Walking With Lonnie & Karen

, ,

Lonnie and I went for a walk the other day. It happened to be sunny on that day…hooray! We picked the perfect day for a walk, because ever since that day, it's been gloomy and raining nearly constantly.

As always, I brought my camera with me on the walk. You never know when you'll see something picture worthy…although pretty much everything is picture worthy in my opinion. bigsmile So, anyway…let's look through the pictures, shall we? …

Before we even left our complex, I found things to take pictures of. For example, in the picture you're about to look at, you'll see a little valley type of thing. It's actually a pretty cool place. The people who built the apartments & the grounds, created this rocky valley type thing in order for the massive amounts of rain we get to have a place to collect that's away from the buildings. When it rains really hard, it fills up and that's when the frogs come out to play! Here's the area I'm talking about...

On our way through the grounds of our complex, I took a picture of one of my favorite trees in the area. It's a Weeping Willow:

We were almost out of the complex and on our way to start speed-walking when I happened to see a guy wearing a really gay looking hat. lol There's no way in hell I could resist taking his picture…

If you look closely, you'll see an old lady looking right at me. Right after I snapped the picture, she announced to the guy, "You just got your picture taken!" and the guy spun around and looked right at me. I looked back at him like, "What? I'm far too innocent to do something like that!" o

We finally made it out of the complex and headed down a nearby street. It's a pretty new street with brand spankin' new condos on it. We continued to walk down the street until we saw an Open House sign.

Since both of us are very curious people (nosy), we stopped to see if the door was unlocked. It wasn't…of course. down

Anyway, while we were walking around the condo, we both noticed a horrific wiring job! We stood there absolutely stunned that someone would have done something so amateurish. Here's a picture of what I mean…look at how the cable is so blatantly obvious because of how the jackasses ran the stupid thing!...

Well, after standing there in awe over the shoddy workmanship, I decided to go look in the windows of the condo to see what it was like in there. Needless to say, I wasn't very impressed at all. The picture sucks since it was taken while looking through a window, but here's a shot of the kitchen…
See? Nothing too special at all, huh? And they want around $300,000 for those condos, too! bigeyes They're clearly asking way too much for them…especially with the economy the way it is right now. Anyway, Lonnie and I kept walking until we got to the end of the street. We've always had a knack for picking dead-end streets. rolleyes There wasn't a Dead End sign anywhere or anything!
At the very end of the long street is a guard rail thing. Upon closer inspection, I noticed a bench in the most odd place. At least, I think it's an odd place…
Lonnie just couldn't resist putting his cute little tushie on that stupid bench! lol He just had to sit on it…
Next, we stumbled upon a gazebo! left It's so weird to me to have a gazebo in the middle of nowhere. I mean, what's the point? right It's surrounded by a big field. *shrug* Meh, whatever…I made Lonnie go in the stupid thing so I could get a picture…
After we were done in the gazebo, we decided to keep walking. Instead of going back up the street we'd just walked down, we chose to go through the field behind the condos…but first, we needed to take a picture of ourselves! bigsmile
After we finished with that, we continued to walk through the tall weeds. Thank goodness I was wearing jeans and not shorts or a skirt! I cannot stand the feeling of weeds and tall grass rubbing against my legs. down
I'm not exactly sure why I did it, but I took a picture of said weeds…
Lonnie and I continued to walk through the field…and then I spotted some color out of the corner of my eye. I turned my head to look at what it was and saw that there were berries growing in the field…
Both of us happened to notice a dark spot on the ground in front of us, so we walked over to it to see what the heck it was. It turned out to be oil or something like that. Someone must've dumped their used oil in the field! How freakin' rude…
We finally made our way out of the field. We ended up by a power station thing. I took pictures of it, but they're all lame. Besides, once you've seen one power station, you've seen them all. Use your imagination! p After a while longer of walking, my knee was really starting to bother me, so we decided to head back home. We spotted a tree on the way home that had some white sappy crap on it. Of course, being the massive pervs that Lonnie & I are, we both stood there and cracked jokes about what the sap really looked like for a while…
See what I mean? lol How could we not crack jokes about that?! It clearly looks like the tree got a little bit too excited to see us! After laughing our asses off for a few minutes, we headed back to our building. The only reason I'm even posting the next picture is just so I can show you the badass tree in the front of the building. I'm not sure why, but I LOVE that tree. They way they trim it and everything just makes it look so cute to me! bigsmile
That pretty much sums it up. I realize that this wasn't the most thrilling blog entry ever, but what the hell. I didn't want these pictures to just sit on my harddrive and never be seen again. wink

O RLY?!Espen Wishes You A Merry Disco Christmas!

