicaca-lake!

LPZ-RBQ-LPZ

When I last updated you, I told you that I was going on a trip to the tropics. So far, it did happen. The specific place where we went is called Rurrenabaque and is situated in the middle of the state Beni (in the north of Bolivia). There are two ways of travelling to this town, mostly considered a village. The first one is by plane (55 minutes) and the other is by bus (20 hours). We chose the second one, mostly because it would be 75% cheaper but we had second thoughts about it. Why? Mostly because there had been a couple of accidents with deathly outcomes during the last weeks. Anyways, I think that if I have to die I will die matter how I travel. So, we took the bus on Thursday morning and did the 20 hours dangerous trip. Dangerous it certainly was! The roads are so narrow that only one car/bus can travel at a time. When two buses met, we were on the edge of falling down more than 1000 meters. That road is best known as the “Death Road” of Bolivia.

At 6 in the morning we arrived at the bust station in Rurre and we got to know that most agencies open at 7, and that the tours start after 9. We chose to see the pampas since, compared with the jungle, you get to see about 50% more of the fauna in the pampas. And we did get to see a lot of life after the three hours road trip. I have no idea how many pics I have snapped on the first day only. Anyhow, a bit before 16 we arrived at our camp just beside the river and I have to say that the view is AMAZING. Latr in the evening, just before dinner we went to a bar where we could se the sunset. It wasnt anythiung out of order. It was just a sunset...and if we wanted to...we could drink beer, something that I didnt. After seeing the sunset I laid on a hammock and fell asleep. My mother was out making new friends. :o: I woke up when it was time to return back to the camp and on our way we learnt to see if there were any alligator and/or camoens (?) in the river. We did it by using a torch. Alligatorns have orange eyes and camens have red ones. Pretty good to know, right?

The second day consisted in us going on a very long walk looking for snakes. After about two hours of walk we found a big cobra and a couple of minstes later an anaconda. It was very tiredning (?) to walk in the mud, river, and specially when the sun was shining as most. The temperature reached surely over 32 degrees C til midday. Everybody was starving by the time we reached the camp. What happened later? We had 2 hours of siesta and then it wore off to swinmming with the dolphins, but it wasnt an actual swin with the dolphins since they were on their own and the humans were on their own as well. The hot temperature made many people jump into the water but I did not since I saw no reason in doing it...I would not get to swin with the pink dolphins anyways. p: Homer: Doh! The day continued in what felt as slow motion. I did not go to see the sunset since I had already seen it the night before. Instead I stayed in the camp and took it easy in the hammock.

The third day would start at 6 in the morning to see the sunrise but I chose to sleep a little bit more. After breakfast we went piraya fishig. It was the second time, that I went fishing, in my whole life and it went very good. I caught, all in all, nine fishes, eight small pirayas and another kind of fish. Only three, out of the crew of seven, ate the pirayas...and I was one of them. :headbang: It didnt taste strange at all...except that the head tasted cheesy  Afterwards we were in a hurry to get back to Rurre, not for any special reason but because nobody looked forward to the three hour long road trip. When we finally arrrived to Rurrenabaque, on our search for a place to stay the night we found the office of the national military airling (TAM Bolivia) and got to know that there were two places left for the afternoon flight the same day. My mother went to the bus terminal to leaver our tickets but since she didnt found the responsible person we remained in Rurre that evening. That was what I wanted to do since I hadnt seen much of the town..nor the town on the other side of the river. The river is caleld Rio Beni (Beni River). The town on the other side of the river is called San Buenaventura and belongs to the state of La Paz while Rurre belongs to the state of Beni. :D As soon as I stepped on San Buenaventura it definitely felt as home, as La Paz. :right: There was a celebration over there becayse of its 146th anniversary. I think that the town is lovely! My mother sys that she will move to Rurre when she comes back to Bolivia, but I would much rather prefer to move to San Buenaventura. Ther was much more life, music and entrertainment going on compared to Rurre. I think that Rurrenabaque is more for tourists while San Buenaventura shows the true life of a town.
Even though it was Sunday, people (read: tourists) thought that it was a good evening to party on. I would have had a difficult time to sleep because of all the noise but I drak a cholada, which is a mix of Bolivian beer (to be more precise a beer called Paceña, from La Paz) and coke. In the beginning it didnt taste very good but after one little cup of this cholada I was drunk already. and after having drinken the whole can of Paceña and my bottle of coke I was ready for bed.

