Siddharta in 3d

, ,

This is a short slideshow I did for the opening of my Siddharta exhibition in Ljubljana. I will report on the event (or you can see it on my facebook profile), but for now, here is the video... I recommend full screen. ^.^

365

, , ,

The mobile 365 project is finally finished. I cannot tell you how much I learned (I will probably write a dedicated blog post about it)... Since I had no founds to print a book, I decided to make a movie-animation instead. Here it is.

This post is not about Siddharta wink

, ,

Yesterday there was a big open-air party in Ljubljana with Gorillaz Sound System DJ's. But before that, three of our bands performed; Billysi, Murat & Jose and Siddharta. The crowd was massive and it was impossible to move around. Luckly I managed to get a photo pass which allowed me to get closer to the stage.
So; Billysi were great, Siddharta was awesome (as usual), but the best official thing of the night was a joined performance by Siddharta and Murat & Jose (alternative link). M&J released a new album entitled Tuki not, which I had a chance to listen on my way back home. I wouldn't like to judge it so quickly but I was impressed by the sound of it. Their rap is not recorded over some cheap computer beats, but with a really good (rock-jazz?) band. And it is also good to hear a good rap lyrics which are not based on an oversized ego of the ones who made it (99,9% of rap fits that category).

Siddharta's new albums

, ,

I just came from a CD shop where Siddharta premiered their two (2!) new albums. Both of them feature their superb live performance. First of them is from an Unplugged radio show (Izštekani) and consists of one CD and one DVD with video footage of the same recording.
The second one is for me far more important. If you remember, I reported from their Marathon concert where they played their entire discography in one night. This concert is now available in FULL LENGTH (53 tracks) on 4 CDs and bonus DVD with documentary. Why it is important for me? Because 7 of my photos are included in the booklet that is enclosed with cds. 6 or something additional photos are from my student/assistant and above all a good friend, Marko Prelec. We can be proud wink Photo above: Menart records

And FYI: photos were selected from my.opera gallery, so you were the first to see them wizard

Siddharta maraton

, ,

It is really a rare thing for a band to make a concert where they play their entire discography. Siddharta played 53 songs, some of them were not heared for a loooong time, and one of them was performed live for the first time at all! However, the energy was spectacular and I was in a great mood to take photos. My friend Prelc and I got the acreditation for most of the concert so that we could also photograph their special guests (Vlado Kreslin, Dan D, their first bass player Primož, etc...). The whole thing was one of the most awesomnest concert in my life.

My only dissapointment is that I din't make a sigle good photo of the drummer (Boštjan). Photos of drummers are always the hardest, especially if there is a lot of fog on the stage. Lights were great, though (as allways on their concerts).

Here are some pics with commentary, more in the galery.

Siddharta marathon

, ,

Very few bands do so much for their fans as Siddharta does. After various tours and different types of concerts (including unplugged) they organize a marathon concert this friday. Their plan is to play ALL OF THEIR recorded songs in one concert. I mean all of them, from 4 studio albums and perhaps one abum of covers by other artists. Detais are not known yet, but the concert was already being sold out one week before the event.
Of course, I will be there... Expect a photo coverage wink

What a week!

, ,

This week I've been really bussy.
On a Tuesday, my brother and I took some photos of his motorbike in order to sell it better. We went to a really cool place with a lot of heavy machinery. I think it was worth a while to photograph those monsters.

Then, the next day, my friend Prelc and I went to Siddharta and Dan D concert in Koper. The town was crowded, but not so much as 2 years ago at the same event. Anyways, people were jolly and ready to rock, and the night to come was fantastic! At the end, both bands played together.

Thursday and Friday I spent in mountains photographing orienteering event called OO Cup, which took place on Velika planina. I was deeply moved by hospitality of the local folks. On velika planina there are still shepherds taking care for their cows in old fashion. You can also see young cow-boys.
The orienteering competiton was a big thing. More than 1600 people from the whole world came to run and search their check points.

Unplugged rock at 5.30 AM

, ,

[/FONT] I just came from public airing of morning radio show called Hitova budilka (Radio Hit's alarm clock). The show started at 5.30 AM at Mengeš theatre and lasted till 10 AM. Many of our most popular and in some cases even the most quality musicians appeared (including my Siddharta), all of the unplugged and live. It was awesome... When "we" finished this marathon, the day nearly started for the rest of the world... Wanna know the best part? Coffe and croissants were for freeeeeeee... as much as you can eat!yes
I submited some photos to the gallery, i hope you'll enjoy it!

Siddharta II

, ,

I never thaught i would live up to see Siddharta in my own little town. But now it happened! Unfortunately many of my fellow citizens were not so enthusiastic as I was and thaught that 16 euros is a bit too much for a ticket for that kind of band. Many of the same people went the next day on some other (drinking) party and i guess they spent even more on beer... Which is ok, but it is still a very nice cultural indicator.

Anyways, there was 700 of us who rocked the concert and really enjoed it. For me it was the 3rd concert of Petrolea tour, and i am looking forward for at least 2 or 3 more in my region. I posted some photos, i hope you like them! If you do, support the band and see their newest video on their page.

Siddharta

Last night Siddharta organised a special concert for it's most loyal fans and friends. Only 1400 invited guests were allowed to beautiful Ljubljana's Castle courtyard, where the concert took place. Fans were sellected via their internet forum S.A.M.O.. I was there as a photographer, and eventhough i was under a lot of stress (especially at the beggining) i had a jolly goot time dancing, kicking and singing along. The whole event was a fantastic introduction to their Petrolea Tour.
