It's Beginning to Look A LOT Like Christmas

, , ,

My lovely and hilarious daughter, Sunny and I decided to shoot a video to show you guys the transformation that took place within our house today. As most of you know from years past, I really get into Christmas. Seems like every Christmas that goes by, I wind up with new Christmas decorations and other Christmas goodies. Honestly, I have my Mom to thank for most of that. She's the most generous person I've ever known and never fails to spoil me...especially where the Christmas decorations and other items are concerned. o heart

Anyway, I'd say we're about 70%-80% finished with the Christmas decorating. While the house already looks like a freakin' winter wonderland, I tend to have a, "You can never have too much Christmas stuff in your house" attitude. I think the fact that Jameson was born on Christmas day 20 years ago is partially the reason for this attitude.

Just to give you some idea of how much things have changed over the course of today, here is a picture of what our living room looked like about a month after we moved into the new house in mid-July:

Admittedly, it looks pretty sterile and bare. This was taken before we unpacked most of the house decorations and got pictures hung on the wall, etc. Also, I'm incredibly OCD, so sterile works well for me. scared

A simple picture wouldn't show our level of Christmasness (Yes, I made that one up.) So that's why Sunny and I opted for a video. Without further adieu, here is said rushed video:

Thanks, Carol...Merry Christmas & Happy New Year to you as well. Sunny & my Mom are both pretty artistic. Then again, so am I...not saying I'm great at it or anything, but being artsy-fartsy definitely runs in the family. At least the female side. up

Kimmie: lol All of those nutcracker thingies seem a bit freaky to me. My Mom LOVES them, but they kinda trip me out. left Like they're just waiting for the right moment to eat'cher eyeballs or something.

The cats actually get their own gifts...and we kinda have them open them by themselves, even. lol I'll video tape it this Christmas. One year a few years back, we couldn't afford a whole lot, so we skipped cat gifts. Araya (my spoiled kitty) literally threw a fit. She was running around the house yelling and then she'd hide and pout. Lesson learned! lol Now, even if we can't really afford it, we'll get them each something small just so they don't feel left out.

lol Couldn't resist the Michael J. Fox remark. devil

left Sorry for yucking myself. I'll do my best to knock it off. right

Sunny's the nerd. I'm perfectly normal! o

Spaggyj Monday, November 28, 2011 9:01:17 AM

I think Sunny's a nerd because she gets if from you lol
You better tape the cat gift thing - that'll be awesome to watch bigsmile
Nutcrackers = scary = YES scared

KarenNerak Monday, November 28, 2011 9:19:39 AM

I think you're right. She's so much like me it's frightening. bigeyes

I promise to tape the cat gift opening thing! lol Watching them get excited when they know it's their turn cracks me up. My cat is way more out-going and stuff, so she gets really into it. Lonnie's cat is far more timid, so if she realizes that you're watching her too much, she does the whole run & hide routine. Either way, there will be some shredded gift wrap from kitty paws! yes

When I was a kid, the decoration were put up on Christmas Eve. lol .
Now it seems like people start taking them down on Christmas Eve. rolleyes .
Kinda reminds me of that Charlie Brown Easter Special where the Christmas specials were being advertised in July. lol .

You thought right! o Though, I would never wear red...it makes me feel like I'm a barn. lol

Dacotah Monday, November 28, 2011 9:09:58 PM

Goes back to watch. bigsmile

KarenNerak Monday, November 28, 2011 9:18:33 PM

I only mentioned one thing I painted, so you won't know which things I did or didn't do. lol I'm stealthy like that. I prefer to give credit to others rather than myself. The one Santa was my only exception. wink

Lovely (though it feels a bit early for decorations to me whistle ) I really like your Christmas tree centrepiece. My aunt had one of those too.

KarenNerak Monday, November 28, 2011 10:55:52 PM

Like I said, we've decorated on the weekend following Thanksgiving forever. smile To each their own. bigsmile

Thanks! I love that little thing and am really grateful that my Mom made it. o

hi

KarenNerak Tuesday, November 29, 2011 3:32:12 AM

bigsmilehi I just finished hanging lights around the sliding glass door and the front window. Tomorrow my Mom and I are going to dig into another huge tub of Christmas stuff and do more decorating. We still have bedrooms and bathrooms to decorate. yes

Dacotah Tuesday, November 29, 2011 4:19:12 AM

Your place will be a beautiful Christmas Wonderland. smile
Here's a stupid question, your mom live you now?
I answered her email, I hope she got it.
smile

KarenNerak Tuesday, November 29, 2011 4:39:02 AM

Yes, my Mom lives with us again - and it is NOT a stupid question! wink

Hmmm...I'm gonna break my foot off in her keister if she doesn't get better about returning people's emails. She does it to everyone and then they ask me if she's mad at them. She's not...she's just lazy with emailing. lol

Mad Scientistqlue Tuesday, November 29, 2011 1:30:38 PM

I understand lazy to write and post snail mail, but lazy to email? Now that's a special kind of talent! lol .
pssst . I usually respond to emails as soon as I've read them. But I only check them once in a while. left (anywhere from once a week to once in three months. whistle )

Uncle MickMickeyjoe-Irl Tuesday, November 29, 2011 7:04:00 PM

What is it about mothers and email? I've got people who email me when they want to get a message to her because they know it's faster.

BTW Karen, I think I might move in next to you. It would make my holiday decorating much easier.
