Body Modification

, , , , , , , , , , , ,

Body modification. I read about it when pandashavingtorture in this community posted a comment with a blog-page about blood and piercings and I started to check out the blog and I kind of freaked out! scared No, seriously! yuck Body modification is such a big topic to discuss. Tattoos are body modification, make up is the same, as getting yourself a haircut or just piercing yourself. Put in a well formed phrase, BME (Body Modification Ezine) is "piercing, tattoos, scarification, subincision, suspension, castration and all other forms of body modification" C'mon! Castration? yikes Subincision? I even had to google this, and do you know what it it? It's a form of "body modification consisting of a urethrotomy, in which the underside of the penis is incised and the urethra slit open lengthwise, want to check it out?" This is insane! Is it really something to be proud of?

Do you find the picture above appealing to you? I don't! I kind of feel sorry for them! I've made body modifications, I admit it! Who hasn't! But..to suffer (oki, they maybe don't suffer..I don't know if they do!?) in this way is kind of strange.

Sure, many people do it for the cause of feeling joy, feeling the joy to be special and unique. But this extreme kind of body modifications really don't help doing something better for the self-confidence that many people probably lack of. Is pain pleasure? bigeyes

Are you bored? Watch this...at own risk! knockout

There are many problems out there and a lot of people (me included) need some mental care. Also dental care, but mental care is a priority.

Dark OneD4rk 4ng3L Friday, December 7, 2007 8:02:13 PM

... M&M... are you considering... maybe...

Allangieallangie Friday, December 7, 2007 8:04:56 PM

Thanks god, i can't view it with my phone yuck Hey, they do suffer, cause in America for example, it is prohibited for official surgeons to make such modifications. Those who does it, don't have an official license. And without license you have no right to give anesthesia to your, ahem, patients...

Lorenzo CelsiLorenzoCelsi Friday, December 7, 2007 8:07:29 PM

"This is insane! Is it really something to be proud of?"
It is the same I think every time I see people with an arm covered by tattos. I guess people have different perception of what is insane and what is not.

@allangie: Have you seen Michael Jackson?

Or these guys who inject a substance inside their muscles so a sphere is made and they seem bigger?

Allangieallangie Friday, December 7, 2007 8:11:33 PM

lol Yes, I have, luckily not in person, why?

Allangieallangie Friday, December 7, 2007 8:12:09 PM

Awww smile

Lorenzo CelsiLorenzoCelsi Friday, December 7, 2007 8:17:14 PM

It depends on what you think is a disturbed mind and what is "cool". Probably Michael Jackson and the above guys do have mirrors but they don't see what I see.

Allangieallangie Friday, December 7, 2007 8:21:29 PM

I agree, Lorenzo, seeing this people there's no need to be a doctor to know about their state of mind

Mizz MartínezMizzMartinez Friday, December 7, 2007 8:31:23 PM

Lorenzo:

I didn't think you needed dental care, after all..you do brush your teeth every day! p And yes, we all have different perceptions on what's insane and not... wink

Lyall: considering, what? bigeyes

Alla: I don't know if they suffer..some of them called pain a pleasure! It depends on how you describe pleasure I suppose! bigeyes

Martin Ouellettemartinouellette Friday, December 7, 2007 8:31:55 PM

All extremes are bad I think, this is one.

Lorenzo CelsiLorenzoCelsi Friday, December 7, 2007 8:34:54 PM

Ok Kerstin but who has got the right to say what is insane and what is not then?

Besides me of course.

IMHO this is a dangerous slope.

Mizz MartínezMizzMartinez Friday, December 7, 2007 8:44:28 PM

Martin: could be true! wink

Lorenzo: Who has the right to say one thing is red and the other is yellow? Everone has it! We have the right of free speech! wink

Lorenzo CelsiLorenzoCelsi Friday, December 7, 2007 8:48:43 PM

If everybody can say every thing than nothing has sense and is worth to be said.

