That is excellent. Do you remember what the film was? I'm really loving Kodak Portra at the minute. Mm.

Kodak Portra, especially the VC version is in my opinion the one of best films on the market, but it is too expensive for casual use. This is the regular Fuji Superia 100 which works almost just as great.

No doubt film was and is great and were money no object I would still use Velvia 100 in the Nikon FA that I once owned and loved. However after the initial outlay digital is so much cheaper and does give excellent results,in addition it can take you to areas you have never been before in my case photographing football. In the age of film the cost was prohibitive but now each Saturday I post about 40 shots of my local amateur team on the club website.

However if the lottery comes up on Wednesday then its down to Grays of Westminster for an FA and a few of those wonderful prime Nikkors

Absolutely right! But when we get used to the easy of use of digital cameras and the money and time savings it allows, it is hard to go back to film cameras. Besides, it's increasingly difficult to buy film rolls these days...

I have a 350d and a canon A1, the one I always carry in my bag is the good old one. The 350d has a good lens on it (17-50/2.8), but the A1's metal body is just unbreakable

As I'm still taking pictures with it (I bought it after I bought the digital one), I'm always complaining about the film prices and the end-of-roll-no-more-pictures-today tragedy, but what a pleasure to push the lever before being able to take a picture...

Krrrrr Krrrrrr, clac clac !
