Oregon Museum of Science and Industry, also known as OMSI has an exhibit going on until the 18th of September that I so want to go check out. Maybe I'll request that it be my early birthday present.

Here's a run-down:
Play your way through the past, present, and future of global gaming. From Pong to Gran Turismo, Game On 2.0 is a hands-on experience of video game history and culture, and includes over 125 playable games, including Mario All Stars, Wii Sports, Gran Turismo, Halo Reach, Pacman, Zelda and Sonic the Hedgehog.
Explore over 40 years of gaming entertainment; from the very first commercial coin-op game to the latest in virtual reality and 3D technology. Game On 2.0 celebrates game design, development, and production including original concept and character art and history’s most influential arcade consoles.
If I end up going, I'll be sure to take tons of pics & report back with all of details!

Can you even believe it's been 20 years since the launch of Super Nintendo?!
I mean, it's been 20 long years since the first appearance of Yoshi! Just doesn't feel like it's been two decades. August of 1991...wow. I was 17 years old & my son was still in the womb at that time. He's now a full-grown man, getting ready to enter his 20's.
Holy shiz, I'm old. When the SNES was first released, it retailed for $200. Back then, that was outrageous!
Not a whole lot of parents were willing to pay that price for a gaming system for their kids. Needless to say, there were a lot of pissed off kids. As a matter of fact, the first time I even played an SNES was the day I bought it. I was the first of my friends to have one...and no, I did not share.
I was too busy playing it, myself, to hand the controller over to anyone else. The first game I played on the SNES was The Legend of Zelda...of course.
I clearly recall the first time I beat the game. I was staying with my Mom in her house. I had my SNES in my bedroom and spent hour upon hour beating the piss out of boss after boss. The final boss came around and after a few failed attempts, I finally slaughtered his ass!
I proceeded to jump around while hooting and hollering. My Mom came running down the hall while exclaiming, "What happened?! Are you okay?!" She apparently thought I'd hurt myself or something.
I screeched, "I beat it! I BEAT IT!!" When she finally realized what I was saying, she gave me a look that said, "You have GOT to be kidding me. Get a grip, Karen." I don't think I'll ever forget that day.
So anyway, Happy Anniversary to Super Nintendo!
Thank you for bringing me countless hours of happiness.
I
you ever so much!
