After the storm

Last friday there was a huge thunderstorm in Brkini region. In the villages of Huje and Pregarje, hailstones of the size of a normal tennis ball were bombarding the village which was getting ready for the annual celebration called "Shod". The celebration had to be canceled. On the left you can see the actual hailstones, photographed by Fidele Vergan (published at Delo)Since I was at the beach at the time of the storm, I couldn't document it. But I did visit Pregarje and Huje today, where the restauration is already in progress.

Panorama of the Huje (pronounce Hooye) village.

"They were almost this big" said the lady who is still shocked. "It sounded like hundrets of bombs"

This car is still rather lucky...

Now that is bad!

The village is already visited by salesmen who sell new roof tiles. Of course, something like that could never happen with their products

A long line at the insurance office in the morning...

This little girl came to claim daddy's car.

it's ironic that in spite of horrible apperance of consequences after the storm centered in Brkini, this still wasn't anything comparing to disasters in Bela Krajina, Prekmurje and Štajerska.
i have been reparing 12 roofs in village Huje, but i haven't seen as much damage as i have whitnessed two months ago near metlika in Bela Krajina.
mother nature is finally setting the bill for our irresponsible behaviour in the past and we will pay it double.
