Blog-widget test

, ,

Opera have just revealed a hidden feature of Opera 9 by adding blog widgets to the Opera Community - these show a widget link in the address bar when you're viewing the blog... and if you click that then you get a groovy widget on your desktop (a little program "outside" Opera itself, in case who didn't know).

It's in the style of the blog itself (Serenity/W*Stock's blog-widgets are rather pretty) and contains the text of the last nine blog-posts for you to browse.

This is a test article to see how well these things update. It doesn't look like it will show when there's new comments or photos yet though... sad

Ha ha ha lol

Hmmm... whoever designed the widget needs to do some more work!

After five minutes, it showed that this article had been posted (I see 1 unread item appear on the widget) but then when I tried to open it everything went messed-up...

I couldn't see any blog posts at all when I closed and re-opened it - although it's working again now.

I expect there will be improvements.

Thought I'd have a play (even though I still don't really understand it) but I have to download the opera browser first. Would that cause a problem when I am not using opera as my intenet browser?

Well I'd recommend using Opera anyway, but the widgets are just a way of showing the blogs. I wouldn't bother installing Opera just for that!

I have to go home now, but I'll try to remember to post a picture of what these widgets do tomorrow...