Love the walk with you and Lonnie. The dude with the hat--- lol what was that? The weeping willow is just gorgeous. We have a number of those down here, too. Enjoyed all the pictures. That condo kitchen was small but nice. Those were granite cabinet tops and that's several thousand dollars right there.

Dacotah Saturday, November 7, 2009 6:27:50 AM

Hi Karen, thanks for the tour of your walk. smile

KYrenKYren Saturday, November 7, 2009 6:43:43 AM

The tree sure got too excited. bigsmile
I love the place where you live. I want to rest in the cool shadow of that weeping willow. Why do they call it weeping willow?

Shaunak DeShaunak Saturday, November 7, 2009 7:42:06 AM

Yeah, even I wonder, why Do they call it a 'weeping willow'? It looks pretty cheerful to me.

KarenNerak Saturday, November 7, 2009 9:00:50 AM

P2 - Sidewalks are pretty handy dandy! pssst Especially now that I live in a place where I don't have to shovel snow off of them. yes

Linda - I'm glad you enjoyed the walk. bigsmile I love the counter tops in the kitchen of the condo. I've always wanted granite. I just don't think those places are worth anywhere near $300,000! They're pretty flippin' small...and really crowded.

Carol - It was my pleasure! bigsmile

I assume that it's called a Weeping Willow because of the way it hangs. I guess it's all a matter of perspective, though. They see it as weeping - we all see it as cheerful! bigsmile

glad to know i'm not the only one with snap happy syndrome! lol my camera also goes everywhere with me.. And isnt it sposed to be Autumn on your side of the world? Why is everything so green still? Evergreen everything? bigsmile

TabTabmartel Saturday, November 7, 2009 3:59:21 PM

I think the weeping willow would be my favorite tree as well. When Amanda was in a body cast I used to take her outside in the front yard and sit under the weeping willow in the shade with her. I would read to her there, sing to her, and just let her know how special she was to me.

Seems like the two of you had a lovely walk..I sure wish the sun would shine here! Looks and feels like snow is coming.

It's a horticulture thing. Any tree or large shrub with pendant branches like that, as opposed to it's regular form of upright branches, is considered to be "weeping". There are weeping yaupon hollies, weeping figs, etc.

I agree about the price on the condo. $300,000 in Tyler will get you a 4 br., 4 bath, 3car garage home

Shallow Muse - Please forgive me - I forget your name. sad Anyway, it stays green 365 here. It freaked me right the Hell out the first year I moved here from Montana. I kept waiting and waiting for the shit to die, but nope. It stayed green. bigeyes We lose leaves, but that's it. Freaky, huh? They mow the lawns in December! yikes

Tab - The sun is long gone now. sad I've been keeping a rain log, and it's rained 13 days out of 20. down And this is good for this time of year. Normally, it'd be 20/20. down

Ana - I'm so happy you enjoyed it! happy Drop by any time. bigsmile

Mickey - :lol:Hahahaha...you are always crackin' me up! lol

Kim - Thanks! We've kinda been at each other's throats lately, so the walk tends to help. If he gives me too much lip, I can just shove him in front of an oncoming bus or something. p wink

Cupcake - I'm so glad you enjoyed the walk! One day you and I will go on a walk together and take our own pics! yes No reason to be jealous of the tan - it's fake! lol Love you. heart

Tamil, do you happen to know what's going on with avatars? When I try to upload one, nothing happens. Do you know if they're working on it? smile

Sarah angel292005 Saturday, November 14, 2009 10:59:46 AM

I see your avatar...I also did the same thing, on accident. But I kept it...the avatar that is.

Hmmm... Cabin fever? or possibly, new digital camera?

Anyway, I'm glad you like your new place (well... anyone for a road trip to Linda's house?).

The guy with the hat... would that be Hopalong Ben Gay? (sorry. couldn't find the recording. They used to play it on the Dr. Demento show)

Hope your holidays are happy. I'll talk more soon...

KarenNerak Friday, December 4, 2009 5:48:12 PM

I'm up for a road trip, Robert! Come pick me up. bigsmile

The Ballad of Ben Gay...lol
