Nothing Like A Picnic To Calm Some Nerves

, , ,

I don't know if you recall or not, but about three or four months ago (I think) I mentioned that Lonnie, Sunny, & I all went on a picnic & I took pictures. I never ended up posting the pictures for some reason, and since today started out all rainy & gloomy, I need something to remind me of the good times in the sun! o

Like I said, this was a few months ago. At the time we had NO idea we'd be moving in a few months. Things were going fairly well (we thought) at the time...and we all really enjoyed our time together. Jameson would've been with us, but since he's almost 18 now, he has "better" things to do. Like hang out with his sleezeball friends at the ginormous mall. rolleyes That's okay, though. I'd rather have him at the mall than with us & bitching about wanting to go the entire time. You know how kids can get. irked

Anyway, let's take a look through the pictures, okay?! smile

Lonnie purchased a really nice picnic basket for me a while back. Almost two years ago. We'd never broken it in, so we figured it was about time to do so! It's a fairly big basket, and can get pretty heavy when fully loaded. That didn't bother Sunny, though. She insisted that she be the one to carry it. Who was I to argue? p

Lonnie carried the cooler which had some carbonated beverages in it (Root Beer) and also some frozen treats. bigsmile

We finally found a really nice spot to lay our quilt down on & get to picnicking! It really was a perfect location...beautiful scenery. Anyway, we busted open the picnic basket...

Then everyone dug in and grabbed their sammiches out of the basket, got their plates & whatnot, and proceeded to grub! chef

Luckily, I'm a pretty prepared person, so I put a Cold Pack thing in the bottom of the picnic basket so that our sammiches wouldn't get all icky. It worked out really well! The lettuce was nice & crisp and everything tasted nummy!

Here's a shot of the grubbin' in action...

Sunny finished her meal first (of course...she knew we had dessert. lol ), so she busted out her Klondike Bar and went to town on that mother! lol

Meanwhile, poor Lonnie was still working on his sammich. He is literally the slowest eater I have EVER met in my entire life, so that's no big surprise. I thought I was slow, but damn...he makes me feel like I suck food down! bigeyes

Well, Sunny had enough of this waiting around for Dad to finish eating, so she asked me to walk her over to the little playground thingy...

We had a lot of fun playing on it. Yes - WE. I play on those things all the flippin' time. I LOVE jungle gyms! lol pssst Swings, too! Speaking of swings...Sunny asked me to push her on the tire swing. lol I tend to use a bit too much strength sometimes without knowing it...this was one of those times! Hahaha...she nearly went flying out of the bottom of the tire swing! lol

Sunny & I got tired of playing at the playground, so we decided to head back to the picnic spot. We weren't surprised at all to find Lonnie STILL working on that damned sammich! lol

We waited & waited...and then he finally finished. But then he had to eat his dessert! lol I think the expression on Sunny's face & the way she's laying there says it all:

Lonnie finally finished grubbing, so we all took a little stroll through the park on our way out. It's such a beautiful park...it's like walking through a post card in some areas. o

So there you have it! That was probably the most enjoyable picnic I've ever been on. I was SO stoked to finally get the chance to use the lovely picnic basket that Lonnie had so lovingly bought for me. love All three of us agreed that it was a truly wonderful time, and we plan to have several more picnics in the future...weather permitting. rolleyes

I was on a swing for the first time in a few year this summer it felt nice

Phantom2 Thursday, September 17, 2009 11:07:47 PM

I love late afternoon picnics. smile

You need any "picnic ants", let me know. We grow them down here.
We also export the most excellent "skeeters" too!

KarenNerak Thursday, September 17, 2009 11:22:44 PM

Yay, Lenora! I have inspired you! yes And yes, Rick...take Baby to the park! heart

Yogi Bear hangs out in Jellystone Park. Not Vancouver, Washington! lol

Me too, P2! o
But, uh...you can keep the crawlin' critters to your bad self! I'm fine with an occasional fly or bee! lol

Phantom2 Thursday, September 17, 2009 11:34:30 PM

Well, for picnics you should know the ol' southern trick of how to get the last deviled egg, cup cake, etc.....holler "SNAKE!" up
Works every time! lol

KarenNerak Thursday, September 17, 2009 11:36:27 PM

lol

Sadly, my family knows that if I saw a snake, I'd be five miles away by the time they noticed it. lol That plan would back-fire. How's 'bout I just bitch-slap 'em if they touch my flippin' cupcake?! irked

