This post is gonna have a bit of a French feel to it. Well, French with a bit of Sheffield in it.
I found this recording (Black Session - Une Soirée Avec JC) that the amazing Monsieur Cocker did in France in November 2006 to promote his "Jarvis" album, and it is very, very good. Jarvis' French isn't *too* bad and it made me smile. It's worth checking out alone for the brilliant live version of "Fat Children" and it captures pretty well what he's like live. Talking of which, he's also on tour at the moment in the Uk, so you might wanna go and see him live, because he does rock like a bitch on stage.

Jarvis Cocker @ Looking Rough At 30 at Carling Academy Carling Academy, Birmingham, United Kingdom
Another couple of French artists I'm loving at the moment are Yelle and Thomas Dutronc. Yelle's had loads of hype through the blogs and it has to be said justly so. Her album "Pop Up" is pretty much the only thing that can give me the energy to get out of bed in the morning and if you're a fan of chewing gum electro pop, you've really gotta get hold of a copy. Besides, I love the tongue-in-cheek lyrics of "Je Veux Te Voir"... I don't think they taught you that kind of French in school. Check it out **here**.
Thomas Dutronc is a little bit overshadowed by the success of his parents (Françoise Hardy and Jacques Dutronc) but the boy has a voice on him that could break hearts. "J'aime Plus Paris" is one of my favourite songs of his and will hopefully be one of yours too. **Cliquez ici**
