Thankful, Hell Yes!, Friends, Link Crazy
My friend of several years, Carlos, just informed me that he nominated my blog in the "Best Blogger To Follow" category on Mashable's Open Web Awards!
As I'm sure you can imagine, I'm very flattered.
If you feel like voting for me as well, that'd be neato, but I'm not begging for votes or anything. I just think the whole concept is pretty cool and the thought that little ol' me might get a vote or two (other than my own) would be flippin' swell.
Click on this little button if you wanna vote:

Thanks to anyone who might vote for me. I really do appreciate this type of thing. It makes me feel all loved and supported.

God, Recommendation, Sarah, Thankful
I was talking with Sarah on her blog earlier. I mentioned that I never read unless it's the Bible & a couple other exceptions. Sarah then mentioned that she should read her Bible more. My advice to her was to find a Bible that she really loves. Like I said to her - if the Bible is all stiff and icky looking, you'll be less apt to want to read it.
That's why I recently (about 3-4 months ago) bought a new Bible. I had grown tired of my old one, so I wasn't reading it like I should've been. Well, ever since I bought this new Bible a few months ago, I have no problems being motivated to read it. The book is so flippin' cool that I really love reading it!
I took some pictures of my Bible.
I want to show you what it looks like.
Here is the front cover of it. It's made of leather,
but this picture is horrible, so it's hard to tell.
It's a hot pink color, light blue, and dark brown.
Here's a shot of the silver gilding along the pages...
They also have quizzes throughout the Bible.
They're really cool & quite informative.
There are a lot of graphics in my Bible.
Here's one example which is a short story pertaining
to what can be found in the text of the Bible in the same area...
Another feature of my Bible are the sections called "Daily Devos"
...which, as the name suggests, are daily devotionals...
Lastly, here is an example of what the
text & layout looks like on a regular page.
The makers of the Bible didn't fail to make it
very pleasing to the eye.
...
The thing about my Bible is that it's intended for teenage girls. I've not been a Christian for very long, though, so all the little quizzes and stories really help me to understand what's being said in the text of the Bible.
Another thing that I love about my Bible is that it's the New Century Version. It's SO easy to read...once I get started, I find myself not wanting to put it down! Instead of the Bible feeling like a reference book, it now feels more like an actual story that's easy to read. I hate reading, so finding books that are easy to read is just fine with me!

God, Thankful, Friends, Moving
I want to update all of you as to what's going on with my living situation...etc....
My Dad finally ended up wiring me the money to pay the move-in costs for the apartment we'd been approved for. Lonnie went to the complex yesterday morning and gave them the money in order to ensure that nobody else got the place before we could. It's officially our apartment, but we can't move in until tomorrow. They're having it professionally cleaned and whatnot.
I love clean places, so that's awesome with me!
Remember how the church had told us they were going to help us, but then retracted what they offered? Well, they finally came through as well!
After Lonnie got home from securing the apartment yesterday morning, he got a phone call from one of the church members. They decided to help us pay for the utility deposits and whatnot! Needless to say, Lonnie and I are/were both stunned that they came through for us. We really thought they'd forgotten us and weren't going to help at all. That's one more lesson learned - I need to refrain from assuming people are uncaring jerks and give people more of a chance to redeem themselves.
I've learned SO many lessons through all of this. Once you've looked homelessness in the face for over a week, you are bound to learn some lessons. I most certainly have. The little things mean so much more to me now than they ever have...and I know that they will continue to mean a lot to me. This was a complete slap in the face from God, I think. He really gave us a big wake-up call. We were living way too far beyond our means for too long, and we really ended up paying for it. Lesson learned for sure! We're going to be trading in our vehicle for a much less expensive one that gets better gas mileage ASAP. We've got to earn the right to have an awesome vehicle. Until then, I'm totally cool with driving a clunker that gets me from point A to point B.
Thank you to ALL of you who've been praying for us and/or sending us good vibes! I wish I could thank all of you enough, but I doubt that I'll ever be able to. Please just know that having your support has meant the world to me. All of you are my little angels who've been here for me and looked out for my family. I love my family here on My.Opera more than I could ever express. Just knowing that you guys were pulling for us meant SO MUCH to all of us. If there is ever anything I can do to repay any of you, I will certainly do my best!
Anyway, tomorrow is our big move in day! Lonnie just got off the phone with a couple guys who've volunteered to help us out. Thank God! Our apartment is on the top (3rd) floor, so that'd be sheer Hell for Lonnie and me to do by ourselves. We've always moved ourselves in the past, but now that our backs are even more messed up and I blew out my right knee a couple weeks ago, we'd be a pretty pathetic moving team. Of course, we will do whatever lifting we can do and not rely on these volunteers more than we absolutely have to, but they'll definitely have to help us get the big stuff up all of those stairs.
I'm DYING to get settled in and be able to relax! The complex has a pool, hot tub, sauna, fitness room, and even a free tanning bed!
I can't believe that we get all of those amenities and our rent is still so freakin' reasonable! We should've moved into an apartment MUCH sooner! Yet another lesson learned! Once we get settled in, I'll take pictures so everyone can see the new place - like I've done every other time I've moved. Hopefully I won't be moving again for a VERY long time!
That pretty much sums everything up. Thank you again to all of you who have been so amazing through all of this! You're all angels to me.

