The Opera Effect
Saturday, August 22, 2009 8:13:07 AM
Its a boundless highway; ever expanding longitudinally and latitudinally, its growth exponential and its presence pervasive. It is home to omnipotent tools of communication, broadcasting and information.
All these fancy words to describe what?
The Internet.
(or like i wish to call it: The Virtual Planet).
The power to buy anything from anywhere, to learn who Gandhi was, to be able to see, hear and chat with someone literally across the world, to feed a homeless child (www.bhookh.com< do it) just in the matter of a couple of clicks are all testaments to the adorned image of the Internet i just gave. Today, the internet has become somewhat of a mundane household utility to the civilized world. But I cannot stop to see how wondrous Tim Burners-Lee 's creation is. If you have ever seen a child or a old-timer, especially ones from not-so-developed countries use the internet for the first time then you will know that my stupefaction is not exclusive to me. The internet is really astonishing if you stop to think about it!

So the question arises, how does one navigate this ridiculously vast network efficiently and harness its infinite capabilities?

Opera.
We Opera fanatic freaks know that the web browser usage statistics is not a correct indicator of web browser standards because we knowthat the true leader in browser innovation is unequivocally and indisputably Opera. In line Search, Search bar, Tabbed Browsing (to name a few) are some of the most perceivable advancements brought about by this unsungcompany family. And now, with Turbo browsing and more importantly Unitethey are again galloping ahead of the competition.
This is an indubitable fact that any and every Mozilla fanboy or Chrome addict must come to terms with.
I'm not even going to mention Opera's monopoly in the mobile sector as it is common knowledge
.
In the end I guess what makes a great product great is its ability to appeal to a varied customer group. Opera has something to offer to almost anyone; from the most casual web browser who wants quick pageloads and an intuitive UI to the most demanding net addict who wants to access his PC through the net. I infact have the absolute joy of accessing my files, music and photos stored in my PC in India from my dorm in the USA!
Now, with great power comes great reponsibility (lol...plagiarism much?). And the internet is definitely used for ulterior purposes: For eg., inventions such as file sharing are massively misused. A certain bit of downloading is fine, but as they say, too much is too bad. But the most alarming thing is the usage of internet by cults and terrorist organizations. We wouldn't want opera 10 in such hands now would we!
In the end, the good will overshadow and outshine the bad; and it is going to be so in the virtual planet too
. The Infonet (internet) and browsers will only get better.
Coz amelioration is a constant thing.
Its the Opera Effect.
And I hope im in on this effect!
Though Opera is so amazing, it isn't perfect (yet) and I hope to see much more from this brilliant bunch of people and their lovely community! Its again, The Opera Effect

You're right though - I've just switched to this blackberry from a centro and it can run operamini. More than the bells and whistles I like because it works better at more remote locales. I'Wed, Sep 2, 2009 use a monochrome screen for speed if I new code.
And I don't really care what your motvation is I like talking to a diverse and far ranging group.
I don't know if you're capable of sorting through all these replys though.
