Suck It! ...Random Randomness, That Is.
Wednesday, March 31, 2010 2:21:45 AM
It's been for-freakin-ever since I last wrote any Random Randomness, so here I am to cure that issue!
I hope everyone is well! Spring is on the way here in the good ol' U.S. of A., so I'm totally thrilled about that.- I'd like to take this opportunity to wish Carol a very Happy Birthday!
Carol, I'm sorry that I missed you on Yahoo earlier. I left the room for a minute, and when I came back I saw that you'd messaged and logged out before I
could message back. I hope you're having a really wonderful birthday! Love you lots!
- A LOT of stuff has gone on in my life since I last did any Random Randomness. Since this is a public entry, I'd rather not go into great detail, but what I will say is that I'm happier right now than I have been in years. Lonnie and I had separated for a couple of months. At the time of the separation, I honestly did not see how things could
ever work out. Fast forward to today -- we're officially back together and are very, very happy with each other. We've learned how to communicate effectively over the past couple of months, and have taken all of the bad things that have happened lately and are using them to our benefit by learning from our mistakes. I told Lonnie yesterday, "I'm so happy to have you back. The you I first fell in love with." He can say the same about me, I'm sure.
Things are SO different than they were and I couldn't be happier about it!
- I'm making Tater Tot Casserole for dinner tonight. It's soooo simple and the kids freakin' love that junk! No, it's not the
healthiest meal ever, but it's nice to have such a simple dinner once in a while.
I like to substitute the ground beef for ground turkey. I, personally, think it's tastier that way, but even if not, it's way better for ya'.
EDIT: Sunny took over and is making the Tater Tot Casserole as I type this. She loves cooking dinner for the whole family, and I love letting her do it, so yay!
- We've been getting a couple sunny days mixed in with all of the gloomy/rainy days lately. It's such a nice change! I can feel myself naturally getting happier and less like a hermit. I'm not the most social person anyway, but when it's cold, wet, and nasty every single day, I tend to keep to myself even more. When the sun comes out, it's like I blossom along with the flowers. Yes, I realize how gay that sounds...
It's true, though!
- I've lost a couple close friends over the past few months...for different reasons. It's never easy to stop being a friend with someone after so long, but when you've come to a point in the friendship where it's no longer healthy and drama-free, it's time to do some serious soul searching. That's what I recently did. I must say; it feels very good
to feel like I stood up for myself and put my foot down. Even if only figuratively. Once again, I'm taking the situations and am learning valuable lessons from them.
One lesson I've learned is that I give too much of my heart to others too easily. It never fails to come back to bite me on the ass when I do so. I hate to be less trusting of others, but hey...if I don't look out for myself, who will? Right?

- I see that I've not lost my gift for gab!
- I was roaming through my blog the other day and noticed that there are lots and lots of blog entries where the pictures I added are no longer there. That's because I hosted the images on my Karen's Chronicles account when I had it. Now that I've let my site die, the pictures died with it.
No biggie...I just wanted to explain why there are lots of dead links out there.
- My kids are both doing really well.
Jameson is doing manual labor jobs through a labor place here in town. He's basically just doing that to tide himself over 'til he gets a steady job. I'm quite proud of him. Sunny's still doing great in school. She got her report card last Friday - straight A's again!
I'm SO proud of her as well!
This week is Spring Break, so I've been doing whatever I can to keep Sunny busy and make sure she doesn't spend her break from school all bored with nothing to do. I was hoping it'd be sunny outside today so we could play tennis, but oh well. Maybe tomorrow. We're going to go hot tubbing in a little while, so that'll be fun.
- The four of us have been playing a game called Cranium lately. It's SO fun. We do it in teams...two on each team. (obviously) Even Jameson thinks it's fun, and he's 18, so if you've got a
family and are looking for a fun activity, I recommend going to Toys R Us and picking up Cranium. It's so much fun for people of all ages.
- My coffee intake has slowed down a little lately. I've gone from 3-4 pots per day to only about 1 pot per day. I have no clue what that's all about. I'm certainly not slowing down intentionally. I think part of it has to do with the fact that Lonnie's intake has increased, so if mine stayed as huge as it was before, we'd be constantly brewing pots of coffee!
I really wish I could grow coffee and roast it myself. That would rule so hardcore!
- I got new frames for my glasses about a week or so ago, so now I can see again!
I really hate these
frames, but my insurance would only pay for the identical frames of the ones that had broken, so I'm stuck with these for now. I'm not sure why I don't like them...other than the fact that I look like a complete jackass in them, I mean.
- I made Chocolate Cupcakes last night. (that's an actual picture of them) They're a big hit. I made about 20 of them, and there are about 5 of them left.
Someone got up in the middle of the night and had a
little snack. Of course, nobody is fessing up. Hehe. It honestly doesn't even matter to me. I appreciate the fact that they enjoy my baking so much.

- I guess I'd better go get started on that Tater Tot Casserole! (Sunny already did..yay!) I've actually enjoyed writing this again quite a bit, so I just might have to get better about doing it more often. I know I've lost the majority of my readers, but that's not why I do it, anyway.
Have a great day/night everyone!

Glad Jameson is doing well.

I don't put veggies in my Tater Tot Casserole. Just meat, Cream of Mushroom Soup, grated cheese, tater tots, and a tiny bit of seasoned salt on the top.
Thank you so much for the comments! Make sure you get some cake in your system sometime soon. You can't have a birthday go by without cake!

Sounds good, I will have to try it with turkey.
You are welcome.

It's very tasty with ground turkey, so I'm sure you'll like it just as much, if not more.
Make sure to shove a candle in your cheesecake!

Oh, well, hope you and Lonnie can manage to work things out after the "new" has worn off again. It's tough for two people to live together now seems like. I think there are just too many outs for couples now. Hope things continue to work out for you.
And happy to see you back. Of COURSE, we know you are going to get bored again sooner or later, but also know you always come back.
It has been in the late 70s here today, and is supposed to be in the 80s for the rest of the week. I am SO happy about it. You shouldn't even be living where you do considering how much you are affected by the weather. Need to pick a sunshine state.
I've never made a tater tot casserole but I believe I've eaten them at church potluck dinners. I'm going to hunt up a recipe----or you could PM me one---and try it. It would feed me for several days.

I really do need to live in a sunnier state, but until we can afford to relocate again, I've just got to make the best of where we are. Like I said; the fact that Spring is coming helps me so much. I just wish Summer lasted longer than it does.
...As for Lonnie & me, I'm very optimistic. Yes, things are still at the honeymoon phase & all, but we've also learned good ways to communicate with each other. We're going back into the relationship armed with some very valuable communication skills. Both of the kids have said that they notice a major change in Lonnie and me...a change for the better, so that's confirmation to us that we're on the right track.

That casserole sounds great. I might have to try that one of these nights.
Chocolate cupcakes are tasty!

Just when I have the perfect witty comments, it dawns on me that some comment can, quite unintentionally, hit a nerve for a good friend!
(is that what they call a 'pregnant pause'
Anyway, what I was gonna say was that both love and Facebook games can seriously mess with your brain!
