MINEstrels

They're all MINEses!

Theme 4 - Powerpuff

,

Moesring's fourth theme

Yes, Moesring has now finished his fourth My Opera theme (The other three being - in order created - Green, Minstrels and Sleepwalker). As is custom, this shall be Moesring's theme for seven days before he reverts back to his usual Minstrels theme.

What to say about the theme? As you can certainly tell, it is based on that awesomest of cartoons - The Powerpuff Girls.:happy::happy:

If you downloaded the Mackan font or your browser supports web fonts (see the test page) then you will see the theme as intended (see below). If not, your text will be tiny. By some horrible irony, the very font that seemed perfect for the theme has ridiculous proportions. The text is nearly twice the size that it is supposed to be. :faint:

This is how it should look

Moesring would say that he dedicates it to his chosen artistic consultant but that might seem a bit cheesy. Not to mention that Moesring does not quite know how she would react to it. awww

:sst: Those that make comments may be glad to know one thing. Initially, Moesring intended to alternate Blossom's pink colour and Buttercup's green colour for comments, with his own comments in Bubbles' blue (since Bubbles is Moesring's favouritestest of the three ). However, Moesring realised that some people might complain about having their comments in pink so all but Moesring's comments are now green.

CSS fanatics may want to look through some of the files (especially Common.css and BlogProper.css). Partly to provide criticism and partly to perhaps draw inspiration from the usage of new additions to CSS such as font-size-adjust and nth-of-type.

Moesring expects that he will lose some of his regular commenters for the next seven days.

As usual, all comments/criticism are welcome. :D

I like the colours!

When I go to your front page to get a view over the posts, I can see there's comments to this post. If I click the title to see the post, I am not getting to see the comments. If I click the "comments" instead, I get to view both post and comments. It's hard to explain, I hope you understand what I mean. -

Edit: I just tried again, and it seems it's me doing something wrong. Sorry.

I didn't install the font, and after having seen the screenshot, I don't think I will. :D

Moesring 30. December 2008, 07:15

I'm confused. Do you see the comments or not?
I don't see any problems like that on Firefox or Opera - was it just the My Opera server being stupid (as it often is)?

You didn't install the font? That's the best part of the theme (after the fact that it is a Powerpuff theme). awww

Zaphira 30. December 2008, 07:17

I only see my own comment - and now yours. It looked as if there were more when I looked at the front page.

Thinking of how long your posts sometimes are, I think the chosen font is too hard to read, so I'll just stick to what it gives me now.

princessofdeath 30. December 2008, 07:35

Whoops... sorry for posting in the wrong area...

here's the misposted post?

Wow... making this theme must have been hard!

BTW... I was actually surprised when I saw this.. and I had to hold back a laugh...

but i like it nonetheless.

just for the others sake who doesn't know what the hell am I talking about...

Moesring: why you had to hold back a laugh

Well, I wasn't expecting this, I would be surprised if you changed your layout..but a PPG layout?? way beyond my imagination... I had my guard down.

hmm.. in my opinion, I kinda got confused at first. Particularly the View Comments thing. I was about to read the post 'Received' and clicked the link where the amount of comments posted where stated but it took me to another post. Ehehehe..But i got it now, I just had to click the link at the bottom, not the one on top

Moesring 30. December 2008, 07:40

Of course, you could post your comments wherever you chose but I think it is best to keep all related comments in one place so everyone can find them.

You didn't think that Moesring would be a Powerpuff fan? awww

Anyway, I'm glad you like it.

:sst: Where you quoted me above, did you know you could have written it like this?
why you had to hold back a laugh
And it would have appeared as

Now I see why you choose this... hahaha.. you liked the movie of PPG?

Ohhh... I didn't know that worked here on Opera, usually I only use that on Forums.. Thanks for telling me!

Furie 30. December 2008, 07:47

I'll check it out on PC later.

princessofdeath 30. December 2008, 07:54

If I click the Download the mackan font, was it really suppose transfer me to that 'Two Test' post?

Moesring 30. December 2008, 07:54

Now I see why you choose this... hahaha.. you liked the movie of PPG?

Yes, I liked the movie. I also liked a fan-made PPG game and some of the episodes that I have been fortunate enough to watch again now that I'm old enough to overcome the stigma I felt as a child. In short, Moesring is something of a fan of most/all things PPG - and proud of it.

