Young Knives Guardian, Glastonbury 2008
This is being written on a computer in the Orange Chill and Charge tent and amid the thoughts of possible Identity fraud because I've logged onto this, it has been a fucking brilliant couple of days. Plus today it's sunny as hell and everyone is smiling - My people are charging phones before see Elbow, so hence the update. Thursday night's highlight was Roisin Murphy at The Queen's Head. It was a packed to the rafters live show and she was on fire. Although I've only known her stuff from Moloko I have to say that I've become a huge fan. Yesterday I managed to catch Ben Folds who was great despite the rain. His duet with the singer from Dresden Dolls was great and watching him work a piano was like watching a genius at work. The Enemy put on a solid set and newcomers The New York Fund at The BBC Introducing tent raised smiles all round. They have a solid American-Garage rock influence and look like Camden wideboys. Fun. Today's highlight for me was seeing The Young Knives acoustic set at the Guardian Tent. I wasn't too sure whether whether their brand of post-punk indie rock would work acoustically, but they were fantastic. The tent is great too - super bright and initimate (the security guy said that they have a 200 capacity when everyone is sitting down) plus it's kitted out like a Morrocan hideaway. It was nice to sit down on cushions and chill to some tunes.
There's been loads of other stuff too - Bit of Courteeners, Black Kids, random comedy, hanging out at The Stone Circle (like the boho twat I am, I know, I know) it's all good. I'll write more later. Hope you're all having as good a weekend as I am. But I doubt it *mwahahaha*
