Wiimblebum

, , , ...

This post is probably the perfect post. It has a Rabbid in it, a tennis reference, and not just one, but two puns in the title.

Does life get any better? I think the picture's cool, and a nice nod to that infamous poster of the 70s. It's promoting the new Rabbid game, Raving Rabbids TV Party due out on the Wii later this year.

If you want a full res poster version for yourselves, click on the image above. And no, I don't have some weird bunny fetish.

WiiWare

NEW+ My Pokémon Ranch (1000 Points)
Pokémon and Miis come together for the first time in My Pokémon Ranch, available exclusively through WiiWare. Enjoy the relaxing Ranch life by watching over your Ranch and its Pokémon, taking pictures and sending those pictures to your friends. The more Pokémon and Miis that you bring to your Ranch, the more fun it becomes!

At My Pokémon Ranch, you can watch your Pokémon dance, march in a parade and give your Mii a ride around the Ranch. You never know what your favourite Pokémon will do next! When you’re ready to show off your Ranch, invite your Wii Friends to pay it a visit via Wii Connect 24.

Hayley, the creator of Pokémon Ranch, has a dream to one day see the grounds of the Ranch filled with Pokémon. Acting as the caretaker of the Ranch with your chosen Mii, it’s up to you help make Hayley’s dream a reality! You will start with just six Pokémon on the ranch, with a new one added each day to help fill every acre of the grounds.

NEW+ Pop (700 Points)

Pop is all about popping bubbles! It may sound simple but there are lots of things you can do to get a high-score and have fun. Just keep an eye on the timer because when it runs out it's game-over!

Each bubble is worth both points and time so try to fill up your timer first then focus on scoring high. You can then start to chain the same color of bubble for big points by popping bubbles of the same color. This is a great way to increase you score.

Friends can join you in a game of Pop too! Whenever you are playing all they need to do is connect their Wii Remote and then join in the action. Watch out because they may start using power-ups to hold you back! If they do try to pump up some bubbles or detonate a nuke this will create a shock-wave which will destroy any matching colors of bubbles it touches.

Finally there are badges for completing certain objectives; online high-score tables and WiiConnect24 messages so you can keep up with your friends progress and boast about your own.

The updated list of PAL WiiWare titles can be found here.

, , , ...

Who has a Wii? raise your hand, c'mon raise em' up there. Good. Now those of you with your hands up in the air, keep them up if you know your 16 digit Wii friend code by heart, the rest of you put em' down, go on, it's ok.

Now Who still has their hand up in the air like a goof-ball? Your a wizz with numbers aren't ya? For the rest of us, their is an AWESOME trick to remembering your Wii friend code by heart wherever you go! really! Phone Spell is a website that lets you type in your phone number so that it can create fun words out of the numbers on your phone, and it also lets you put in 16 digits, specifically for the purpose of Wii friend codes! HA!

I wont tell you mine because, well because im super stingy with my friend codes ok! JEEZE! and go ahead and try this with unique game friend codes for Wii and DS too! it'll be awesome to see what funky words your friend codes spell out. Now when your buddy tells you her friend code is Awesome Cheese Man - all you have to do is look at your cell phone or home phones number pad while spelling it out to get her friend code! awesome huh!? We put this link in the N+ Links section so that you can always find it here

Bulbasaur Cake

, , , ...

Yep, Khadgar does his CG-design thing, MK has his mural, and I, well I decorate cakes. Ok, maybe I like to do a little digital and traditional art here and there too, but I am nothing near as advanced as the Khad man in the computer stuff! You gotta hear him try and walk n00bs like me through advanced (or medium?) Photoshop lessons! But one cake I am particularily proud of is my Bulbasaur Cake.

I made this for my friend Ryans birthday, he just turned 22 and this is his favorite Pokemon, so how could I refuse? Aside from the Donkey Cake Country I made this is my first real cake like this, the rest I have ever done have been the generic cakes you find in the grocery stores case. DCC was like a practice round.

Visit My Food Gallery to check out more, and larger pictures of the Bulba-cake, and how it almost was accidentally an Ivysaur cake!

Everybody Votes at N+

, , , ...

Last week we asked how many dimensions you liked to game in. A lot of you left comments saying you couldn't decide - it was more of a game by game decision for you. Understandable. For those that did vote, 71% prefer 3D, while only 29% prefer 2D.

This week we want to know about what consoles you own.

What current generation consoles do own?

  • I own a PS3, Xbox 360, and a Wii!
  • I own a Wii and an Xbox 360.
  • I own a Wii and a PS3.
  • I own an Xbox 360 and a PS3.
  • I only own a Wii.
  • I only own a PS3.
  • I only own a 360.
  • I don't own any of the current generation consoles!

As always, votes can be cast in the sidebar on the right, and you must be a member of N+ to vote. Feel free to comment on your choice below!

Could it Really be True? UPDATE: YES IT'S TRUE!

Chrono Trigger

Yesterday when Kotaku showed a blurry screenshot from Weekly Shonen Jump showing Chrono Trigger DS I was HIGHLY skeptical. These past few years have been plagued with thousands and thousands of people wasting their time and their crappy Photoshop skills to make fake screenshots of some form of a Chrono Trigger remake or a sequel. SquareEnix has expressed no interest as of late to revive the Chrono series despite the first game in the series’s status as one of the greatest games of all time. It does, however, look as if they are finally going to do something with the series, a remake of the timeless classic on the Nintendo DS as both the Japanese and North American websites for SquareEnix features Chrono Trigger DS, abeit rather vaguely.

