1.5", fully-embroidered, Velcro-backed. Attach to your jacket, your backpack, or the lid of your over-clocked, battle-scarred laptop. Start a nerd sash! (via:: Nerd Merit Badges)

When I was a little kid, I was in Brownies. While I enjoyed churning handmade butter in a baby food jar :left:, I never felt like I belonged. Well, now big ol' nerds like me can finally have our nifty little sashes and feel like one of the cool kids at the same time!

:sst: Now I just need to happen upon a laptop to strap the sash to!

Video Random Randomness©: Part III

, , ,

I've noticed some things while watching this video that I was completely unaware of before:
• I have a minor lisp. I seriously had NO idea. Nobody's ever told me before.
• I roll my eyes A LOT!
• My chin looks enormous on camera!
• I giggle too much when I'm anxious.
• My hand is FAR from steady!
• It seems like I slur a lot. Huh? WTF is up with that? I'm sober, damn it!

In addition to those little gems, I would like to add that no - I am not dying. I have bags under my eyes and always have. I'm Arabic & that goes with the territory. I do everything I can to cover those things up, but am not generally too successful. I've been wanting surgery to correct them since I was about 12...I get sick of people pointing them out and asking me if I'm tired. :frown: I'm not tired...I'm just deformed.

I won't mention the bags again. I just felt the need to explain them since someone mentioned them the last time I did a video. This is me, people. Take me or leave me.

Okay - now that I've justified everything I can think of ( ), here's my babbling face:

Survey Time!

If I looked on the bed next to you, what would I find?
Depends...Lonnie, I guess. He's usually there when I am.

Do you go to the bathroom with the door open or closed?
Again - depends. If it's the master bathroom, then I pee with it open if nobody's in the bedroom. (Although I'll still go if Lonnie's in there. I don't care if he sees me pee. p: )

Are your underwear and socks folded in your drawer or just thrown in?
They're not in a drawer, but they're kinda piled up in categories. :insane:

Sleep on your back or stomach?
Both...sides, too.

Are you a cuddler?
Sometimes, but not too often.

What would I find if I looked UNDER your bed?
An electric guitar in its case.

Something that happened today that made you angry?
Nothing yet. *knocking on wood*

Writing an email to my daughter's teacher.

What will you do after the survey?
Post it on my blog

Marriage or living together?
Engaged & living together...for now.

What shirt are you wearing now?
Black Pink Floyd t-shirt. It was my son's, but he out-grew it. That happens a lot & I love it! Unfortunately, I think he's reaching the end of his growing. :frown: No more free & awesome t-shirts for me.

Do you sing?
Not well, but yes.

Do you de-label your beer bottles?
I don't drink anymore, but when I was a beer drinker I was known to strip the bottle a few times.

Do you talk about your feelings or hide them?
I do my best to hide them, but am not generally successful.

Is there something you regret and wish you could take back?
No.

First thing you do when you wake up?
Open my eyes. I'm so sick of this question.

Ever had surgery?
Yes...three times.

Last argument you got into with?
Lonnie

Do you tend to rip the paper off water bottles?
No. I leave the lables on.

Not a chance in hell.

What are you looking forward to in the next few months?
Spring!

It's midnight. Who are you texting?
I used to text Sarah through the PC, but not since her daughter claimed the phone. p:

It's Wednesday afternoon, where are you usually?
Same place I am every other day: Home. :o:

Honestly, if you could have ANYONE in the world, who would it be?
"Have" them? Like for a meal? :right:

Your Christmas list consists of?
Items for the kids & Lonnie.

You're going to New York for shopping, where do you go first?
Ummm...WalMart. I'd still be broke!

You need a new pair of jeans, what store do you go to first?
See the answer above.

How do you feel about your hair?
I pretty much couldn't hate it more.

What movie is in your DVD player?
There had better not be one in there. :irked: I'm totally anal retentive about that.

If you could move away, no questions asked, where would you move?
I honestly don't know. I'm very torn on top of being indecisive.

How much do looks matter to you in a guy/girl?
They matter a little bit, but not nearly as much as what between the ears.

What's the greatest thing that happened to you today?
The weather has been so awesome today! It lifts my spirits a lot.

What would you change about your life right now?
I wish I could remove all debt and start from square one. :wizard:

Birthday Babbling

, ,

As most of you already know, today is my 36th birthday. :hat: Thank you to those of you who have been amazing with the birthday wishes. It means the world to me!

I've decided that I'm going to kinda babble about what I've learned over the past 36 years...

No matter what my chronological age, I will always feel younger than I am. This is most certainly why I mesh so well with younger people...even kids. It's not just that they like me or something...it's more like I'm one of them! I never want this fact to change. Life is far too long & difficult to not have fun in the process.

