Nothing Like A Picnic To Calm Some Nerves
Thursday, September 17, 2009 6:27:15 PM
I don't know if you recall or not, but about three or four months ago (I think) I mentioned that Lonnie, Sunny, & I all went on a picnic & I took pictures. I never ended up posting the pictures for some reason, and since today started out all rainy & gloomy, I need something to remind me of the good times in the sun!

Like I said, this was a few months ago. At the time we had NO idea we'd be moving in a few months. Things were going fairly well (we thought) at the time...and we all really enjoyed our time together. Jameson would've been with us, but since he's almost 18 now, he has "better" things to do. Like hang out with his sleezeball friends at the ginormous mall.
That's okay, though. I'd rather have him at the mall than with us & bitching about wanting to go the entire time. You know how kids can get.
Anyway, let's take a look through the pictures, okay?!

Lonnie purchased a really nice picnic basket for me a while back. Almost two years ago. We'd never broken it in, so we figured it was about time to do so! It's a fairly big basket, and can get pretty heavy when fully loaded. That didn't bother Sunny, though. She insisted that she be the one to carry it. Who was I to argue?

Lonnie carried the cooler which had some carbonated beverages in it (Root Beer) and also some frozen treats.

We finally found a really nice spot to lay our quilt down on & get to picnicking! It really was a perfect location...beautiful scenery. Anyway, we busted open the picnic basket...

Then everyone dug in and grabbed their sammiches out of the basket, got their plates & whatnot, and proceeded to grub!

Luckily, I'm a pretty prepared person, so I put a Cold Pack thing in the bottom of the picnic basket so that our sammiches wouldn't get all icky. It worked out really well! The lettuce was nice & crisp and everything tasted nummy!

Here's a shot of the grubbin' in action...

Sunny finished her meal first (of course...she knew we had dessert.
), so she busted out her Klondike Bar and went to town on that mother!

Meanwhile, poor Lonnie was still working on his sammich. He is literally the slowest eater I have EVER met in my entire life, so that's no big surprise. I thought I was slow, but damn...he makes me feel like I suck food down!

Well, Sunny had enough of this waiting around for Dad to finish eating, so she asked me to walk her over to the little playground thingy...

We had a lot of fun playing on it. Yes - WE. I play on those things all the flippin' time. I LOVE jungle gyms!
Swings, too! Speaking of swings...Sunny asked me to push her on the tire swing.
I tend to use a bit too much strength sometimes without knowing it...this was one of those times! Hahaha...she nearly went flying out of the bottom of the tire swing!

Sunny & I got tired of playing at the playground, so we decided to head back to the picnic spot. We weren't surprised at all to find Lonnie STILL working on that damned sammich!

We waited & waited...and then he finally finished. But then he had to eat his dessert!
I think the expression on Sunny's face & the way she's laying there says it all:
Lonnie finally finished grubbing, so we all took a little stroll through the park on our way out. It's such a beautiful park...it's like walking through a post card in some areas.

So there you have it! That was probably the most enjoyable picnic I've ever been on. I was SO stoked to finally get the chance to use the lovely picnic basket that Lonnie had so lovingly bought for me.
All three of us agreed that it was a truly wonderful time, and we plan to have several more picnics in the future...weather permitting.

You need any "picnic ants", let me know. We grow them down here.
We also export the most excellent "skeeters" too!

Yogi Bear hangs out in Jellystone Park. Not Vancouver, Washington!
Me too, P2!
But, uh...you can keep the crawlin' critters to your bad self! I'm fine with an occasional fly or bee!

Sadly, my family knows that if I saw a snake, I'd be five miles away by the time they noticed it.

I sympathize with Lonnie because I am always the last one to finish a meal----always. I eat super slowly. I want my digestive processes to start before the stuff hits my stomach.
That does look like a very pretty park.
And if P2 can't supply the ants and skeeters, I have biguns over here across the lake from him in Texas. And the snakes. I'll swear that Houston has mosquitoes big as horses!

I used to always be the last one to finish a meal...then I met Lonnie.
All the parks around here are pretty.
Keep your critters to yourself! GOSH!

That's how tall I am. My poor daughter is 4'9" and she is 27.
Rick is 6'1 , his SISTER is 6'2 his Dad was 6' 5. His sisters three boys are 6'6 and 6'4 (twins) and her husband is about 6'3.... so I have spent 24 years with a crick in my neck looking up at his family. ROFLOL

I've had Cheddar Cheese/Marshmallow Cream sammiches & freakin' loved 'em! I think I will like it...just been having stomach issues lately, so I'm scared to try anything too out of the ordinary 'til it settles down.