Be sure to check it out on Opera 10, Mik. That way you will get to see the theme in all its awesomeness.

Edit: It was supposed to be like that princess, it takes you to the comment with the link to download it.

I don't like putting the same link up multiple times. I prefer to make one link, and point other links to the location of the first one. :D

I've edited the link in the post though.

princessofdeath 30. December 2008, 07:57

I liked.. no.. LOVED it when I was a kid and still watched PPG, but at this moment, I'm focusing on Japanese made animations.

Speaking of anime, did you know PPG had an anime version? and mojojojo there was huge?!

The title of the anime was Demashita! Powerpuff Girls Z!

Furie 30. December 2008, 08:34

Well that's creepy. :left:.

Not my PC Moe. Can't download new browsers or new fonts. May I suggest good old Comic Sans MS as an alternative, more likely to be installed font. Oh, second section of the sidebar could move up a little (about two thirds of what is currently space) to give a more complete feel..

Just noticed the Opera browser download section of the sidebar overlaps the theme. One last thought. Without the pink comments the pink middle section looks kind of under supported. Sod what people think and whack it back on.

theoddbod 30. December 2008, 08:37

I like the style :D

But I'm also not downloading the font - it's too reminiscent (presumably on purpose) of a 5-year-old kid scribbling his first letters.

Furie 30. December 2008, 08:37

Hey, how come Tils and my avatars are crushed?

MizzMartinez 30. December 2008, 08:49

Wow! It's totally awesome Moe!

Moesring 30. December 2008, 09:25

princessofdeath: Actually, I had heard something about it but I hadn't heard anything substantial. What I read and saw of it in your link didn't appeal to me though. awww

Mik: Adding Comic Sans as an alternative sounds like a good idea. The fonts and pink comments are all I will change now. The rest I shall do when I wake up this evening. (Having been up for 29 hours now, sleep is my top priority at the moment. awww:zzz:)

I don't see the irritating "Download Opera" messages anymore so I forgot all about them. Homer: Doh!
:sst: Even though I use Opera exclusively (aside from testing for Zaphira's benefit), I would still be nagged to download Opera (:irked:) so I eventually wrote User CSS to suppress the banners on all My Opera pages. I always knew that such drastic measures would come back to haunt me one day. :insane:

I don't know why you say the avatars are crushed. From time to time I notice anomalies with avatars on other pages, but nothing that I would describe as "crushed". I presume the crushed avatars is yet another of the new issues that arose from the upgrade.

theoddbod: You are correct. I was after a very infantile font for the theme.

Kerst: Thank you.

Furie 30. December 2008, 09:59

It's back to normal now. Think it was just another Opera thing. ours were crushed up in the top left corner of the box they're usually in.

rose-marie 30. December 2008, 10:39

Oooh, nice
:sst:I have never seen the Powerpuff Girls...

I like your main blog page now. It's looks good having equally sized boxes.

The crushed avatars appear for me too from time to time, but only on your blog awww.

Spaggyj 30. December 2008, 17:47

Looked good to me a few hours ago when I was on the pc. Perhaps your consultations should be with Mik or Mart, someone level-headed and intellectual.

Moesring 30. December 2008, 21:58

For what reason do you presume that you are neither of these? :irked:

Spaggyj 30. December 2008, 23:34

Well, there's better choices for someone with those qualities.

Moesring 31. December 2008, 04:20

Well, that is your opinion. I won't pretend to agree with your opinion, though.

Furie 31. December 2008, 10:59

Four in the morning? :left: To bed with you, old bean.

theoddbod 31. December 2008, 12:45

Tsk...students :rolleyes:p:

*keeps quiet about seeing 3am two days running* :left:

Furie 31. December 2008, 14:18

I'm having a bad influence on you guys. :D

theoddbod 31. December 2008, 17:51

This is more a brief return to old bad habits that I only kicked a few months ago p:

Moesring 1. January 2009, 00:06

I don't think that seeing 3am twice in a row is a "bad habit". The opposite, in fact. P:

theoddbod 1. January 2009, 00:43

It is when your alarm goes off at 7am to go to work (it'd be 0630 if I was disciplined enough).