I woke up early the next morning and since I knew that my mother wanted to sleep I got dressed and went out for a walk. When I came down to the reception of the hotel I realized thatit was only 0650 in the morning. When I got back my mother had just woken up and after breakfast we decided to take a quick walk before having to go to the terminal of buses for departure to La Paz. We took a moto.taxi each, and were taken to a place from which we xould see the whole town and the one on the other side of the river.

Now you may wonder what the outcome of this short trip is. Well, it is the collection of over 300 pics, several bites of mosquitos and sunburns (on my neck, my arms and shoulderns). A very pleasant feeling ( :sst: except the sunburns of course)!

We arrived in La Paz very early in the morning of yesterday (05.15 am) and got home about one hour latr. Later in the day we travelled to the countryside where my grandmother was born. There was a woman in the bus who wanted to talk with me...but I couldnt understand anything of what she said, but still...she continued to talk in Aymara. Grrr....I really have to learn Aymara. :bomb: There was a celebration going on in Huarina as well, because of the anniversary of the independence of La Paz, and there was a dog in the crowd of people in search for food. I gave him some of the food I was given...and later on I was clapping the dog. This dog was not walking properly...but I clapped him...twice, and the second time I suppose that he got afraid, and therefore bite me in my right hand. It started to bleed and now I have to search for medical expertis every second day. :left:

Today, La Paz has celebrated its 199th anniversary...and I have just taken a walk to town to take some pics of the celebrations. I think that I will come back next year for the anniversary since the celebrations will be much, but much, bigger. It has already been mentioned that La Paz will be the capital of cultures in Iberoamerica next year.

This weekend I am going to the countryside again, but I will definitely try to update you more often now...depending on what happens here.

Wild and intoxicated weekend

I came to MyOpera last Thursday to update you on my life here in Bolivia, but Rita´s internet is not always very good and I could never post it! I will probably post it later on in the future. What I did put there was mainly that I love this city, and that it is quite strange how my opinions about La Paz has changed with the time. I used to hate this city because of its streets since I always fell down...but nowadays it is one of the most loveliest things I have seen. Not only its streets but also the lights in the evenings, the people, the culture, etc.

I think that I mentioned a while ago that I was going to travel to two places with my mother but now it seems like our plans have changed since there is simply not enough time for the two trips; we will be travelling to the tropics only and that will take place on Thursday of this week. We have not been in the countryside even once...we will go there first in two weeks, and hopefully my "cousin" Rita will come with me.

Oh...there was a very wild party this Saturday.
There was so much alcohol that people fell down on the dance-floor and were puking in the garden, toilet...almost everywhere. It was very VERY wild! But even though I didnt feel perfect all the time it was one of the best reunions I have been to. It was so much love and friendship in it. When somebody fell down, five friends got to the rescue of that person. At 7 pm most people were drunk... But even though I was pissed drunk and couldnt eat anything the day after, even though I was embarrassed but how I must have looked liked, even thought I was passed out from time to time...even thought it wasnt 11 pm yet, I was relieved yesterday when I met Rita and when she told me that there were some people who were even worse. The funny thing was that Vico (Victor Hugo) hasnt recuperated yet from that evening even though two days have passed. :right: But I feel completely okay now. I wonder how the others who stayed even longer than me and Vico felt on Sunday and yesterday.

Oh yeah...I forgot to tell you that I got a haircut last week, on Monday. What do you think about it? I will definitely get another one before I get back...and it is only 3 weeks left!

/// Mizz Martínez

Just...an update

Okay, more pics have been uploaded.

