Office furniture designs

One of my highly respected consultant engineers I know asked me to help designing well fit furniture for the reception space in his office. I was happy he asked me, and I tried my best. and these were the results made of cherry wood and chrome.

well. the original designs were meant to be lighter and more graceful..
and I was shocked when I came to take a look at them after installing.
I can say that the carpenter wasn't much loyal to my drawings.

Well ... yes, they seem heavy. Perhaps "substantial" might be a better word. They are elegant, even if your original concept did not come through.

Did you have contact with the builder, especially during the construction stage? That would have been the time to tell him where he was going wrong.

The only way to avoid this problem is to learn the cabinet-making skills yourself, and build your own designs.

They have a nice Art Deco quality to them, however far they are from your concept ... perhaps the finish is too dark. Cherry can be enchantingly lovely, left light ... in fact, if one leaves it exposed to light for a sufficient period, it colours itself to some lovely warm light tans with reddish undertones ... usually the problem with cherry is to make it stop getting darker.

@Al, Yes these are the final result.

@der Wandersmann. First I would like to thank you for the compliment.
Unfortunately I didn't contact the bulider during the construction period, because I didn't think he wouldn't stick to my designs as he had agreed with the owner to build as my drawings showed.
I was a bit upset when I saw them after being installed, but I found that the owner was satisfied and happy with them, so I only made a remark about the changes, and how unpleased I was.
But yes, as you said, they looked elegance so I let it go after a while.

As much as I think it would be fun and exciting,I have to say that wood work and carpentry is kind of hard for me to do, not to mention the time that I don't think I would find to learn this, amongst this jam of activities I already have in my life, those made me desire for extre 16 hours a day .. but this's a total different matter.

Maybe, sometime in the future, I will learn this art
