Hoho! I'm so happy!

This summer I'm going to a metallica concert AGAIN! I'm one of 20.000 that got tickets in the whole scandinavia (sweden, norway and denmark) Because Bergen, is the only city in scandinavia they'll play in they promised to come back to norway and they sure as hell will;)
I really cant wait O.o It was so amazing the last time, and I'll go with Jørn Ståle this time aswell;D

Other than that I might be going to swedenrock.. and then I'll get to see Poison, Judas priest, Saxon, Gotthard, Testament,Def Leppard(again) and Whitesnake(again) among others:D and I'm going to a kiss concert too this is a really cool year and so much is happening O.o
Wish I could go to an Iron Maiden concert aswell just to see them I'm not that huge a fan

Who owns the English language?

English is a Germanic languae which has its origin in England.
People from northwest Germany invaded England around the fifth century.
Germanic dialects coalesced and formed
a variation of english which is known as Old English.
Old English is not the variety of English that we use today.
In fact most native speakers of English would understand few
words of the Old English language. It has been claimed that English still
contains some of the old Celtic languages such as Gaelic. Later it has been
influenced by Vikings, and the Norse language they spoke.
And over a period of about 1500 years it has developed into the English we
use today called modern English.

English is also the first language for lots of people, for example most people
in Australia, Ireland, The United Kingdom, The United States, Canada and Caribbean.
There is a widespread use of the English language as an official language and as a second
language all over the world. English is often referred to as a "lingua franca" which means
international or global language, because it is so widely spoken. It is the main
language of advertising, TV, computing, the internet, politics, aviation, entertainment,
sports and technology. Children almost all over the world learn English at school.
They start already in first grade with a few simple words such as "flower" etc.
In the United States the number of native speakers of English is 214,809,000, in the United Kingdom it is 58,200,000.

The reason for why English has been spread all over the world and is the main language
goes back in time. Several centuries ago English fleets started to explore foreign
waters and travel around the world to discover new land. They found land which was
alread inhabited by natives, but claimed that they were the discoverers of the new countries.
They forced the natives to give up their land and made them learn English. Then they established
new homes and made colonies all over the world.

Examples of this is when the Brits first came to American and they claimed the land as their
land and established 13 states near the coast so it could be used as a trade
station. And when the Brits struggled with overcrowded and stinking prisons
due to extremely strict rules, they discovered Australia and reported to the British king that
it was uninhabited. This seemed the perfect solution to their problem, they established a small
society in Australia. People also immigrated voluntarily to Australia because
they were told there was soil which was well fit for farming.

This way the English language spread all over the world to where Britain had colonies.
Over time the British English was changed, and now we have different varieties of
English. In America they speak American English, which has differences in some words,
an example that I like, is shopping cart which is the American word, and trolley which
is the British word for it. Mostly the words are the same, but there can be major differences.
We also have Australian English where they like to abbreviate words so instead
of calling themselves Australians they prefer "Aussies." New Zealand English,
African English and Norwegian English are other examples. So which variety you speak depends on
where in the world you come from. International english is also a variety of English that we have.
It is a simplified version of English, with a smaller vocabulary
and standard pronunciation which is spoken by non native speakers of the language.
It is spoken much slower than most native speakers are used to.

English is a language with a huge and ever-changing vocabulary. It has words from several different
languages such as German, Latin, French, "Native English", Danish and Dutch.
The German words, which generally are words that come from Old English are standard
words such as pronouns and conjunctions, they tend to be shorter than words taken from
Latin. They are also used more in English every day speech than the Latinate words which
are considered to be more intellectual and elegant.

Americans also have a wide influence on people. American products, TV and film industry are
very popular all around the world, their way of living as a consumer society
has affected us all. We all want to buy more and we have become materialistic. Through all
the American products their language is spread throughout the world.

With all these English speaking people it is hard to say who the language belongs to, there are
way too many who speaks it for someone to claim the language as their own.
This question was much easier before, then it belonged to the Englishmen of course, but now we
have hundreds of varieties and different English accents, who can say they own
all of that? And which way is the correct way to write and speak English?
Personally I think a language should be free for everyone to speak. As I see it,
it is just a mean of communication and to be able to understand each other we need
to communicate and have a common language. English is a simple and great language, and the more people
who learn it the better we will be able to communicate and cooperate in
the future as one truly united nation.