Rumor sites have been ablaze since yesterday about this game with fans needing a dosage of ritalin to keep themselves calm. Why is this? Well, it’s because unlike SquareEnix’s other series this one hasn’t been beat to death with multitudes of inept sequels, just one. Since Chrono Cross’s release on the PlayStation in 1999 (Japan) and 2000 (North America) fans have been clamoring for a good Chrono game. My personal opinion of its sequel is that it was a complete failure of a game although it did have a good story if you were capable of playing through it. Its soundtrack, however, is one of the best from any game; it could be considered as good or better than its predecessor’s. A remake of this game would only be beneficial for them, bringing one of the best games ever made to a new audience; the last time a remake of Chrono Trigger was made was in 1999 (Japan) and 2001 (North America). A couple of the mods here were hardly out of diapers by then.

Once SquareEnix provides screenshots we’ll be back with more information.

UPDATE: It's true! Square Enix just sent out a press release confirming the game, which you can read after the break. CHRISTMAS 2008 BABY!

The nice chaps over at Gamestyle have created a new blog, here on My Opera. If you don't already know about Gamestlye (shame on you), the site came about from a love of videogames. It was created way back in 1999, and has been an important guide for gamers ever since. For more information, check out their Wikipedia page.

Whilst the main site will still be home for fantastic reviews, podcasts, and the impressive Gamestyle forum, the My Opera blog will be used to post the thoughts and comments from the Gamestyle team.

The blog can be found here, and if you want a broader gaming fix, go and check it out!

Quantum Peep

You may have seen the new trailer for Quantum of Solace, the next Bond film, but today Activision released a few screenshots for the game.

Although it's unclear if it's coming out on the Wii (info is very scarce), I couldn't resist an opportunity to make a(nother) Bond related post.

C.O.R.E. Blimey

, , , ...

Want a new FPS for the DS? Featuring a mysterious atmosphere intensified by heavy music and advanced graphic solutions, 14 big "shocking" levels, 20 different enemies ranging from insane marines and mad scientist to big deadly mutants, 8 types of guns, such as: blaster, shotgun, plasma gun or rocket launcher? Then, my friend, you will be interested in C.O.R.E.
As a marine, you are sent with a secret mission into the lab complex built on the meteor crash site. You will travel through different locations - first on the ground, then deeper underground (security rooms, living sectors, offices, labs, stock rooms, headquarters), then even deeper into the meteor rock. Your aim: to discover mysteries about the meteor by solving quests. The final quest comes deep down underneath the earth, where the biggest secret is hidden. Only you can survive this task and protect mankind.

VirtuNAL Console Monday

One WiiWare. One VC. Also some....Addon Content? It seems owners of "FINAL FANTASY® CRYSTAL CHRONICLES®: My Life as a King™" can download some additional addon content in celebration of July 4th.

WiiWare

Magnetica™ Twist (Nintendo®, 1-4 players, Rated E for Everyone-Comic Mischief, 1000 Wii Points):
The classic puzzle game Magnetica is now available on WiiWare , putting its own unique "twist" on the puzzle-game experience. You're surrounded by marbles, marching slowly but surely down a track. Use a launcher (piloted by a Mii™ of your choice) to shoot marbles with matching colors and wipe them out before they reach the end of the track. Control couldn't be simpler, as all you need to do is twist the Wii Remote™ controller to aim and press the A button to shoot. And the game play remains as addictive and deep as you've come to expect in Nintendo's puzzle games, with five varied play modes, advanced mechanics such as the ability to lob marbles, and a never-ending supply of combos. This definitely isn't your typical game of marbles.

Virtual Console

FATAL FURY 2 (NEOGEO®, 1-2 players, Rated Rated T for Teen-Animated Blood, Violence, 900 Wii Points):
Released in 1992 by SNK, FATAL FURY 2 is the second installment in the renowned fighting-game series. In addition to Terry, Andy and Joe, who appeared in the original game, another five distinctive fighters gather from around the world to compete for the championship title. Also newly added are stage-specific hazards and the ability to perform desperation attacks when a character's strength is low. These particularly deadly techniques create the chance for a come-from-behind victory achieved with a single strike. Moreover, the innovative two-line battle, which proved popular in the previous version, also has been radically enhanced. Pressing the weak-attack and strong-attack buttons simultaneously enables players to move their fighters to another line themselves, or to launch an attack that pushes opponents back to another line. This game mechanic, unique to this title in the series, allows the player to take advantage of the depth of the screen and create even more exciting bouts. Can you prove yourself the king of fighters again?

Tingle Returns to N+

, , , ...

Remember when Tingle brought in Spring this year? Well, we never made him a wallpaper because the artwork was basically an edit of the Euro-boxart to his game, and not officially N+ artwork. However, the editing was done so that his rosey rupee land could fit into N+, so we decided to go ahead and give you guys a wallpaper anyway! It's a bit late, but hey sometimes that happens right?

If you would like to check out the wallpaper go on ahead, and don't forget to check out the rest of our N+ themed wallpapers in the N+ Design Gallery!
