Let's play Monopoly!

, , , ,

It's been quite a long time since I last got excited about an internet site or game... but this one sounds like it could be fun!

Monopoly City Streets

It's going to be a massively-multiplayer online version of Monopoly, with streets taken from Google Maps. You can buy, sell, rent etc. any street in their system and then build stuff, destroy stuff, etc. etc. - all playing against each other.

It's going live later today, and I thought it would be nice if some of my MyOpera friends joined in. I'll certainly be giving it a go...

Oh yeah; and just for P*Nut: "elephant"

My internet has been down for two days - but I shall give it a go! Is it just normal monopoly with real streets. Think I could handle the rules of that! :D

I still had the internet on wednesday - why did this post not show up on my feeds - grrrrrr!

"Oops! This link appears to be broken." it's telling me.

It's working now but I'm struggling with it....

MossMan 11. September 2009, 16:03

I struggled with it for a couple of hours last night - just wanted to claim a few streets before anyone else got them. (I was very surprised how popular it must be - even in Toulouse, on the first day, I saw several people had already staked claims and built large office blocks in the area!)

Anyway, it took all evening since their servers are HOPELESSLY overloaded. They're talking about doing a complete re-boot with new systems some time, so I wouldn't bother trying till after that. Just hope they don't clear everything out, since that will meant all last night's frustration was for nothing...

I'll post another comment on here once more information is given out.

I'm a big fan of Monopoly!

Hi hellownurse! In fact, I stopped playing this after a few days - just haven't had much time at home, and you quickly find that's not much of a game... you just get some money every day that you try and spend buying new streets and buildings. Since I don't fancy trading with people I don't know, that's about it for gameplay!

By the way, been meaning to reply to your mail, but like I said - not much time.

Kimberly 29. November 2009, 20:53

well, considering the SPELLING of the first part of it, and considering i'm a female, what do you think?

MossMan 29. November 2009, 22:28

OK... phew! Was worried we might be corrupting the innocent.

In any case, I said it as an in-joke for P*Nut because it's a topic that came (har har) up by accident in a podcast that I know he listens to.

Kimberly 30. November 2009, 04:13

np. at 47, if i'm still innocent, then there is something wrong, cuz i have had 2 full births, 6 miscarriages, and a tubal pregnancy....

so no, i don't think im innocent.

See here the now infamous Urban Dictionary definition of a word Richard Herring said by accident in AIOTM episode three or four (not sure which), which returned in Urban Dictionary form in episode five and has been a running gag ever since...