Productivity, Thankful, Hell Yes!, Sunny
The weather is freakin' PERFECT today!
Of course, the people who don't do heat
well are bitching, (COUGHmyMomCOUGH),
but meh...I LOVE the heat! I just got
back inside after doing an assload of
yard work. You may be asking yourself,
"How much freakin' work does her yard
need? She's always doing yard work!"
Well, it doesn't really NEED it...I'm
just one of those people who constantly
hunts for a weed to poke up or a spider
web to form...etc.
Today I hand-picked grass blades out of
my bark chips. When the lawn gets mowed,
it tends to throw some grass into the bark
chips and then it sits in there and turns
yellow and looks icky. We cannot have that.
So now, it's all gone.
I also swept the entire front porch area
and the sidewalk...etc. Now it's all pristine...
just the way I prefer EVERYTHING to be.
(OCD, remember?) I was going to plant some
flower seeds that I picked up at Dollar Tree
for 4/$1, but I can't seem to find my little
hand-held shovel. Where the Hell did it go?
My motto has always been, "Everything has a
place and everything IN its place." It's not
in it's place! I'm totally wiggin' out. I nearly
pulled the entire garage apart looking for it,
but cannot find it. I'm freakin'. My fear is
that perhaps I left it outside (out of character)
the last time I used it and some jackass stole it.
I can't imagine stealing a hand-help shovel, but
people are assholes. Period.
So anyway, the point to this post is to say
that Summer is almost here...I feel it, I love
it, and I CANNOT wait to get my ass to the beach!
We go to the beach a lot during the summer, so
I'm dying for our first trip there this year.
I've even been losing shit-tons of weight so
I can wear a bikini and not look like a whale
with dental floss trapped around my flab.
PLUS!!!! I have NEVER taken video at the
beach, so that will be a first this year!
You guys will get to see us hanging out at the beach.
w00t!
(I posted my desktop sidebar so you could
see the temp..and moon phase.

Lonnie, Thankful, Gift, Mario
As I posted a while back, I've been wanting a Mario 1up Mushroom thingy from ThinkGeek.com for such a long time. I tried to locate my old post about it, but my patience is limited.
Well, a couple weeks ago, I got an unexpected email from ThinkGeek.com saying that I'd won a gift certificate.
I still have no idea how or why I won since I didn't enter to win or anything, but hey...I'm not about to complain! I finally got the 1up shroom I've been dying for forever!

Here's a picture of it...

I have it sitting right here on my desk keeping me happy throughout the day. I wrote to the people at ThinkGeek.com and thanked them, but I honestly don't think they even cared...but I still felt the need to write.
To top that off, Lonnie needed to go to the mall this weekend to pick something up. Of course, I went with him. Like I've said before, prior to moving to the Portland area, I hated malls. Now, though, I love them. The malls around here are at least two stories high...usually three...and they're just flippin' awesome. Well, Lonnie suddenly made a quick left turn and led me into a nail salon.
I almost died right there on the spot! I always have a French Manicure, but I have always done it myself. Lonnie's always known how badly I've wanted a professional French Manicure, so he totally surprised me by taking me to have my nails done!
Can you believe that? I mean really...how sweet! He even sat in a chair right next to me and watched the whole process. It was so nice to not only have them done, but to have him right to my left being his sweet and supportive self.
I'm just so lucky to have him...I couldn't possibly be more in love with him than I am.

Anyway, the end result is awesome. I LOVE my nails. Lonnie paid a little extra to have what they call 'Solar Nails' done. When we asked what the difference is, they told us that the Solar Nails last like 2384 longer than the standard nails and also are MUCH stronger and won't chip and that sort of thing. I tend to be kinda hard on things, so Lonnie knew the Solar ones were the perfect ones for me.
Well, the whole process took about an hour and a half, but the end result is just so pretty.
Although I could barely understand the Asian woman who did my nails, she really knew her stuff! It's
almost like an art form. Seriously. That's a skill I would love to acquire. Lonnie said he thinks I'd probably be fairly good at it, so we might head over to Sally Beauty Supply to see if they have all the junk I'd need to try to do it on my own. I could practice on my Mom...she's always game for that sort of thing.
Anyway, I had a Hell of a time taking a picture of my own stupid hand for some reason, but here's how my nails look....

Those are my satin PJ bottoms in the background.
They're so comfy.
Please keep in mind that my hands don't usually look that meaty. I'm retaining what must be like 348 gallons of water.

I've had a pretty decent time with life lately. We're still struggling a lot here and there, but that's all surface stuff like finances, clients...etc. The stuff that really matters is going so well for us lately. I feel truly happy inside and I've not been able to say that for a very long time. It's not the toys or manicures...it's the feelings behind everything. Of course I appreciate and thank God for all of the fun and neat things I've got...but I thank Him even more for this feeling of inner peace I've gotten lately.

Thanks for taking the time to read my babbling! I hope you have a truly wonderful day and that you, too, will feel the inner peace I'm speaking of.