Mizz MartínezMizzMartinez Friday, December 7, 2007 8:51:52 PM

so what? Should some ppl be prohibited to open their mouths? right

Lorenzo CelsiLorenzoCelsi Friday, December 7, 2007 8:56:55 PM

Nope but we should care if things that are being said are TRUE or FALSE.
If you prefer, we can put it in more politically correct way and care what things are more probable than the others.
Otherwise each of us can make a noise or describe the atomic structure of Hydrogen and it is exactly the same.
And this makes the communication empty.

Mizz MartínezMizzMartinez Friday, December 7, 2007 8:59:54 PM

we should care if things that are being said are TRUE or FALSE.

yes Good point! wink headbang

Christopher DaSilvadannii Saturday, December 8, 2007 2:25:25 AM

Yo peeps! Stop judging people (and that goes to Kerstin lol)

Cut in halves penis: yuck

That doesn't mean anyone can condone it, if he/she doesn't harm anyone. Gee! Thank God being gay is not an aberration nowadays!

Mad Scientistqlue Saturday, December 8, 2007 3:23:26 AM

Each to his own. To some people this may just be a line of extreme sport like sky diving or bungee jumping. To other it might be a form of self harming which is often a precursor to suicide. It can also be related to religious choices. I've been circumcised and even with anaesthetic it was painfull. I don't suggest anyone get circumcised without a very good reason. On the other hand, some people have hidden pain and there activities are a way to make the pain visible.

Mizz MartínezMizzMartinez Saturday, December 8, 2007 4:12:19 AM

Dannii:

Stop judging people (and that goes to Kerstin lol )

True...I should, but I really can't. You wrote 6. December 2007, 19:16:10: "Dime con quién andas y te diré como eres" and I think it applies here...it has definitely something to do with their personalities and the people missing something in their lives...I could be completely wrong. o

Qlue:

some people have hidden pain and there activities are a way to make the pain visible.

The most reasonable explanation! smile

Christopher DaSilvadannii Saturday, December 8, 2007 4:49:53 AM

Of course you can't! You're a human being! None of us can't!

But see? You're so f***ing cute!! You even recognize that you should, yet accept your human being heart saying that you can't, a warm heart that beats and is full of love heart

I don't even recognize that I should, I'm stupid enough to think that my adverse judgments or opinions formed beforehand or without knowledge, nor examination of the facts! I think they are still correct sad

Saying "I should but I really can't" will make most of comprehensive people respect you a lot. And will make fools like me admire you like I do heart ;*

Rippripp2002 Saturday, December 8, 2007 4:49:53 AM

Some people just make a choice to do these things so they stand out, so someone pays attention to them. Their effort for extreme individualism just goes further then coloring their hair.

As for the pain portion I would be willing to bet that is correct for a small %.

I have known a couple people who have done some of the above, their reason to me and I did ask in a not nice manner "What the fuck are you or where you thinking?" their response was always "I just wanted to, why be like everyone else?". For a couple I believe that answer, others just wanted to blend in with a group, what better then a group that does not judge.

scared

Mizz MartínezMizzMartinez Saturday, December 8, 2007 6:51:26 AM

Dannii, thanks for your kind words! heart Well, I wouldn't say that you are stupid...after all, you do recognize that you don't want to recognize that you (sometimes...okay, quite often... p ) can be wrong. That means that you are on the path where recognition will soon arrive to you! wink bigsmile

Ripp:

Their effort for extreme individualism just goes further then coloring their hair.

Yep..sad As Martin said before, "all extremes are bad" sad

Rippripp2002 Saturday, December 8, 2007 7:27:26 AM

I can think of a couple extremes that are NOT bad. smile devil

Mizz MartínezMizzMartinez Saturday, December 8, 2007 7:29:16 AM

tell me about them....o

Rippripp2002 Saturday, December 8, 2007 7:30:25 AM

Mizz MartínezMizzMartinez Saturday, December 8, 2007 7:32:30 AM

lol So?

galadriel Saturday, December 8, 2007 7:51:57 AM

No, I don't think I want to check it out p

I couldn't really care what other people do to their bodies. It doesn't make them a freak or anything. Just means they're not a scardey-cat like me smile I used to have my ears pierced- I have no idea how I managed to get them done. they've grown over now but I'd be waaayyyy to scared to get them done again. A friend of mine got the skin between her thumb and index finger pierced OUCH!

