Drops of Water

Thoughts of Dao

Simple things

Clear, fresh Lu-yi sake
Warms on my little stove.
This evening sky may bring snow.
Come enjoy a cup with me.

- Po Chu-I (772-846)

Long shadows
Woven with light
Dispel all trees but these
Even the bead trees of Japan
Even gardenias
Are not worth admitting
Polished by wind
Buffed by rain
A forest without a flaw
Each leaf
Each branch
A treasure alone of its kind

- Muso Soseki (1275-1351)

peace to you