NEVER trust first impressions when it comes to the opposite sex. No offense, men...I know there are A LOT of good ones out there. I simply have a history of making bad choices where relationships are concerned. People are always on their best behavior at first...I've learned that people need to give it time before they fully commit to someone. You never know what the other person will end up being like once their true colors are revealed. (Hence Marc.)

I grew up very spoiled - got everything I wanted. When I got into the 'real world', I had absolutely no clue that it'd be so rough. Soooo, I've not only learned to live with shit-tons less & be truly happy...but I've also learned to teach my kids that they don't get everything they want and that life has some pretty freakin' harsh realities. I think that sugar-coating the world around us for the kids would be a huge disservice to them.

True friends come in all shapes, sizes, colors...etc. There was a time in my life when I was far more judgmental than I am now. I guess I've learned to cut the general population of the world some slack. After all, harboring feelings of dislike, hatred, and negativity only hurts me. I try to find the best in everyone. Yes - there are people I truly cannot stand. I'm not perfect...but I would still never wish said people harm. There was a time in my life when all I did was wish people harm, so I can say I've grown quite a bit in that respect.

I've learned over the years that I detest cooking (although I'm good at it, damn it!), but have quite a knack for baking. Cupcakes are my very favorite things to bake. I adore them.

I have always put everyone before myself. Always. I still do. I now realize that this isn't healthy, but I cannot seem to be selfish...even in a good way. I really need to work on this. Treating myself like shit isn't setting a good example for my kids - especially my daughter. I really, really struggle with this one.

The older I get, the more & more I detest politics, but mostly politicians.

I have almost every disorder known to man, but I'm finally at a point in my life where it doesn't embarrass or bother me. I've learned to live with everything in a fairly productive and healthy way. I used to feel overwhelmed by all the mental shit...but I have an inner peace now that I've never had before.

Speaking of the inner peace - I'm sure it's got a lot to do with my faith. I'm not exactly sure how long I've been a Christian now. I thought it was only a year, but now that I really give it thought, I'm thinking it's been two years. Ever since I began to give my life to God, I feel much more safe and secure. As they say - if God is with you, who can be against you? If only I'd have seen the light much sooner in life. Oh well.

I have zero regrets in life...and I will never have any. I don't think I could've said that 10 years ago.

I never thought I'd say this, but I now realize just how important exercise & healthy eating is. I used to be quite the junk food junkie and hardly ever got exercise. Ugh...I felt so much more weighed down than I do now. Being active, enjoying life, and giving my body the proper fuel it needs in order for me to enjoy my life has become a priority.

I always knew I had an artistic side to myself. I took every art class my high school offered...and some on the side. I've always had a passion for art. I used to draw & paint, but that's been years. I now use my computer to create stuff. I only wish I had more time to create things I really enjoy. Lately, I've just been cranking stuff out for other people & not really enjoying being artistic like I used to. I hope this will change & go back to the way it was. I truly miss it - it seems to complete me when I'm able to spend time doing artistic stuff for myself.

Now that I'm an old fart, I like WAY more foods than I used to. Yes, I am still quite picky, but not nearly as picky as I used to be. With age has come the ability to ignore the appearance of the food & enjoy the flavor. Broccoli is a perfect example. I refused to even try it when I was younger. Now it's my favorite veggie. In other words, I'm not nearly as shallow about it. :D

This is going to sound totally cruel and mean, but I generally cannot stand kids! I adore and love my own...and I also quite like some friends' kids, but I'd say that I cannot stand a good 90% of children I come across in public. Is it just me, or have they become brattier and less respectful? I'm telling you what - if I caught my kids saying/doing some of the stuff I see these little brats at WalMart doing, I would go ape shit on their asses. No - I've never hit my kids. Never had a reason to.

I've learned that I pretty much hate driving now that I'm older. Not sure what it's about, but I would MUCH rather passenger than drive. It's not that I'm a bad driver...quite the contrary. I just hate doing it...I NEVER EVER would've thought I'd say that! I remember when I first got my license when I was 16...oh man. I wouldn't get out of my car! Now I don't even like going in a car just to go get coffee. (which I'm STILL out of. )

You know, I could go on and on like this for hours, so I think I'll just go ahead and stop now. Thank you again to all of you wonderfully amazing people who have sent me cards, created blog entries just for me, wished me a happy birthday...basically, thank you for being my friends. I'm going on three years here on My.Opera, and I've never met a group of such genuinely good people in one place! I love you guys to death...whether you realize it or not, you keep me going at times. Thank you again!