Mizz MartínezMizzMartinez Saturday, December 8, 2007 7:54:03 AM

I have a friend who wants to get a piercing on the back of her neck! OUCH and yuck

Lorenzo CelsiLorenzoCelsi Saturday, December 8, 2007 9:24:29 AM

This discussion is an obvious nonsense.

I don't get the difference in having a little piercing or a big piercing, same as a little tattoo or a bigger tattoo.
I don't see any difference in the location of piercings and tattoos.
I don't see any difference in having prothesis implatented to have bigger boobs or the inflated arms of the guys above or the zombie look of Michael Jackson.
Once we say everybody can do everything and everything is automatically "right" just because it can be phisically done, then there isn't anything left to say.

Of course if I was a surgeon I would have to decide if I should do surgery on a "patient" even whithout a medical/functional need.
Should I follow a model of "ideal" human body and human being or should I refuse any "model" and adapt me and my work to the circumstances?

In these days there is an ongoing discussion in my country about discriminations against the "different". The problem is everybody is "different" in a way or another, can be the color of the skin, the place of birth, language, religion, political opinions, sexual preferences, health conditions, age, gender, whatever.
If you make a law that say nobody can be treated differently because any reason, then you are automatically saying everybody can do everything, like marry same sex partners.
Then there are many grey zones, for example I am allowed to have sex with another man or a sheep but I can't have sex with a 16y old girl. Or maybe I can but then are there limits of age?
And so on.

Just realized that I'm not so bored to see that clip Mizz...ohhh I really can't watch it scared

Andredecaspecht Saturday, December 8, 2007 12:58:37 PM

Goddammit!! I almost could feel the pain! These stuffs are really insane. I agree with you Kerstin.. some piercings and tattoes are okay, if they're not too much, but c'mon scarification, subincision, suspension, castration!! These things are not from God (as a friend of mine would say) hehehe

Andredecaspecht Saturday, December 8, 2007 1:16:02 PM

Hey, for those who are not sure of getting a castration or not p Check the following link http://www.geocities.com/sherrylanina/CastrationFactors.html
hehehe

Rippripp2002 Saturday, December 8, 2007 3:52:46 PM

LOL, is castration right for you? I can answer that quickly. NO!!!! Deeeerrrrr doh

devil

Mizz MartínezMizzMartinez Saturday, December 8, 2007 8:11:38 PM

Kripo: It's really good that you can say no to this kind of questions! If someone would tell me: 'If you watch this you'll feel the pain and you shouldn't.' Guess what I do? I watch it! doh

André: I agree completely with you Andrézinho! scared But how about castrating rapists? confused Maybe not! After all, we should not take care of extreme changes on our bodies...we should let the most remain in its place...and accept the way God created us! wink

Ripp: phew...You almost scared me! smile I'm happy for the decision you've taken! wink lol

Andredecaspecht Saturday, December 8, 2007 8:30:27 PM

Well, when these things were made (are made) for cultural reasons, it at least has a meaning, even if I think it's very cruel, but nowadays many people make it just because they think it's cool and it's bullshit for me.

Mizz MartínezMizzMartinez Saturday, December 8, 2007 8:31:42 PM

But isn't a new culture growing then? Wouldn't it be part of a culture then? confused

Andredecaspecht Saturday, December 8, 2007 8:49:03 PM

yes, but making it just to be cool isn't not a good reason for culture, even if makes part of the culture. I don't know if you get what I mean p

Mizz MartínezMizzMartinez Saturday, December 8, 2007 8:53:43 PM

I get what you mean, definitely! smile

Andredecaspecht Saturday, December 8, 2007 8:55:12 PM

it's a stupid culture bigsmile
