Black Metal, Fanzine, Oaken Throne
The best metal related fanzine in existence comes out with another issue. I am of course talking about
Oaken Throne. I just got my copy in the mail today and haven't had a chance to look at it for more than 30 seconds yet. But as always, it looks gorgeous, and this times comes with a compilation CD featuring among others Asunder, Wold, Caïna, Coffins and Moss. And the reading material contains highlights such as Wold, Coffins, Cult of Daath, and much more. Looking forward to spending a couple of hours with this piece of dead wood!

Oaken Throne, Fanzine, Black Metal, Wolves in the Throne Room
The gorgeous and excellent
Oaken Throne Zine is about to release the fourth issue. There is no mention of the new issue on Oaken Throne's web site, but artist Justin Bartlett, who has done the above Wolves in the Throne Room illustration for the new issue, shares the following words on his website:
Just got my copies of Oaken Throne magazine. This issue has tons of reviews and interviews. Some bands interviewed are Black Boned Angel, Graves at Sea, Nachtmystium, Thralldom, Villains, and Wolves in the Throne Room which I did the centerfold illustration for.

Update: I got an email from Ben West of Oaken Throne, and he wants me to inform all interested parties that you should be patient, and that the web site will be updated soon. Advertisers, writers and illustrators are getting their copies now, and distributors will be next.

Nifelheim and Sadistik Execution have joined forces on this 7" split EP, to pay tribute to long standing (22+ years and counting) underground fanzine
Slayer Mag. Both Sadistik Execution and Nifelheim have adorned the cover of Slayer Mag a few times, so this is indeed an appropriate tribute. Available on red vinyl, via
Neseblod in Norway and
Nuclear War Now! elsewhere. The EP apparently comes with a poster, and some copies come with a patch.

Finally something new from Nifelheim!! One new track of hellish Iron Maiden meets Torr meets Treblinka meets BLACK METAL!! Sadistik Exekution contributes two tracks from their Demon With Wings MCD. Comes in nice gatefold jacket with poster and heavy viny. Unfortunately GZ Media managed to fuck up the Nifelheim logo on the inside gatefold so it’s not as perfect as it should be.
And there is that gorgeous Nifelheim design again! I was late in reporting that
poster, but hey, a couple of days later it is fresh once more...
Metalion of Slayer Mag tells me that a new edition on black vinyl will be pressed once the first print is gone. And there will be a new Slayer Mag out in January.
