Wow! pretty cool! cool

Kevin Johnsonkmj1ak Saturday, October 8, 2011 4:13:47 AM

I agree. So cool!! Never knew that neodymium magnets can do that. yikes bigsmile up

KarenNerak Saturday, October 8, 2011 4:28:25 AM

I had no idea, either. Seems like half the people totally knew and the other half were clueless like me! lol

Mad Scientistqlue Saturday, October 8, 2011 3:03:17 PM

sherlock.

Robert Hurleyrfhurley Saturday, October 8, 2011 4:38:39 PM

Hard drive memory IS magnetic. What I'M curious about, is how did the magnet "capture" the data in the first place...

Mad Scientistqlue Saturday, October 8, 2011 4:57:44 PM

do you happen to notice how both the camera used to record this and the calculator both seem to be mounted in one fixed position? whistle.
Cool bit of video SFX but it's not real. rolleyes.

KarenNerak Saturday, October 8, 2011 7:09:06 PM

The guy who posted the video says "This video is for fun. Just practicing my editing skills" in his description. whistle

Had us going, eh? bigsmile

Spaggyj Saturday, October 8, 2011 7:30:48 PM

Balls sad

H82typ Saturday, October 8, 2011 7:52:00 PM

@ Kimmie: sqeeze 'em? confused

@ Karen: @ youtube, search for "unlock your car with your cellphone"

All I keep getting are rtsp links. furious

KarenNerak Saturday, October 8, 2011 8:05:00 PM

I'm pissed off at how freakin' gullible I am, to be honest. irked

Sorry I dragged everyone else into my fairy tale. Damn the luck.

Mad Scientistqlue Saturday, October 8, 2011 8:06:37 PM

make a flying saucer from two cd's a coke tin, three torch batteries and some cellotape

KarenNerak Saturday, October 8, 2011 8:08:25 PM

...Speaking of balls, I'm tempted to track this guy down and remove his with my trusty X-Acto knife just because he pranked my ass so well.

Damn it. I HATE how gullible I am. lol

True story: I was in 5th grade and my brother, John, says to me, "Hey Karen, you know what's really weird? Me: "What?" John: "The word 'gullible' isn't actually in the dictionary." Me: "REALLY?!" Him: "Jackass" - or some other derogatory word. rolleyes

H82typ Saturday, October 8, 2011 8:32:56 PM

What puzzles me is how do you get your roots so dark? p

KarenNerak Saturday, October 8, 2011 8:36:54 PM

lol Dye. Copious amounts of dye!

Spaggyj Saturday, October 8, 2011 9:14:07 PM

I fell for the gullible thing too.. Nothing wrong with being wrong now and again wink

Mad Scientistqlue Saturday, October 8, 2011 9:52:45 PM

To be fair, I was suspicious only because I have a firm working knowledge of electronics and Liquid Crystal. up.
I knew that it couldn't possibly be true without some trickery going on. I just needed to determine the nature of the gambit before I called foul though. p.

Next we'll explore how to launch an interplanetary probe, using only a screwdriver and a wedge of Gouda cheese.

OK... I didn't dismiss it entirely. I believed the memory part was possible. I just didn't get how the "data transfer" could be at all possible...

Mad Scientistqlue Sunday, October 9, 2011 10:19:49 AM

I didn't dismiss it entirely myself. I did consider the possibility that the magnet was somehow messing with the contacts of the "memory" buttons. But then it occured to me that the magnets he was using did not appear to be the rare earth magnets the video claimed they were. (which are usually a silvery or brassy colour)
It also occured to of that the strong magnets should have latched on to the steel casing of the battery, which should have caused the calculator to move with the magnet when he pulled it away. left.

HAHAHAHAHA!!! lol Once again, you had me belly laughin' like a fool, Robert! Now there is no doubt in my cat's mind that I'm truly insane. At least we have that in common...freaky little wench, she is. 24/7 running around the house MEEEOOOOOOWWWWW. My God, I cannot wait 'til she gets out of heat. bomb

The whole, "This might be fake" thing didn't even enter my brain in the least bit....'til someone said the word "fake". Then I thought, "Hmm. I've been duped AGAIN. Terrific." rolleyes

Oh, and Kimmie? If it were only now and then, that'd be okay. This is a daily thing for me, though. lol

Just out of curiosity, does anyone know hoe Apple's "non-movable part" HD actually operates. I am sooo curious...
