Burja

Today I was visiting Goriška brda (or slo-wiki) with a very special purpose (which may be disclosed in some of my future posts). Brda are home to the some of the best wines of Slovenia. I really like visiting any region with wineyards. They add something very poetic to the landscape.

However, getting there today was quite tricky because of extremely strong wind called burja. Burja has a "base speed" at about 70-100 km/h, but that's not the tricky part. Several times in a minute it strikes with really powerful random hits of about 145-200 km/h. They always get you unprepared. If you're standing outside it may also slam you down to the ground.
These two drivers were not careful enough.

I was trying to get a better picture, but it was impossible to resist the wind outisde the car (driving itself was like an adrenalin rush).
But I did take a moment and take a picture of Solkan bridge. This should be the largest stone arch in the world.

Seems that you had some rather interesting weather there, though. Glad you survived the winds.