Instead of Adri, Rita came with me while our mothers stayed at her place talking. It was lovely to see how people accepted the gays and trans...but most of the people are not so open with this "new" thing. Oh well...at least they handed out many flyers and people will hopefully be more openminded with the years.

This week there will be a reunion of my former class here in Bolivia and I will definitely go if I dont travel to other parts of Bolivia (which I doubt I will be doing this week).

New photo album...

Okay, I have finally uploaded some photos. But it appears like all of them are not uploaded. Strange! :bomb:

A little photo update! :

Me with Illimani in the background..Lovely picture if I can say it myself! p:

What more?
Tomorrow is the Gay-Day here in Bolivia and there will be a parade in town. I really want to go and see everything! p: I hope Adriana can go with me...we may perhaps go to the teathre later in the evening with my mother. :right:

I will have to leave you here for today! I hope to be back online soon...

/// Mizz Martínez

Time is rolling

Gaah! I am dying! Okay, maybe not. The thing is that it is just now that I realize how much time I need to do an update on the net to all of my friends. The only thing I have done in 50 minutes is having:
  • written a letter to my sis ( :sst: Alla)
  • logged in to MSN, facebook and MyOpera
  • Chatted with José and a Bolivian friend
  • Written a letter to my "cousin"

And the time is rolling...now I have less than 5 minutes left. Here comes some sort of update. I´m sorry for the me not being online much this days...but I will really do my best from now on.

Okay, I have already met the people that I care the most for...my closest Bolivian friends: Adriana, Rita and her brother Victor Hugo and Omar. They are lovely people! I wanted to put up a picture of the three first but I know that it will take some time, so I will try to do it later on. :right:

I have received an injection (today) against the yellow fever, since we will be travelling up north to the pampas and jungle of Bolivia in a week. If I am lucky, I will be travelling to a really cold place here in Bolivia as well within three weeks, it is called "Salar de Uyuni". You could google it, so that I don´t have to explain! p:

Gosh, I have so much more to tell you... but it will come later.

Hugs to all of you!

d

A lot has happened, but I think the best is to to summarize all of it in bullet-points so that you won´t get bored reading it:

  • My mobile was stolen in a, very crowded, bus in Santa Cruz. We were on our way to the bus terminal to see if we could travel to La Paz that very evening. My mother had asked me for the hour, I had taken it out, looked at the time, changed pocket (in my pair of jeans). The bus got more and more crowded for every station. Anyways, Í guess that it was time for me to happen. After all, I have never had anything that personal stolen before. I have no longer any numbers, my pics are also lost, as well as all my beautiful text messages that I had saved.
  • We had to sleep over in the Airport since there was no bus going to La Paz after 21.00.
  • We took one of the first buses to Cochabamba (there was no one that went straight to La Paz), the trip took over 8 hours and we were able to experience some good hot weather.
  • We took the second bus to La Paz at 22.00. After a couple of hours in the bus, after some sleep. I got some kind of panic attack. I needed to get out and I kept asking the driver how much longer it would take for us to arrive to a rest-place. I had taken some pills and they needed to get out of my body. The pills was to feel better when arriving in La Paz. If you didn't know, La Paz is situated in an altitude of over 4000 meters above the sea level. This means consicutively that the air here is very thin, which makes it harder to breath till the body gets adjusted to it.
  • We got our home number installed
  • The people over here seems to have lost the revolutionary spirit. The "Rightiests" are getting their way, but their spirit has to rise a bit..before the 10th of August when there will be a referendum (?) here.

Anything more? Well, today we will go and buy food, shoes (for me), and other stuff. I'll take photos of most of La Paz but I want to take it easy with my camera mostly because I don't want it to get stolen again...and because I have to find a new cable for it (I knew that I had left it here when I was here two years ago, but I remembered recently that my mother took it back to Sweden last year).

