Day 18

Susan was a cute fluffy rabbit who liked to eat carrots and lettuce, but her favourite food was juicy writhing squirrels. But, although she found squirrels almost irresistably tasty, there was one squirrel that she would never eat. This squirrel was commonly known as Penelopy, but her very close friends called her P.
P liked to eat nuts and berries. She didn't really have a favourite kind of nut or berry. She just liked to eat them.
One day Susan and P decided to go on an adventure. this was not unusual as they often went on adventures, sometimes they would even go as far as the red willow tree!
Before they could leave the apple tree they needed to pack their bags. Susan made lettuce, squirrel and cheese sandwiches. P made marmite and jam sandwiches, one might think her a very strange squirrel for doing this but she claimed the yeast in the marmite enhanced the sugary sweetness of the jam.
When they were finally ready they set off towards the long grass. The tall turquoise blades tickeled P's nose and Susan couldn't see where she was going. P was considering whether or not she should take her nail scissors out and cut some of the grass back to help Susan when they stumbled across a tiny, round, red and black creature. P was a vegetarian and Susan disliked the bitter taste of mature ladybirds, so they decided to keep her as a pet. After discussing the pros and cons of naming their new friend John, they named their new friend John.
John was a shy ladybird who spent most of her time making daisy chains and listening to her current favourite pop band 'Shinny Toy Swords'. John didn't like eating much, but preffered to suck the tender little flies that got caught in spider's webs, before the spiders could come and eat the flies.
John was rather upset about being kept as a pet of Susan and P's. She felt trapped and helpless, and was right to feel so. She screamed and squirmed but, because of her small build, no one could hear her desperate cries.
Suddenly, the three explorers came across a large wellington boot full of water from the rain. Susan, after confirming that someone must have left it there after the welly-throwing competition that had been held yesterday afternoon as a fund-raiser for the local cemetary, and P, who was the first to suggest the reasons for the welly residing in the blue feild, were glad of their luck on stumbling across such a rare, exciting find.
They eventually decided to play 'see if the ladybird can swim'. It was one of their favourite games and they often spent long Autumn days playing 'see if the ladybird can swim'. After their delightful game they were very tired and agreed to go home.
Penelopy decided to herself that it must have been the most exciting adventure they'd had yet. As she started cutting her long, yellow toenails she saw a light shinning through her pistachio green tent. She crawled outside. A flying red saucer crashed loudly by her feet.
An odd looking turtle came out of the saucer and pointed a wrinkly, yellow finger at P. P froze with shock and the turtle zapped her with pink lightning.
When she woke up she saw Susan and John beside her, and a small group of the tall turtles leaning over them with knives and forks.
