Before the business is set
That is what One would say Every day When Giving thanks
the Peoples
We will all join together in our minds,
and we will give thanks to the People for their continued peace.
So our minds will continue to be.
Our Mother the Earth
We will all join together in our minds,
and we will give thanks to Our Mother the Earth as we go along continuing to think good things.
So our minds will continue to be.
the Grasses / Plants / Vegetation
We give thanks to all of the vegetation on the earth.
Some are foods we eat.
Some are medicines we use.
We give thanks to all of the Plants that are still helping us.
So our minds will continue to be.
the Waters
We give thanks to the Waters that still was down on us,
and wipe away the nasty things on the earth.
We join together in our minds, and we give thanks for the Waters.
So our minds will continue to be.
the Wild Animals
We give thanks to the Wild Animals that we still see,
and that are still looking after us when we are hungry,
and when we are cold.
We join together in our minds, and we thank the Wild Animals.
So our minds will continue to be.
the Trees / Bushes
We will all join together in our minds,
and we give thanks to the Trees as they still do what the Creator asked them,
and the biggest tree is the Maple,
and we give thanks to them.
So our minds will continue to be.
the Birds
We give thanks to the birds as we still hear them carrying their songs, and the greatest of them is the Eagle.
We give thanks as they guard as we travel along.
So our minds will continue to be.
the Winds
We will all join together in our minds,
and we will give thanks as the blowing winds still do what the Creator is depending upon them to do.
So our minds will continue to be
the Thunders
We give thanks to the Water bringers (Thunderers) as they still go along doing what the Creator is depending upon them to do.
They are looking after us living here on the earth.
So our minds will continue to be.
Our Elder Brother the Daytime Celestial Light
We are giving thanks as we still see the Sun lighting and heating the earth.
He is giving us the strength and we will all join together in our minds,
and we give thanks to him Our Elder Brother the Sun.
So our minds will continue to be.
Our Grandmother the Nighttime Celestial Light
We are giving thanks to Our Grandmother as we still see her,
and she is still looking out for us her children.
So our minds will continue to be.
Chapter 1
The Tao that can be spoken is not the eternal Tao
The name that can be named is not the eternal name
The nameless is the origin of Heaven and Earth
The named is the mother of myriad things
Thus, constantly without desire, one observes its essence
Constantly with desire, one observes its manifestations
These two emerge together but differ in name
The unity is said to be the mystery
Mystery of mysteries, the door to all wonders
Chapter 4
The Tao is empty
When utilized, it is not filled up
So deep! It seems to be the source of all things
It blunts the sharpness
Unravels the knots
Dims the glare
Mixes the dusts
So indistinct! It seems to exist
I do not know whose offspring it is
Its image is the predecessor of God
Chapter 6
The valley spirit, undying
Is called the Mystic Female
The gateway of the Mystic Female
Is called the root of Heaven and Earth
It flows continuously, barely perceptible
When utilized, it is never exhausted
Chapter 7
Heaven and Earth are everlasting
The reason Heaven and Earth can last forever
Is that they do not exist for themselves
Thus they can last forever
Therefore the sages:
Places themselves last but end up in front
Are outside of themselves and yet survive
Is it not all due to their selflessness?
That is how they can achieve their own goals
Chapter 8
The highest goodness resembles water
Water greatly benefits myriad things without contention
It stays in places that people dislike
Therefore it is similar to the Tao
Dwelling at the right place
Heart with great depth
Giving with great kindness
Words with great integrity
Governing with great administration
Handling with great capability
Moving with great timing
Because it does not contend
It is therefore beyond reproach
Chapter 11
Thirty spokes join in one hub
In its emptiness, there is the function of a vehicle
Mix clay to create a container
In its emptiness, there is the function of a container
Cut open doors and windows to create a room
In its emptiness, there is the function of a room
Therefore, that which exists is used to create benefit
That which is empty is used to create functionality
Chapter 12
The five colors make one blind in the eyes
The five sounds make one deaf in the ears
The five flavors make one tasteless in the mouth
Racing and hunting make one wild in the heart
Goods that are difficult to acquire make one cause damage
Therefore the sages care for the stomach and not the eyes
That is why they discard the other and take this
Those paths which stem from nature show us the beauty of moderation, compassion and humility, of caring and respecting all things, stone, stem, shoot, snail..... Conection, oneness.... Tao.

Thank you, Becca, for that wonderful blog entry. :) I have heard it once said that the world does not lack love so much as it does gratitude. There is much wisdom, I think, in that. When one has gratitude, one will recognize that living is a miracle; the songs of birds are miracles; feeling the wind is a miracle.
Be well, Becca. :)