Okay, that's it from me for now. On Tuesday it will be the coldest day in the whole year, and I know that I'll freeze. If I just tell you that I even sleep with my winter jacket on, then you can figure out how cold it already is. :o:

Shitty SHITTY shitty TRIP

During my few years of living this has definitely been my worst. To travel from Sweden to Bolivia used to take 18-20 hours a couple of years ago, now it took 30 hours. And we are not even in our final destination. :bomb:

Sthlm-London:
Me and my mother got separate places. I had to sit in the middle of a married (old=+50) couple, and even though I asked if they wanted to change places with me then refused to do it. Eejits! We were suppose to lift at 15.40 but did it at 16.30 instead. The reason? Mr. Bush (currrent President of USA) had to lift from Heathrow to Ireland, and we were not allow to even lift. How stupid isn't that? When we finally arrived in London, we had to wait around 10 minutes before the plane could park close to a gate, but the gate the plane had been designed was occupied by another plane whih's engine wasn't working.

Heathrow Airport, London:
Since the time for waiting had reduced from 5 to less than 4 it wasn't a biggie. And specially not because of all the shops that Heathrow Airport has. I hanged mostly in the book store and bought 2 books, one more of Marian Keyes (her latest, called "The charming man"), another written by Naom Chomski. We drank coffee from Starbucks and it was lovely, lovely, lovely. And...there were loads of eye-candies. Have anybody else, more than me, noticed that English men are so handsome? And their smiles... OMG!

London-Sao Paolo:
Great service by the stuff (and a VERY handsome one too... His name was Ronaldo! awww  ). I've been in this kind of planes before, but I have never had so much choice when it comes to entertainment. I could pick between 11 different movies, 3 TV-series, different sort of music, around 10 different games. :eyes: And even though I usually choose to watch movies on the plane, I did not this time. I prefered to listen to James Blunt's latest CD while finishing "Is anybody out there?" written by Marian Keyes. I laughed and cried with this book, and this is the first time that this combination happened to me. :right:

Sao Paolo:
As soon as we got of the plane we directed to TAM Mercosur to get good places from Sao Paolo (my mother needs to sit in the front of the plane or her tinitus starts and makes the whole trip a lot more difficult) to Asuncion, and from Asuncion to Santa Cruz. I make a line, and my mother makes another (to gain time). My mother arrives to her line first and the women attending us tells her to stand in the last place of my line (after having checked our voucher) and wants me to go away. She didnt exactly say it in a good manner, and I dont believe that she is correct. She thought that she was talking with analphabets apparently and figured that we would obbey that stupid woman. She was wrong, and I remained in my place. Homer: Doh! After having received our boarding passes, we found a "cosy" place to sit in since we woul after all wait 9 hours. It was BORING! There are too few shops in Sao Paolo (the Airport) that you manage to visit all of them in less than 30 minutes. I sat and did nothing special. Tried to start reading the book I had bought in London written by my fave author...but I couldn't concentrate. It was impossible to sleep since the seats were not exactly friendly to the body. While watching people walk back and forth I heard some music coming from the telly above me and it made me remember some good times in my life. (André...it was the song I had tried to explain to you. I recorded a bit and I'll send it soon. ) When we were wainting to board the plane, a (peruvian/paraguayan, drunk) man in his 30s or 40s, tried to flirt with me. :yuck: And he didn't even care than my mother was next to me.

Sao Paolo-Asuncion:
There was a stop in Ciudad del Este, and I couldn't stop thinkng about not visiting Paraguay nor Brazil this year. :frown: I will have to convince somebody to come along... I really want to travel outside Bolivia too. Otherwise, I slept through most of the trip. I wanted to get whisky with coke, something I had received in the last trip, but she denied me it because according to the woman they only give it to people older than 22. :eyes: And usually, people are considered to be adults at 21 already here in South America.

Asuncion:
The airport was filled with people, travellers, fans, football players, media. The football players were taking the same plane as we would, because of the eliminations for the World Championship in South Africa 2010. They are currently, the leaders of South America...and they will meet Bolivia today at 16.00 in La Paz. Bolivia is not very strong, hasn't been the latest decades (if ever)..and of course they are in the last place. :o: I did't know that Paraguay had handsome men either...

