We all only have one life. It is up to us to really enjoy it. Imagine becomming very old and wishing you had enjoyed your life more. We hurry through our daily life, always busy, but we never seem to stop and just enjoy living. Please, take the time to enjoy things. Don't let your life tick away. Find the time to stop and smell a flower, watch a sunset, walk in the rain without your umbrella. Find the time to appreciate this great gift of life that we have. Share some happiness with your friends. Circumstances or people can take away your material possessions, they can
take away your money, and they can take away your health. But no one can
ever take away your precious memories... So, don't forget to make time and
take opportunities to make memories everyday. When I am old, I want to look back and remember that I did have a wonderful life.

Why does it take so long for English Majors to wake up to the fact that we have wasted 2 years at University??When we become juniors, we finally realise, wow, I really didn't try all that hard at English. Why do we have to fail TEM Band4 before we realise this? Is it because when we are in Middle School we have many classes and spend hours a day in classroom studying. We have teachers pushing us hard to learn as much as we can. Then, when we get to University, we hardly have any classes. We get lazy. Our normal study habits that we are used to, just dissappear. We take it easy. We don't put as much effort into our study. When we fail the exam, it is only then, that we think to ourselves "Damn!! If only I had tried harder in the last 2 years." Other University students, who are not English Majors, have many more classes a week. They go to class 30 to 40 hours a week and learn English in their spare time. Many of them have a better English level than English Majors. English Majors practice Oral English 2 hours a week in the classroom and that is all. They never practice their Oral English other than those 2 hours. Other non-English Majors, practice their English every day, maybe for at least 1 or 2 hours. That means that they practice 7 times more than English Majors. No wonder their English level is so high. They are dedicated. They want to succeed. But the thing is, they do it in their spare time. How do we get the English Majors, both the Freshmen, and the Sophomores to wake up before it is too late? How do we get them to not waste the first 2 years of English study at University? How do we get them to become dedicated and eager students again???

To be or not to be. That is the question. Why are we on this gigantic planet called Earth. Are we here to please our parents, to fulfill our widest dreams, or just to exist?? Do we really have to get out of bed in the morning or will it make any difference to our lives if we just stay there? How does us just getting out of bed change the world? There are billions of other people in the world all getting out of bed in the morning, why do I have to get up? Will it make that much difference if I don't? The answer is yes!!! It will make a difference. We are all created on this Earth for a reason and everybody in the world has a purpose to further the advancement of mankind. Imagine if Albert Einstein had stayed in bed, Bill Gates, Thomas Edison, or even Michael Jordan. What sort of world would we have today?? Imagine if Alexander Greame Bell was lazy, imagine if Henry Ford, Wilbur and Orville Wright, or Isaac Newton were lazy people. Where would the world be today? Every single person in the world has got a purpose in this life whether it is big or small. We are all here for a reason. It is our duty to get out of bed every morning and live life to its fullest. Contribute something to our society. I see so many other students around me who are lazy and don't see the big picture. Wake up you people!!! The world is not going to hand you a fantastic life on a plate by you sitting around on your backside doing nothing. To succeed in this life you have to stand up and be counted. Stand up and do your absolute best to be the best person you can possibly be!! If everyone in the world was lazy, it would be the end of the human race. For us to succeed and survive the horrible things we have already brought upon ourselves like nuclear armament, world wars, and untold world pollution, we have to wake up, pull together as a race, and do everything that is humanly possible.
So, don't sleep in, don't be lazy, don't skip class. Be a responsible person and give life everything you have got. I think there is an Albert Einstein, Thomas Edison or a Bill Gates in us all. Open your eyes and look in the mirror. It is you if you put your mind to it!! Go on, just try.
