"Don't Question My Knowledge of Nintendo"®

STICKY POST

About My Blog...

,

This is my blog, a place where you can read reviews on every Nintendo game, console, peripheral, and accessory that I own.
Whenever I get anything new from Nintendo, I'll be sure to post the details about it, some pictures (if possible), and answer any questions you may have about it in the comments section (must become friend to comment  ). I only post about official Nintendo franchise.
If I learn anything new for solving problems, I'll post it here.
Also, I'll be rating my games on a 5 star scale, and everything else on a 10 point scale.

Wii

, ,

For this post, I'll rate the Wii (which includes rating the Wii Remote) and Wii Sports.
This post will also mention other accessories included with the Wii. Hopefully, this post will let you decide which console to buy (and hopefully, it'll be the Wii  ).
Every Wii will do the same and ask the person with the Wii Remote to enter some non-personal information when you boot it up for the first time. Afterwards, you'll be taken to the Wii Menu, which has the Disc Channel, the Mii Channel, the Photo Channel, the Wii Shop Channel, the Weather Channel, the News Channel, the Wii Message Board, the SD Card Menu, and, depending on when you got your Wii, the Wii + Internet Channel (not to be confused with the Internet Channel browser [powered by Opera  ]).
The Disc Channel will read any Wii media discs inserted into Wii. The Wii and the Disc Channel cannot read CD's or DVDs without third-party software (Note: if you want to buy a Wii and plan to install the Homebrew Channel on it for playing DVDs, you won't be able to, since every Wii now comes with update 4.0, which stops any unofficial software from running on it). If a game disc requires a firmware update to be able to run, then it shall install the necessary files on the Wii.
The Mii Channel is a program where you can create your own Mii, or digital avatar. Here, you can create up to 100 Miis. Also, there is a feature called Mii Parade, where if two friends register each other as Wii Friends, and both have their Mii settings set to Travel and their Miis set to Mingle, then each friends' Mii shall be able to travel to people registered as Wii Friends and wil appear in their Mii Parade plaza. You can not control which Mii goes to which friend. There's also a "hidden" feature in the channel, where if you press A, B, 1, and then hold down 2, a new button will appear to connect to a Nintendo DS system and download a Mii to the game that supports the function. An example would be Personal Trainer: Walking. If you have a lot of Miis, then you can press the B button and move the cursor around the screen to move in that direction.
Now, to the Photo Channel. Once you start it, it will show two options: view photos and videos sent to you through the Wii Message Board, and viewing photos and videos on an SD or SDHC card (Note: to view photos on an SDHC card, you need update 4.0, which is already included in brand new Wii consoles). After choosing an option you will see the photos where you have chosen. You can zoom in or out to see smaller-and-more/bigger-and-less pictures. You can also scroll up or down quickly while holding down the B button and moving the cursor up or down. Choosing a slideshow of all your photos and videos is also an option. Select a photo that is sideways and you can rotate it by selecting the circling arrows at the top of the screen. You can even edit your pictures on the Wii without overwriting them to the memory card. Colors, fetures and even cutting and pasting is also possible to do to the photos. While viewing a photo, press down on the control pad, and a circle will appear around the cursor, and will make the photo pixelated in the circle, and can get bigger if you get the remote closer to the sensor bar. If you get bored with the start screen of the Photo Channel, then you can replace it with a photo, or play with your photos and videos by completing a puzzle of them.
