Hidden themes?
Sunday, 3. May 2009, 22:44:40
As part of a new project (think a more sophisticated version of the current CSS Generator), Moesring has been going through all the themes. Writing down names, IDs, that sort of thing.
I'm sure you're all familiar with the current themes. Here's a little something you probably aren't familiar with though.
Go to the Design page and click on a Preview link.
You'll be taken to page like http://my.opera.com/Moesring/account/preview-layout.dml?d=101 (for the Blue theme - your username will be different, of course)
The ?d=101 on the end means "Preview theme #101". By changing the last three digits, you can preview any theme you want - as long as you know its ID number.
Moesring needed to compile a list of ID numbers for his project so he thought he would share the IDs of the themes that are available in the Designs page.
- 1 - Default
- 100 - By the lake
- 101 - Blue
- 102 - Silver
- 103 - Opera
- 104 - Movies
- 105 - Pink Hearts
- 106 - Purple
- 107 - Cat
- 108 - Robot Attack #2
- 109 - Robot Attack #1
- 111 - Mist
- 112 - Music #1
- 113 - Music #2
- 114 - Blue #2
- 115 - The Darkside
- 116 - Leaves
- 117 - New Style
- 119 - Opera 10 alpha
- 121 - Early Bird
- 122 - 16 Bit Ninja
- 123 - Garden of Dreams
- 124 - Pirates
- 125 - Halloween
- 126 - Future City
- 127 - Winner
- 128 - Simple
- 129 - Flower explosion
- 131 - L'Amour
- 137 - Qute
- 134 - Blue line
- 157 - In the Shadows
You may notice that there are some missing numbers - 110, 118, 120 and so on. Moesring initially assumed that these numbers simply don't exist. However, Moesring accidentally tried to view theme 110. Sure enough, these missing themes do exist - this is the unavailable theme 110, for example.
Some of the "hidden" themes are not hidden at all - they are the themes for various Opera-run groups. For example, one of the themes is used by The Lounge.
The themes go from 99 to 136 (which, by the way, is one of Moesring's favourite hidden themes
) and from 155 to 157. Of course, there may be more that Moesring hasn't discovered yet. Notice that Moesring has neglected to include the trivial CSS code to start using these hidden themes. Even so, Moesring can't wait to see if any of these themes are unveiled properly. ![]()

#118 is a T-Mobile theme (in English) so I guess they aren't all for other languages.

I think you should "release" these new themes yourself. Set up the import code for each, and provide a screenshot so people know what they're applying.

Of course, there are probably little outstanding issues with the hidden themes - hence the reason they aren't available for the masses.

As far as I can tell, everything was already in place for the themes to be launched. They even produced thumbnail images for the themes.
For example, here's the mini thumbnail for theme 110 - and if you click on it, it takes you to the large preview you would see in the design page.

Or maybe they were designed a while back and MyOpera staff forgot about them? I wish someone from MyOpera would come and clear this up, I love to know why they're hiding there themes from us.

http://www.bmlet.com/bookmarklets/Increment+URL.aspx
Bookmark the link on that page and click it to view the next theme.
Just go to http://my.opera.com/USERNAME/account/preview-layout.dml?d=99 and start clicking the bookmark.

Fell in love with 135. It's a beautiful starting point.