Asuncion-Santa Cruz:
The most shitties stuff. They gave everybody else, except us dinner. When we asked if we wanted to have, one in the stuff asked: "oh, you want?" What kind of stupid question is that? Huh? :irked: *headache* Later, another woman in the stuff was going to ask me if I wanted something to drink, and says: "Mrs, would you like some?" How old am I? Sure, I may be old enough to marry some one...but I am definitely not old enough to be called "Mrs"

Santa Cruz:
Three out of four bags did not arrive. We couldn't leave the airport without finding out what we would do...definitely not trust the airplane company, that's for sure. Before, it has happened the same...our bags got lost in the trip, and we were given hotel, food and transport by the company. But they didn't want to. First of all, I wanted to explain what was going on from the beginning to people in check-in, one of the check-in stuff says: "Mrs. Bla bla bla" I exploted. What the heck are you calling me "Mrs" for? Do you know how old I am? She told me: "I don't want to talk to somebody who isn't calm" I had every fekking right to be furious, first of all our bags and then the calling of me. Now, later on I wanted to write about how we were being treated and they told my mother that I didn't have to since I was her child. So apparently, now I was a little kid. :insane: I wrote it anyways, but I was collapsing. They decided to give us a hotel, but no transport (it was around 23.15, and the streets in Bolivia are usually empty at that time... awww Then they took it back, came back to offer it once more, took it back again, told us that we could sleep in the airport, that it wasn't sure that our bags would arrive today, if ever... A really shitty stuff I must say, if not the worst. I got some kind of stress attack. I wanted to puke, could not stand up, my belly started to itch. The stress? It came because we have only 44 days to be in Bolivia, and for every day that gets lots I miss an oppotunity of do whatever I want to.

We got a hotel and transport at around 00.30. I was by then with the airport doctor, getting pills for my stress and the (unknown) skin-allergy that I've developed on my belly. We were at the hotell after 01.30 in the morning and we had not eaten much. We were supposed to be on our way to La Paz but instead we were arriving at a hotel. We went out to buy some hamburgers, ate it and slept. I could not even keep my eyes opened during the taxi-trip to the hotel. I was so tired of everything. My mother got a call in the morning and we got to know that the bags are in Asuncion and that they will arrive in Santa Cruz today in the evening. We have to go out to make some calls, I need (not exaclty need...more want) to buy (my fave) shoes, eat something, decide what we will do now that we have some idea of when they will arrive to Bolivia. A complete day is already lost.

I should go up to our room now. I'll keep you updated on what happens. Don't miss me too much. p:

I am off.

Less than 5 minutes left for departure. It has been very stressy today but we have managed with the most. I have very annoying neighbours with whom I have already had a discussion. Anyways, our first stop is Heathrow Airport, London. We will wait 5 hours there before travelling to Sao Paolo (Brazil), Asuncion (Paraguay) and, our final stop tomorrow, Santa Cruz where we will be arriving at around 1945 Bolivian time. Afterwards we have to take the night bus to Cochabamba and the day bus to La Paz. In other words this trip will take a while before we will arrive at our final destination.

Now I will read some papers, sleep, eat and read my fave-book written by Marian Keyes, "Is anybody out there?". I have laughed so much with this book and I have hardly read 150 pages.

I have felt really bad today. First of all I went to bed at around 4.30 am, woke up at 10, went to a shopping centre close to me to buy some extra stuff for the trip, slept due to me feeling really bad (my tummy hurt), stressed due to Mune leaving my side although he was still w me, started to give my mother's plants to neighbours (and we still have a couple left) and now I am on my way w my companion to the place where he will be the first three weeks. My little boy hasnt been able to sleep much (since he has felt that something big is happening) except when I have slept. This morning I woke up because I felt his little body lying(?) next to my face. I will miss him but I trust the people where he will stay, so that is a good thing.

Now it is only 19 hours left..

As I wrote in my last post, I do love my new style, of being a phonie but I despise the prices. I charged my mobile with 150Sek yesterday, this amount of money lasts usually between one and two months. Since yesterday, I have been online, made a couple of calls, sent some text messages and sent posts to MyOpe