Phantom2 Thursday, September 17, 2009 11:39:13 PM

That's a plan. lol
Just keep your elbow outa the potato salad! cool

KarenNerak Thursday, September 17, 2009 11:40:46 PM

OMG Sunny is getting tall! up It's so weird that you are posting this today..Rachael and I went to the park earlier and took some really cool pics. I wanted to share them but not tonight...I feel too lazy, lol

Glad you all had a great time. smile

KarenNerak Friday, September 18, 2009 1:55:41 AM

Sunny really is getting tall. She's about 5'2" now. bigeyes She's only 11. left Those pictures were taken a couple months ago, too...she's grown since then! yikes

I can't wait to see your pics, Cupcake! yesheart

Thank you, Carol! heart

Dacotah Friday, September 18, 2009 1:57:16 AM

You are welcome Karen. heart

L2D2 Friday, September 18, 2009 3:01:58 AM

Sunny is a Karen clone is what she is. She looks just like you and gets her height from you. Going to be beauty.

I sympathize with Lonnie because I am always the last one to finish a meal----always. I eat super slowly. I want my digestive processes to start before the stuff hits my stomach.

That does look like a very pretty park.

And if P2 can't supply the ants and skeeters, I have biguns over here across the lake from him in Texas. And the snakes. I'll swear that Houston has mosquitoes big as horses!

KarenNerak Friday, September 18, 2009 4:16:05 AM

Awww...thanks, Linda! I wish I looked as good as Sunny does, but I appreciate the heck outta that! o

I used to always be the last one to finish a meal...then I met Lonnie. lol Sometimes it LITERALLY takes him TWO hours to finish a plate of food. bigeyes I swear to God that's no exaggeration!

All the parks around here are pretty. o The rain pays off in some ways, I suppose.

Keep your critters to yourself! GOSH! down

I am so happy to hear 5'2" called "tall" under any condition! LOL
That's how tall I am. My poor daughter is 4'9" and she is 27.
Rick is 6'1 , his SISTER is 6'2 his Dad was 6' 5. His sisters three boys are 6'6 and 6'4 (twins) and her husband is about 6'3.... so I have spent 24 years with a crick in my neck looking up at his family. ROFLOL

L2D2 Friday, September 18, 2009 4:58:50 AM

lol You truly did marry into a family of Tall Texans. I am 5'3 1/2" so I know all about that. Seems I have spent my life looking up at people and crawling up on stools to get dishes out of the cabinet!

My Dad's side is/was tall. My Dad's 6'4", but my brother's only 6'. lol I'm 5'9", but I blame my Mom for that because she's only 5'6". devil Gotta blame someone! p

Thank you, Cupcake! heart

doh NO, they didn't have pickles. I generally hate pickles on my sammiches. The only reason I'm even going to try the cheese/pickle sammich is for you, Tab. heart

Thank you, Olga! heart I guess Sunny does kinda look like me, huh? bigsmile Maybe it's the eyes.

Thanks though..I appreciate the thought!

KarenNerak Monday, September 21, 2009 12:04:59 AM

I am GOING to try it! I have the cheese, pickles, & bread. I told you I was going to buy the makings...and I did. I'm just mustering up the courage to try it. lol One way or another, the cheese & pickle sammich will be eaten! yes

TabTabmartel Monday, September 21, 2009 12:22:01 AM

Ooook....Now that ya got me thinkin pickles and cheese I'm hungry...

Maybe if ya drown the sammich in Nutella you won't taste all that pickley goodness..lol

KarenNerak Monday, September 21, 2009 1:54:37 AM

lol GROSS!

I've had Cheddar Cheese/Marshmallow Cream sammiches & freakin' loved 'em! I think I will like it...just been having stomach issues lately, so I'm scared to try anything too out of the ordinary 'til it settles down. wink I will do it, though. Mark my words! yes

scott cummingI_ArtMan Monday, September 21, 2009 4:41:19 AM

KarenNerak Monday, September 21, 2009 4:44:41 AM

I average 2-3 of them per day. I'm afraid to eat more of them due to the Potassium content. worried

KarenNerak Monday, September 21, 2009 4:45:04 AM

Thank you for the tip, BTW. bigsmile