And now here's a lovely song by Dethklok for you to enjoy! :headbang: It's called "Birthday Deathday" - I picked one with lyrics that show on there so you know what the hell he's saying. :headbang: (Dethklok freakin' pwns!!!)

I'm A Twit

,

Okay, so I'm completely addicted to Twitter. Pretty much everyone knows this. Lately, though, people are givin' me shit for tweeting so much. :frown:

For example:

Oh, and this gem, too:

Originally posted by Subject to Remain Anonymous:

I think @NerdyNerak will have broken the tweets per minute record on Twitter before the day's out.

And lastly, this:

Originally posted by Subject to Remain Anonymous:

Well, @NerdyNerak crashed Twitter!

:irked: As if I could crash Twitter! And if I could, then it's a piece of crap in the first place! GOSH! So I'm a tad bit talkative. Is that so wrong?! There are several more tweets of this nature from a plethora of people.

So, anyway...I decided to check my stats out the other day:
(this is a screenshot from today)

:eyes: 10,991 IS sorta excessive, huh? One would think that I'm high on speed or something, but nope. I'm not on anything at all...just a babbly kinda gal, I suppose. I'm wondering, though. Do I need Twitter Rehab? :worried:

A Little Bit O' Random Randomness©

, , ,

I'm feeling kinda gabby, so this is the perfect time for some Randomness.

I'm thinking I want to create some badass backgrounds for the Opera Speed Dial contest thing, but I dunno. :worried: I hate failing...and if I failed the contest somehow, I'd feel like complete crap about myself. I realize that it's better to try & fail than not try at all, but I don't deal with failure well. I dunno...I might open up Photoshop and see what happens. Time will tell. Anyone know the deadline?

I'm so tan right now! I love it. And not having tan lines is freakin' awesome. I keep catching myself by surprise when I walk by the full-length mirror. :eyes: I'm so used to being pale!

It started raining today. My thoughts: "Shit. It starts." It rains about 8 months out of the freakin' year here, so when I start to see leaves falling from trees & all the other signs of Fall, I get bummed out. I just love summer & the sun so much...I hate seeing it go.

We have seriously got to get a vehicle soon. Having to borrow my Mom's car is a pain in the ass. Especially now that she's working. I'd be riding my bike or walking everywhere, but since my knee is so screwed up, the doctor said to stay off of it. We have to get a cheap-ass vehicle before my Mom has enough money saved up to move out. I can't imagine having to carry groceries that far on a bum knee.

I just made dinner for everyone, but I'm not going to eat. I'm not hungry for some reason. It'll probably hit me in a couple hours...when I'm in bed trying to wind down & get some sleep. I hate it when that happens.

What the Hell happened to Tina Turner? Is she still alive? If so, where is she? I'm not a fan or anything - I just heard her singing on TV a second ago and it made me wonder.

Fresh green beans freakin' rule! :headbang: I used to loathe green beans when I was a kid, but I quite enjoy them now...especially when they're fresh. My Mom got some at the Farmer's Market over the weekend, so I cooked 'em up for a side with dinner last night. Soooooo good!

My very awesome friend of about 6+ years, Jason, sent me a gift in the mail the other day! I'm going to do a separate blog post about it. THAT is how badass the gift is! :headbang: I'll probably take care of the post tomorrow. :D

Getting adjusted to a 'normal' sleeping schedule was proving to be a pain. My daughter started school back up on the 9th. Since then, I've been hitting the sheets around 22:00 and waking up at 06:30. That's plenty of sleep...if I could actually get to sleep in a timely fashion! The past couple of nights, I've been taking two Klonopin when I go to bed. Genius idea! I don't roll around and try to sleep anymore. I actually get real sleep! :yikes: It's a terrific feeling. I must admit that I truly miss my late nights, though. I've always been a night owl, so to have to go to bed so early is killin' me! I just can't believe that the Klonopin is helping. Ambien didn't even help! :eyes:

I think I might go hot tubbing tonight. My neck could use it. It's almost 21:00 now, so I'd better do it soon if I'm going to do it! I just asked Lonnie if he wanted to, and he said, "Maybe. It's a possibility." That means, "Yes, but I don't want to commit to anything." p:

Lonnie got my site switched over to the new server earlier. It's not up & running yet...I have to do that part. I don't know that I want to, though. I mean, why bother? I was making a few bucks per month on Google ads, but other than that, it really had no purpose. I do most of my babbling here. If I could think of a unique & fun idea to do with the site rather than another blog, I would consider relaunching it. Until then, it'll stay down.

Meh. I'm out of things to babble about. I'm too busy doing my thing over on Twitter. I'm an addict. :D Besides...I've gotta get ready to go tubbin'.
